Fourteen day solo Sierra Nevada remote back country camping and hiking. Zero people encountered!
The object of this trip was to be alone in the wilderness for a long period. I really needed it. This was in August, peak season for backpacking. So, I wasn't getting my hopes up about not seeing other people. As it turned out, I spent fourteen marvelous days camping and hiking three to seven miles every day without ever encountering one person. Mission accomplished. Just me and the animals. The weather was a little crazy, but that's what makes things interesting and memorable. The twelve hour severe thunderstorm episode is noteworthy. But all in all, it was heaven on earth. Best watched in full screen, high resolution, and with headphones.

Gonzo Horse Packing: Back to Emigrant Paradise - July 12-27, 2022

Gonzo Horse Packing: Back to Emigrant Paradise - July 12-27, 2022 Apologies for doing the same trip I did in 2021 on an eight day solo trip and this long winded intro. But my 75 pound pack, two week, 40 plus mile cross country backpacking trips may be numbered. Having some back issues. Guess I’ll just have to cut back the pack weight and days out. Forty five pounds and seven days out sounds pre...
Spellbinding Emigrant Wilderness horse pack solo camping and exploring
Просмотров 9052 года назад
Back in 2016, I spent a couple of days laying over in this area. I was so impressed with the beauty of the place that I came back. This time I treated myself to a solo drop-off and pick-up horse pack. It's nice to be able to bring in all kinds of things that you'd never even think of carrying in on foot. The experience of riding a fine horse into remote back country wilderness is incomparable. ...

Did something different this year, something I've been meaning to do for along time a 30 mile horseback spot pack from Crabtree Trailhead to a drop off at Huckleberry Lake. Aspen Meadows Pack Station did a marvelous job, and kudos to "Bob," our 16 YEAR OLD packer! I cannot recommend these good folks anymore highly. From there it was a magnificent and leisurely trip back via Lertora Lake, Karl's...

Well, once again we were forced back to the Emigrant Wilderness, as severe fire restrictions were in place from Yosemite south. Be that as it may, it's always enjoyable to wander the southern Emigrant, as there are lots of hidden lakes and valleys to explore. The weather was splendid, as were Pingree and Kole Lakes. I intend going back to Kole Lake and base camp there and explore all the lakes ...
Hidden Wild Marin: Mystery Canyon 1 Loop Hike

Got a new iPhone 6 Plus and wanted to try out the video, so I documented one of the weekly training hikes I do in Marin. This is about an 11 mile loop hike, and is one of the most stellar and people free hikes in the entire Bay Area. The only person I saw the entire day was a bicyclist. No music in this one, only the sounds of nature and my occasional big mouth. Best viewed in 720P HD, full scr...

We wanted to do a southern Sierra trip, but severe back country fire restrictions were in place in all of the areas we were interested in. So, the only area that didn't have fire restrictions was the Emigrant Wilderness. We decided on base camping at Lower Wire Lake, which was an excellent choice as we didn't see one other person for the entire trip! The weather was also about as spectacular th...

We had intended to do a trip down to the John Muir Wilderness or Kings Canyon, but fire restrictions were in place in all those areas, so we had to settle for the Emigrant, where fires were still permitted. But it was a great trip anyway, as they usually are! Check out the SIX YEAR OLD BOY that walked into Camp Yellowhammer with his mom and dad. I have NEVER seen anyone that young that far out ...

Anything to do with Einstein’s probabilities for absorption and emission of a photon being identically equal?
Sooo, …the ancients who said the reason we see things is because the eye (the absorber) emits “light” (the advanced wave) that illuminates what we see (the emitter). Via the retarded wave. 🤝 They were ahead of their time conceptually, if not computationally?

Another great video Kim! It's great to see how your trips have evolved over the years. These videos have been a real inspiration for me. I am definitely coming down to that region in the next couple of summers.
The upcoming trip in August is gonna be really cool -- God willing.
Beautiful trip
You've worn a certain shirt for many years now - must be a good luck charm. Thank you for sharing your adventure Kim, hope you have many more in the future. Fantastic drone footage.
Skip the music, tell me locations of where you are.
I don't obey orders.
Thanks for all the kind comments. It's really appreciated.
Good to see ya out on another trip with another great vid. Will be out in Sierra country again come summer.
Enjoyed the video. I love the high country in California.
Such a beautiful upload my friend 😊
Wonderful experience as usual. Thank you for sharing it with us. Where might you go next time? You're still in great shape! 👍
Oh! Goody. Merry Christmas
Always good to see a new video from you!!! ... Merry Christmas
My second maybe 3rd time watching this I love these men!!!
"even drones can get weaponed", wow, coming from at the very least 15 yrs ago, all one can respond to that with is AN'T THAT THE TRUTH!
"even drones can get weaponed", wow, coming from 15 yrs ago at least an't that the truth!
this fucker knows the truth of what happen to that Chinese lady who made that anti-gravity. The fact he ran his mouth on such top secret black book projects is crazy. Funny how this video has yet to be taken down by the government at this point.
Leighton Lake area is gorgeous, thank you Kim for taking us along, it was epic. I am curious as to what video camera & gear you are using? Where the hell is your SRM?
Thanks for the good words. I'm using a Sony ZV-1 camera with a 20mm wide angle add on lens. That's it. And as far as the SRM goes, I couldn't find any small rocks in the entire area! Bummer. I'm going back again solo this year, but I might go all the way to Huckleberry Lake and base camp there and explore the beautiful and remote Yosemite North Boundary country. All depends on the state of my 70 year old back.
I'm not surprised you went back to that 2021 camp. I love that area, as you know. My big 2022 trip: The packers dropped my pack at Long Lake in late August and I day hiked to catch up with it. Stayed at Long Lake 4 nights, had it to myself. Gorgeous weather, dazzling night sky, blessed silence. I carried myself out, looped down to Deer Lake and took the trail back to Piute Lake, then a cross-country over to Louse Canyon, stayed there one last night about 500 yards or so above your Confluence Camp, another night of dazzling Scorpius and Sagittarius. Sorry about your back. See you out there, Kim. - beetle
Hi Beetle! I had a great camp at lower Long Lake years ago. The area surrounding it is fantastic for long day hikes. I may do a solo drop off and pick up to Huckleberry Lake this year. I want to base camp there and explore the northern boundary area in Yosemite around Peninsula Lake and Big Island Lake. Might be my last opportunity. If not that, it's back to my Karl's Lake camp. Hard to beat that gorgeous area. Take care.
Tell you wut, I'm impressed. I'd need an oxygen tank for sure. Five miles a day up there in the thin air. Good work. I was starting to worry you'd hung up yer hiking boots. I was missing the Sierra experience, hoping you were fine. Nice to see you hunky old coots up there. <3
Louis Kauffman kind of debunks Max Tegmark. hahaha
completely mind-blowing!! thanks

Thanks to Jack for explaining this so clearly!!
I made the Back from the Future series into a Playlist. thanks
nawww we know tom from leaving a man leaking😭😭😭‼️
I hiked out their last week! Very fun and pretty
5:16 this picture is driving me nuts. I know this is Fort Point and the Golden Gate but here there are two pieces of land jutting out from the peninsula when there should only be one.
I immediately recognized north beach in the first few photographs without reading the description. yay to me
"After 7 days up in the mountains, this Sierra Nevada tastes real good" Best quote I've heard in years!!! Great video.
The 70s were way cooler than anything today.. Just the raw craziness of people Jesus
Thank you for posting this. I’ve lived in and near North Beach most of my life. Most of the locations in these photographs are immediately recognizable to me. Yes, some things have changed, but much has not.
Guess you had changed your attitude since 2013, when 2 minutes into your video at ruclips.net/video/jpKvy3YIcHs/видео.html you said it was either "greenhorns" or "rich doctors" who used the services of Aspen Meadows Pack Station.
Oh my. I enjoyed these so much!!!! I could pick out some but not all places. I've lived in North Beach all my lucky adult life. Thanks.
The tic tac.
This guy does everything he can to get attention, no surprise he's spewing bullshit like this. He mentions Corso, who has been proven a phoney and made up the stories, so don't take what this guy says with any real interest.
This interviewer needs to STFU damn bruh let the man speak annoying af
It wasn't an "interview." It was a conversation. Be annoyed, like I GAFF.
Another great one Kim; glad to see you getting out there again. Great scenery and commentary. Music was on point as usual. Would like to join you some time but 10 days is just too long. I go shorter trips, multiple times. Backflush that filter bro. :)
Finally got to see this new vid… nice. Was hoping to see a old “seven rock man.” Beautiful country and I love the idea of a base camp to explore from with multiple days to roam. Gonna try to get a horse pack trip in this year end of June and early July, God willing. Thanks for the share!
I remember them cows.Great video,all that’s missing is me
Thanks for the adventure. Did you leave an SRM at basecamp?
You know, I fu**ing forgot! 🤪
P.S. I will the next time I go. And I'm going back. Just too good of a camp not to go back.
I figured you would be going back. Magnificent place thanks for the views.
Glad to see you finding a way to get to your heaven. Heck, just plain glad to see you.
Thanks!
Great to see you’re back. I watch all of your Emigrant videos over and over, I learn something new about the area every time I watch. I had almost the same thing happen to my sawyer on last summers trip, my filter straight up refused to flow anything period. Should have checked it before the trip.
Nice area
Just watched 14 minutes so far, already sick with jealousy! Your spot is gorgeous. Can't wait to watch the whole thing. Could you believe the chaos of downed trees in Pine Valley? - beetle
Hi Beetle!
@@lensman137 Hi, Kim - I'm savoring this video, not rushing through it. Your filming of the trek down from Red Can the first time, that draw that goes down to Leighton, was absolutely the most exciting thing I've ever seen. The guitar - wow! No dialogue needed. I held my breath!
Good to see a new video from you, your Sierra Nevada videos are inspiring!!!
I really appreciate the kind words.
Is there a way to see the raw unedited version?
How is this not a huge podcast with a half a million followers. This is better that everything else in it's field. Fantastic gentlemen!
