Love Asaf Avidan! I was first introduced to him by Ren, who often shouts out other artists. You should check out Asaf's song In a Box II - Bang Bang. He uses different instruments and it has a more Middle Eastern feel (he's Israeli) but still with his incredible voice, and the same passion and looping layers.

HEY!! you gave him a shot!! I had a feeling that you would enjoy this incredibly talented artist.. you are exactly right..when you referred to the incredibly perfect timing of this performance. So much passion he performs with while being so in tune with all these things going on .. he is one of a kind. You don't just listen to a Asaf song.. You FEEL IT!! There are many more great performances.. the In the box series are all recorded live.. exactly as you observed.. i had a feeling you would appreciate that. And in his definition live means no re-recordings..no auto tunes.. just him and his instruments in this beautiful old church.. well I think it's a church.. but he records there for the amazing acoustics. I am sure some more knowledgeable Asaf fans will be dropping by soon to fill you in on more of his background and some song choices.. I love the in the box series.. as they are so powerful..yet have such an elegance to them as well. It's hard to find a artist that can put this much passion into his performances.. with that being said.. I do think one to check out.. at some point.. there will be other great recommendations I'm sure.. but I think you will enjoy his song called Reckoning Song (Live from Acropolis) now this one is on a beautiful stage.. it is a bit long.. but only because he stops before the final verse and shares what inspired the song. The song is great and his story is really well told too. I am excited to see more reactions. And.. this.. it was a wonderful reaction.. I loved that you caught right away the critical timing involved in his performance. His unique voice catches everyone off guard when the first hear it. Caroline Polachek (her albums "PANG" and "Desire, I Want To Turn Into You" are amazing), Yeule (the music video for their song "Don't Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty" is amazing), Cecile Believe, SOPHIE, Grouper, Cocteau Twins, Oklou, Sega Bodega, Slowdive, Nicole Dollanganger, Weyes Blood, SASAMI and Arca. Sorry, that is a ton of artists haha. But I think if you start with the first two you would love! Such interesting gorgeous and forward thinking music. Worthwile to check them out even if you don't review :) Happy listening!

An new artist I wanted to suggest.. Asaf Avidian he's from Isreal.. a truly unique voice and a brilliant musician with the looping machine.. becomes a one man band. I promise you will live this guy.. check out his song 900 days.. be sure to watch the one from his series- IN A BOX III all the songs from IN a Box series are all live in one take .. just him.. his instruments.. and looping machine.. he records them in what appears to be an abandoned church.. he records there for the acoustics. He us a one of a kind artist and honestly needs more exposure in America, especially. Hope you give itba listen. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
