This was one of the stupidest decisions made in the new trilogy

When a villain commits an act of inexcusable evil, which was murdering billions of people in this instance, audience expects that character to go away in the most brutal and painful way possible. You can't have a guy showed on screen commiting a genocide and then expect us to sympatise with him or even give him a redemption arc, because he is past the moral event horizon. As Leia has said to Tarkin after destruction of Alderaan: *"If ever there was a shred of humanity in you or these twisted creatures of yours, it's dead now. You're at war with life itself. You are enemies of the universe... your Empire is doomed."* It is obvious, that this twist wasn't planned when Force Awakens came out and they were expecting an audience to gasp in awe due to unexpected plot twist, which didn't really worked out. But it indeed wasn't unexpected, because there was absolutely no foreshadowing or buildup.

I mean, they managed to ruin a shit ton of potentially interesting characters. Supreme Leader Snooke could have been the first fallen Jedi or Sidious Master...In the end he was just a clone of Sidious..Come on, 3 Trilogy literally using the same fkin villain. Finn could have become a Jedi, in the end he was just a goof. Hux was the Spy..lol? Rey was Palpatine relative, somehow...She is his daughter, granddaughter? That was never explained, but then again there should be explanations to whom were her parents. I guess Palpatine had time to be smooth while he conquered the Galaxy. Captain Phasma had the looks, and 0 content at all. I felt they wanted to pull a Boba Fett vibe but they never added nothing interesting to the character to make it badass. Kylo was just a bad character at all imo. It was a grown up but he made the whole saga feel like a Come of Age movie.

That's one hell of a character arch.

For the most part I enjoyed the sequels but what they did with Hux was atrocious

How to ruin a legandry character:

I definitely watched all three of the sequels trilogies. No joke: I was so utterly and unprecedentedly bored by these movies, I didn't even remember that Hux WAS a spy, or even why it made no sense for him to be a spy. I think I just had a blind "Sure. Spy. Okay, whatever." reaction. It's mystifying that there are people who liked these movies.
