nice video... but to be honest, it's not just the Skarloey Railway that would be safe from scrapping. All of Sodor would be safe, because the island's economy thrives on Tourism. seriously, look it up. Many island nations still use steam power for a sense of nostalgia, and they thrive on tourism.
