I know this is old, but I wanted to answer your question at the end. I haven’t found anything to combat the thoughts and worries in the moment, but having a mindfulness practice has helped alleviate how much time I spend in unhelpful thinking patterns. I’m hoping this will apply to my new job - time will tell, it’s the first one I’ve had that really requires a building of skills over many months if not years. I’m excited to finally have something to really sink my teeth into, but I do secretly wonder if I will end up not having the aptitude for it. No way to know! I just try to refocus on the moment and trust that I will try my best and I’ll be able to handle it if things don’t work out.

Starting a new job as a manager after completed 4 days I felt something twin shadow comes out from me and start questioning my capabilities- doubting myself asking if I deserve this new role in-spite of positive feedback from my team. I’m so vulnerable to this feeling .

I panicked during a test when I had the answer right in front of me. I overthink too much and doubt myself to the point where i freeze up and I just wanted to run out of the class and hide in shame. But I didn’t I stood there finished my test and got a 95% I missed only 3 questions. I took a little longer then my other peers but I finished! I am trying to work on myself, and not give up.

What if you are in your 40s and don’t already have management experience? How do you get your employer to give you a chance?

Currently in that seat of “omg how did I get myself in this situation” like literally start orientation in a few hours and I’m freaking out but trying not to freak out too much but I have the reoccurring thought of , holy crap why did I think I could do this, how did I get myself into this new position and I’m not going to be able to do it . Last night I started to relax about it but today I’m so freaked out because of this imposter sort of feeling . It’s crazy how from one second to the next I can start doubting myself and my capabilities , one minute to the next is difficult in stopping the snow ball effect

This is a very challenging area for me, ive been spoiled a bit by being recognized just based on contribution so i tend to just wait for that to happen again, whats a good place to find out what i should be paid? I dont even know

Premise seems a little like a 'case for action' which i use all the time at work and i think really works well to get things done efficiently and with everyone aligned
