The plan to silence Britain, with Toby Young
Free speech is under attack all over the Western world, but the assault may be the most sinister in the United Kingdom. Keir Starmer's authoritarian regime seems intent on chipping away at civil liberties until very few remain standing.
To discuss the state of free speech in the UK today, Will is joined by @SpectatorTV journalist, host of the @TheDailySceptic, and Founder of @TheFreeSpeechUnion, Toby Young.

How to defeat wokeism, with Helen Pluckrose

It's easy to say that "woke ideology" is a nonsense. It's much harder to say that when your job, your social status, or your friendships may be put at risk by doing so. We need a practical, principled approach to fighting back against wokeism. Enter Helen Pluckrose. Helen is a political and cultural author and speaker. She is the co-author of ‘Cynical Theories’, which was book of the year in Th...
The unstoppable rise of the nanny state, with Christopher Snowdon

Across the Anglosphere, governments on both sides of politics have never been more interested in the personal lives of their citizens. The nanny state thrives from Australia to the United Kingdom, and even in that traditional bastion of freedom, the USA. Christopher Snowdon is the UK’s leading warrior against the excesses of the nanny state. He is the Head of Lifestyle Economics at @iealondon, ...
The horror of Starmer's Britain, with Nick Dixon

The United Kingdom is a great country. It’s arguably contributed more to the flourishing of Western civilization than any other. Which is why recent events have left many people heartbroken. Racially and culturally motivated riots have erupted on British streets, met with a two-tiered policing and judicial response, a crackdown on free speech, and an awful sense that the next five years could s...

What the mainstream media calls a “conspiracy theory” is often nothing more than an amalgam of incentives hiding in plain sight. Once you see that, the rest becomes pretty obvious. Misaligned incentives are everywhere, and are the root cause of some of our thorniest global challenges. So how can we fix them? There is no one better qualified to answer that question than @LivBoeree. Liv has one o...

When it comes to conflict in the Middle East, there’s the war, and then there’s the war about the war. Of course, this isn’t new. Caesar was penning war reports in Gaul and sending them back to Rome to win hearts and minds over 2000 years ago. But, back then Caesar could control the narrative. Today that is almost impossible. Social media, an activist mainstream media, and more sophisticated di...
America's forever war, with Nick Bryant

The American experiment is failing. Division, mistrust and misinformation are now the country's defining characteristics. Sir @niallferguson5684 is arguably the world's greatest living historian. He first pointed out that we’re in Cold War II back in 2018. This view is less controversial now than it was then. China is clearly not only an ideological rival; it...

Education was once the search for truth. Sadly, this is no longer the case in many universities across the Western world. Decoding the modern bloke, with Geoff Norcott

It wasn’t so long ago that one phrase sat above any other in the hierarchy of endorsements for a British or Australian male: “He’s a good bloke.” You don’t hear it as much in 2024 because blokehood is under attack across the Western world. Historically positive masculine virtues are now shamed as toxically masculine. At a minimum, blokeishness is derided as boorishness by our social betters in ...

It started out with the umbrella term of Gay in the 60s and 70s. In the mid 80s the lesbians wanted their own identity and the L was added to become G and L. Around the same time late 80s the B for Bi-sexual was added. It was GLB till the mid 90s when T was added to become GLBT. With the rise in gender studies which grew out of women’s studies the Lesbian’s pushed to be at the front of the alphabet because of their perceived lack of identity and so around 2010 it became LGBT and then all the other nonsense was soon to follow.

Murray's the strange Death of Europe is crucial reading on the immigration issue and the lack of consent. On this both Tories and Labour share the blame because both supported (for different reasons) growth through low cost immigration and the acceptance of an undertrained and often unemployed (close to 15% with long term sickness included) indigenous population. Similarly with extreme globalisation which leaves the social cost of unemployment with the state whilst transferring the profit to business often domicile elsewhere. We are locked into 19th century view of economics where people are just regarded as another input. Certainly not fit for the 21st century where technology is a major replacement for (unskilled) labour. As regards Labour as a party I have always thought the clue to left wing politics it's the use of the term socialism - it is based on favouring one social group at the cost of another and always falls into the salami slicing of which is the right social group. It is never about advancing the whole. The Tories have fallen into the trap of trying to be Blair socialists. The Right really needs to promote "right wing" as supporting the individual to manage their own life. At the moment the left is allowed to own the term "right wing" as a dog whistle slur with the implicit link to fascism rather than address underlying issues.

Unfortunately Murray with his Classical Liberalism, pro NeoCon war agenda has no solutions and is a key part of what caused the Strange Death of Europe. He will never support White people coming together and organising for their collective interests just like other groups do. Strange because he is a strong supporter of the ethnostate of Israel.

Your arguing for MORE Individualism. This is what has got us/ White people into this mess. Plus, we have way moved beyond the old Left v Right paradigm to anti White v pro White. All other groups are organising for the own collective interests. In group preference is completely normal around the World. White people need to wake up and understand why they keep losing. We must organise for our OWN collective interests. The demographics are only going to get worse and worse.

Interesting interview where Tragedy of the commons meets prisoners dilemma on a global scale. Approaching 70 I'm an enthusiastic adopter of technology though also a slightly sceptical one. The ability to lay your soul or at least your consumer preferences bare to unknown entities for no reward has never seemed a clever move (I also avoid clothes that turn you into a walking advert for the manufacturer!) I've been interested in game theory since the early '70's when as a schoolboy I read a Book by James Blish which introduced me to The Rand Corporation (SiFi about a Black Magician ..... it's strange the roads that take us places sometimes. The Black Magician seems to fit in with Maloch though ;-) ). It's funny how we would think twice about walking into an unlit alley in the city but we do the same through social media with gay abandon. I'd guess we have yet to learn the warning signs evolution has given us elsewhere. How many damaged generations before we do.

Niall puts too much emphasis on "Wokeism." The fundamental problem of our elite is not the bizarre ideologies coming out of the university, but the fact that they see the American people as fungible economic units. They do not see the difference between someone whose family goes back generations and someone who just crossed the border because both contribute in some capacity to GDP growth. They do not see the difference between men and women because both show up the same on a labor force participation spreadsheet. Culture, nationality, and tradition don't matter to them other than as political weapons against the historic American nation--if anything, Culture is an obstacle to economic growth and the displacement such growth necessitates. America, like the Soviet Union, is Materialist to the core, where everything is subordinate to economic determinations pursuant to the dream of global hegemony.

His analysis is that the deaths of despair come from a devaluation of labor compared to capital (most prominently through free trade, China into WTO, globalisation) and the realisation of the working class that working for a living does not create a nice life when everything you buy or rent goes up faster than your income and the difference between income and cost of goods, services, housing etc gets pocketed by a small percentage of ever wealthier people. Why then does he think that the abolition of EDI is the solution which is the mother of all red herrings? The solution is go increase the power of labor over capital. His analysis is the symptom of a class of academics that has lost any consciousness of class. Like the EDI people themselves he has completely lost the capacity so solve the problem. If he thinks everyhing will be finde once EDI is abolished - which isn't the cause of any of this - makes me seriously question his judgement. I have never heard anyone mention EDI outside of the academic class, all I hear ae people complaining about how their labor gets them less every year and how if you are not invested or tied your labor to capital like being a real estate agent and leverage capital to get ahead you are losing quality of life every second. If you don't own a house you get left behind. If you have children and both can't work you get left behind. If you can't afford healthcare you get left behind. As soon as you get paid actual money for your labor it gets moved to Vietnam or China. Or you get replaced by automation. Nothing of these have ANYTHING TO DO WITH EDI. Or maybe I am missing something, how do any of these problems get solved once you get rid of EDI?
