An early example of this genre and last chance in this line!
Thanks for the video. That is an unusual way the emptyed the wagon
The west cork railroad should never had ended
Thanks to the Englishman(?) who brought this little piece of my country's industrial heritage to my attention. I knew we made use of the country's peat resources like this, but without seeing it (in spite of having _lived_ in Co. Mayo for a couple of years!) I had never really appreciated it. PS - Tbh, I had no idea that Mayo even _had_ power stations. I say 'had', because I assume they are now strictly past tense...
Beautiful footage great days gone by
I wonder if Irish rail would reopen the line to facilitate the area which obviously has a bigger population, and name it the CART, Cork area rapid transit, I used to drive a truck along side the track and often wondered of it's history, a very nice film to watch, thank you.
Brilliant piece of railway history, Well done
Lovely film. Such a shame the line was closed and dug up.
Great video but very sad also how Ireland 🇮🇪 pulled up a lot of its rails as we did in the uk 🇬🇧 how we’d loved them back now 🙄🏴
Such a shame all those beautiful scenic lines are gone, pity we don't hear that infamous Crossley HST-Vee8, a sound consigned to the history books sadly.
Thanks for sharing 👍
A great video its sad there is hardly a trace of it now. The section from Chetwynd Viaduct to the Kinsale roundabout is going to be turned into a greenway now.
Great footage by Tony did the projection of those films for him many times , we used to walk the line at pouladuff so I remember those scenes into Cork . I was 7 then. Driver Mick O Connor who I worked with in the railway in Cork and his son Brendan who is in Canada for some years now. Micks knickname was Pebbles , Dunnocks was a Driver Mick Donaghue who i also worked with at Kent Stn.
Thank you for sharing.
