God hasn't told me to do that, he actually told me to help finance his kingdom, so he actually wants me to make money to give to ministries so that the gospel will advance

@@myronagilmorejr I respect that. I also see at least 5 places in the Bible that say to live a life of poverty so my follow up question is how can you trust your interpretation of what God wants you to do among thousands of passages.

@@bearingoutward1302 Can you list those scriptures, because I'm not familiar with them. I know sometimes God may ask certain people specific things, but living in poverty is not a part of his overall plan for every saint or minister

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:21, Jesus says, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 2 Corinthians 8:9: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

It says poor in spirit, it's talking about humility, not money. The instance with the rich young ruler, he was proving a point, that he was self-righteous, that was situational. Many of God's people in the Bible were either rich or self-sufficient. The Bible says that the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. God doesn't want his people to be in poverty. Poverty is a curse and other times it's a mismanagement of the resources God has given us. Even at other times God may tell someone not to live after things because he wants to be the one who supplies their needs. God has a purpose behind everything he does. The 2 Corinthians scripture is referring to how Jesus became sin, so that we can have his righteousness. The Matthew 6 scripture is talking about money not being our motive, but when we seek God instead of money and other things, he will automatically give us money and other things.
