    this does nothing pal... you must absorb low and high frequencies of the sound. for high ones use the foam for low ones use the mineral wool at least 6 inch thick. that is a real booth wall, everything else is not going to work

      @eddiethatvoguy7901 5 лет назад

      I wouldn't say it does "nothing". And the materials you mentioned are better. But it works better than a closet, bathroom or bedroom.

      @@eddiethatvoguy7901 rockwool is cheap, wrap it in plastic bags it will still absorb low frequencies... no need for cloths and frames if you got no money. And for the mid range and high frequencies? Well you have to buy some foam, 100 bucks will do + 50 bucks for rockwool. You got total of 150 bucks and you will have really really good sound. You will surprise yourself how good it sounds. Also size of the room where you do that matters so use THE Room Mode Calculator. Small rooms still sound boxy and idk somewhat dead but if you dont care about that then you can go ahead and built it just be careful with dimensions. Perfect dimensions of a small room would be 2.14 m x 1.82 m x 152 m. If you are in America I assume it is 5 x 6 x 7 feet. BE CAREFUL, do not reduce the size or say oh doesn't matter I can make the roof lower. You will mess it up. Google >>> THE Room Mode Calculator and put in the dimensions I told you and look at the results that calculator will give you. Then play around with it. If you want a smaller or bigger room, I highly recommend keeping the ratios and just increasing all the sides proportionally. One problem of this solution also can bet hat I said just put rockwool in very very thin plastic bags. Problem is that plastic bags reflect some high frequency and it will sound shitty, that is why I said YOU HAVE TO try to treat it with some acoustic foam that works great for those frequencies. Normally a 0.15 milimeter plastic bag would let all the frequencies below 1000 Hz pass trough and be absorbed by the rockwool. Everything above will start being reflected. At 2000 Hertz as I can remember you will have 50% absorbtion coefficient. At 5000 Hertz you would have 5 times less absorption !! So the plastic bag will influence high pitches of your voice and sounds. Yes your voice is normally not that high BUT it every human voice has many colors and components when pronouncing words and stuff so your voice is not just one frequency but instead a very nice mixture of energy spread across the entire spectrum of frequencies YES INCLUDING THOSE HIGH FREQUENCIES that plastic will reflect and wont allow them to be absorbed in the rockwool. That is why acoustic foam is good. I assume from those 1000 Hertz where problems start appearing, the acoustic foam kicks in just fine, and upwards, it is deal for the acoustic foam to absorb. Just be careful don't be scammed and purchase those foam by telephone or some other cheap ass brand that isnt even acoustically active. Look at reviews on amazon and think what you want... So yes for 150 bucks and some very think large trash bags you can make a really really really good studio setting and you will surprise yourself how great it turned out. If you have any more questions please let me know... And if you say you dont have 150 bucks, I think that console for gaming you have there costs 5-10 times more. So go for it pal!

      @@eddiethatvoguy7901 I have checked your recordings, it appears to me that when you talk your microphone produces a lot of noise and when you don't talk it appears as if the voice disappears. This is somewhat more expensive to solve. I assume you are just using filters in the mixing software and noise cancellation. That is shit to be honest... So get a nice audio interface (NOT A MIXER AND DEFINITELY NOT AN ANALOG MIXER). You need an audio interface to convert your sound to digital OUTSIDE OF THE COMPUTER because computer sound cards are shit! Be careful for voice overs best would be a nice condenser mic like rhode nt1 and since it needs 48 volts, get an audio interface that has this 48 volts option sunc as steinberg u22. IMPORTANT>> install this thing BUT PLUG THE MIC IN WHILE IT IS ON!! Always plug the microphone and then FIRST turn on the device AND SECOND turn on the 48 volts switch. Otherwise you will fry your quality and destroy sound quality. Rhode NT1 mic is a wonderful almmost noiseless microphone to experience that kind of harassment. I literally never use noise cancellation filters with this kind of mic and audio interface. It is pricey though, mic and audio interface like that will cost you 300 bucks.

      @@eddiethatvoguy7901 with this kind of set up which is quite relatively cheap, you can achieve 85% of that what true professionals get in their 1 million dollar studio. It really comes down to beating that 15% of problems that cheap stuff can't solve, so they invest into 5000 usd mics and extremely expensive resonant panels etc etc, but hey? Are you flying to Cali to see Dre? If not, you will never need that and none of your clients will ever hear any difference at all.

      I must disagree. This would probably be very effective. I watched another video on here a while back, where a guy tested a bunch of different materials, including towels, high grade acoustic foam, cheap acoustic foam, etc. and surprisingly enough the towels gave the best result. There's no way sound is going to go through a thick quilt with enough intensity to then bounce back through the blankets a second time, with any amount of noticeable reverb. I've also seen a few videos where even some pro's say the high end acoustic foam just isn't any more effective than cheaper alternatives

    I know it's not a soundproof room, but how much does the sound escape the booth and how much sound gets in from outside? I'm looking to put something together in my apartment for vocal recordings.

      I am not sure how much sound escapes, but loud sounds do come in. Sounds like the AC/furnace, cars, lawnmowers or airplanes flying overhead.
