transcript... Karlsson: *That's* what we're working for! Brian: Someone's compensating for something. Brian: Do you actually really like your boss? Karlsson: Course I do. Brian: Yeah... so when was the last time you got a raise? Karlsson: Well, you know... he's a busy man. Brian: Sure, he is, busy completely exploiting the poor proletariat! Karlsson: You know, coming from you, this commie babbl...

The Times - (There's A) Cloud Over Liverpool
Great album
Don't get much better than this... Classic stuff indeed...
epic solo from none other than Andy Summers (yes, that one)
I've been studying this bassline for a long time...since it came out. I think I got it almost. the guitar work, the drumming, the vocals, the lyrics the melody the chords, the special effects....jeez it's a masterpiece.
Cool!
What a band! Sadly only 2 albums.
It's just the UK band XTC in cognito!
XTC put out about 20 albums.
Blasting my sorry drunk ears off with this right now. Fantastic, truly fantastic.
Hells yes!!!
Song by The Dukes of Stratosphear OverviewLyricsListen You take me to heaven from deeper than hell ever dug And you fly me higher than a trip on a magical rug Confessions unravel You bang with your gavel And here I stand guilty In a court where you are the judge You're the drug You've got to come on round and pick me up You've my drug And I don't ever know if I can give you up Well you bring me colour where once I had just black and white Now I have rainbows appearing round here in the night Our true loving is growing And passion is flowing Well I don't need any cigarettes or beer from a jug You're my drug You've got to come on round and pick me up You're my drug Well you can slow me down or quick me up You're my drug Well you can spill me down and lick me up You're my drug And I don't ever know if I can give you up
Great song, great album. As well as its predecessor POP GOES ART! The Times, like Ed Balls former Band Television Personalities, are completely underrated. They were among the founders of what later was called Indiepop but never quite reaped the laurels. That's a shame!
wow my friend lindsay sent me this after i send her the ed ball one , this is ace . cheers :)
That’s Entertainment in a parallel universe.
This version made it aproachable to a modernist's perspective, then. And it still is. Thanx a million Ed!
A loving pastiche...but equal to...and kind of better than.. the original
This song is better than most Byrds tracks
Like Ennio Morricone met the Jesus And Mary Chain. Very nice. 🥰
Since no ones posted the lyrics, here they are (I copied from Google, plus added some different lyrics based off what i heard, sorry if they're wrong plz correct me): You take me to heaven from deeper than hell ever dug And you fly me higher than a trip on a magical rug Confessions unravel You bang with your gavel And here I stand guilty In a court where you are the judge You're my drug You've got to come on round and pick me up You've my drug And I don't ever know if I can give you up Well you bring me colour where once I had just black and white Now I have rainbows appearing round here in the night Our true loving is growing And passion is flowing Well I don't need any cigarettes or beer from a jug You're my drug You've got to come on round and pick me up You're my drug Well you can slow me down or quick me up You're my drug Well you can spill me down and lick me up you're my drug And I don't ever know if I can give you up(2x)
I wonder if Dave got his hands on a Rickenbacker 12 string for this? These guys went to great pains to get the right sound. Andy is a production tyrant, according to Colin...
quality upload
Mark Radcliffe had the re-recorded version on heavy rotation in 1996. I didn't know until just now that this existed. This is a pleasant surprise!
Hey, absolutely! I always thought it was a shame that the slower, re-recorded version became "the official version". That one is great too, but this outtake is out of this world, and one of my favourite things Eddie ever did!
I love the Times. It's one of my all time favourite bands. I listen to their records really often. But I find it difficult to find anything interesting past "Enjoy". On the other hand, I love Ed Ball's "Catholic guilt" lp ...
Still some great ones after that! Up Against It, Sad But True, Star (Teenage Filmstars), E for Edward, his other two solo LPs :D
Still lovin this in 2020!!!
the bass on this is killer
The Red Curtain is right up there with Colin Moulding!
finally ... here we are again
30 years on still genius,
1 person has never flown on a magical rug
Definitely as High, (about 8 miles?), as The Byrds
David Frankel : Definitely Byrds inspired but I hear So You Wanna Be A Rock And Roll Star.
@@markzappasodi ~ No question about that!
@@markzappasodi But 'So You Want to be a Rock and Roll Star' is a Byrds song, oui?
Well done.
‘You take me to heaven from deeper than hell ever dug’ 👍🏻
u r my drug can't get enough I want you so bad fuck.amazing! !!:).I want u so bad fuck......
fav
life saving and life changing for me!
I forgot how much fun The Dukes of Stratosphear were.
👻
Proper ace! Thanks for posting :) x
Total misnomer. This guy is so awful. He seems like the kind of guy who plays his music to impress people and they feel obligated to tell him it is sooooo good. Hopefully someone soon will be able to tell him the truth. He is terrible awful disgusting and every other adjective that means "sucks". At least "problematico" is correct. The fact this guy was ever able to put his putrescence out for public consumption means the end is nigh.
Mediocre at best. Sounds like a self-important wanna be singer. Very whiny. Hard to listen all the way thru.
This wonderful groovy song gets me up on my feet every time, fantastic guitars and a great melody.
Beautiful production. These guys are very professional.
♥ ...♥♥♡♥♡♥¥¤\`\¡\`$&!^$$^$^@@@$
i love you!
Sounds a bit like Bowie...
@heroide Well put! Had this on the back of my parka in '85.......unlike a lot of my 80's faves this Lp still holds up well!
i can't believe i'm having such a hard time finding Faris's work on the internet. This is so great.
This is potent. Could've been released in any era including today. Haven't heard anything for a long time that made me feel this great. Thx for the post!
Crackin song from a crackin album!!!
Something clicked to seek out this song, I remember John Peel playing it and thought it brilliant, great you can hear it now on You Tube, how did the Farm manage to have a hit record and this band didn't?
underrated song :) still fucking fantastic
