Hi All! Welcome to the LFTrains youtube page!
This channel is where I post my footage from my visits to heritage railways across the country, with most videos being my regular visits to the Great Central Railway as it is my favourite heritage railway.
I plan to attend all the major GCR events this year, as well as visiting other railways around the country.

Great Central Railway Autumn Steam Gala! | 6th October 2024
From Thursday the 3rd to Saturday the 6th of October the Great Central Railway hosted it's annual autumn steam gala, a significant highlight in the GCR event calendar. Featuring the usual homefleet of steam locomotives and a diesel as well as Odney Manor from the West Somerset Railway, the star of the show! The 2nd planned guest Foremarke Hall failed a couple weeks prior to the event meaning the gala only had one guest loco in attendance, but that didn't take away from the usual show that the railway can put on.

Over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of August the GCR held their annual railways at work gala, my personal favorite event in the GCR event calendar. The theme for this year was 1966! From the 29th May to the 2nd June steam hauled services returned to the Mountsorrel Branch Line on the Great Central Railway for the first time since 2018. A regular running weekend rebranded with footplate visits, loco shed tours and an additional freight service making 2 round trips throughout the day. There were 2 steam locomotives (48305, 78019) and one diesel locomotive (D123 Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry") in operation throughout the day. Great Central Railway Spring Diesel Gala | 26/27th April 2024

From the 26-28th April the GCR held the first of two diesel gala's for the 2024 season, the Spring Diesel Gala. The Gala featured 2 guest locomotives: Class 31 31108 and Class 55 Deltic 55009 Alycidon (Masked as 55013 "The Black Watch") as well as the usual home running fleet. It proved be a great and popular 3 days for the railway.

For Easter Sunday I took yet another visit to the Greater Central Railway, the day saw 2 steam locomotives (78018 and 78019), one diesel locomotive (50017 "Royal Oak") and 3 railcars in service (Iris, NER 3170 and 153371), with 153371 making its debut in passenger service in preservation on the GCR which made for quite an interesting sight.

Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of March the GCR held a celebration weekend for the 125th anniversary of the Great Central Railway which first opened in 1899. The weekend of the the 24/25th saw the 9F bow out pulling its last passenger services before it is withdrawn from service for overhaul. It is expected that she will return in the next 5 years. The 9F played a key part in all of the GCR events from 2014-2024 and she will be greatly missed whilst out of service. From the 27th - 30th of December the GCR held their first "Betwixtmas Steam Days" This footage is from the Saturday, the 30th. The Class 50 was drafted in due to the 9F failing on the freight outside Lougborough in the morning but returned to service later in the day just as I left. Apologies for the footage being a little disjointed, rain made it hard to film at some parts.

Looks like the prototype Hornby Dublo produced - Bo Bo ? And is that its friend the little diesel shunter ? Also Hornby Dublo . Couldn't make out/remember if it had coupled wheels 0-6-0.

I was just going through some old photos and there was a shot taken on a foggyy Sunday morning at Quorn from the bridge. Station was closed with white notices pasted on every door on the platform and an 'eight freight' hauling wagons through northbound. It must have been c.1966. I remember it clearly.
My friends and I were there indirectly with you the majority of the day 😅 Even without us in frame I recall which moments and services we'd been on at the same time as you Did you not go into the museum at Nunckley Hill though? Plenty of items to have seen there including the workshed

@@LFTrains27 Yeah there was plenty to see. Spent about 2ish hours down there before deciding to grab the diesel back up to Woodhouse for food (hence how you'd seen us on the platform at Rothley) Garden, garden railway, garden cafe, standard & narrow guage wagons, a history section of the aformentioned cafe we didn't get time for, and the two museums where they had a few locos and wagons on display inside. Amazing how they fitted so much in a small space

I use a Panasonic HC-W580 as my camcorder, and I use Filmora Wondershare as my editing software.
Thanks does it cost anything to get rid of the watermark
@jacobstrainadventures unfortunately yes, I believe I pay around £40 a year for the watermark to get removed and it comes with a bunch of other features aswell
