My teacher always told me to listen to his recordings and try to sound like him. I tried, but never came close.

For me the best interpretet Mozart ,our great NDR SO,under the not forgotten Monteux,I admire him.First only on LP by concert hall now good transfer from LP by scribendum.

Thanks for posting this! As children we got to witness our Mom who would once a year (maybe twice a year!) get this album out with the booklet that was included, have a box of tissues next to her, and listen to the whole album. She would be crying away as the story unfolds, and all us kids knew not to bother her until the whole thing was finished. Now I'm just getting into it.

I was given a Karajan Fantastic at Christmas 1960 or so. I took it back to HMV in Oxford Street and changed it for this one. I lived more happily with this one for years

Una bellissima sinfonia che trascinò il pubblico londinese estasiato da questa musica coinvolgente e immediata e coinvolgente. Stupenda incisione con uno studioso attento e minuzioso della partitura. Orchestrali e conduttore da favola. Fu questa la sinfonia che il pubblico alla fine applaudiva forsennato e gridava: ancora, ancora, ancora? Grado conferma. Io adoro questa musica tutta, in particolare il minuetto di una eleganza !!!!!!!!!!

Markevitch is conducting Orchestre National de la RTF (not his "Paris Orchestra", which was Orch. des Concerts Lamoureux) and not in 1958 but rather in 1955. He was born in Kiev (Ukraine), then Russian Empire. Bw. What do you mean by "Triptych #2 from the first movement ??? This symphony has only two movements - which are here complete - (that is why it is called "Unfinished". Triptych means something three-part (a symphony had usualy 4 movements).

Remains for me the template by which all other interpretations are judged.

Eine Platte von festival classique dieser Aufnahme klingt in der Preßqualität besser,die Platten von concert hall klingen meist schlechter,eine Referenz bei der 3.Brahms eher analytisch aber mit Verve und Feuer.
