    Those dynamic shadows from the character's chest look pre cool, and the whole visual style is pretty delightfully ps1-grungy. But I must admit - to me it feel like the camera position is way too low

    Really nice process and good tutorial! I am taking notes throughout this vid. I would love to see how you go about using these animations in engine with the cutscenes and what not. Like how do you plan for timing and interacting with other objects in the game etc.

      Glad you could get something from the tutorial! In case I don't get into those things in another tutorial and to answer your questions: If there are more characters in the scene, I import them into a single Maya project and animate them all together. Since I first block out the poses, the timing can be more easily adjusted by moving around the key moments. The further refined the animations get, the harder it tends to be to make changes to the timing. And in Unity, all animation clips can have keys added to them which I can use to send events to scripts. Most of the events during cutscenes like particles or lighting changes are all triggered using these keys.

      When I started, I barely knew anything and learned as I went. I'd suggest trying the same - maybe starting on a simple concept first to gain experience and confidence.

    It looks amazing! I've picked up blender to learn recently and i love that style you have going on. Do you have any specific creative process when you make models? Something about the lowpoly and crunchynes just speaks to me.

      Nothing too out of the ordinary for the models. It's all lower poly stuff like you said but I do add an extra mesh layer to most assets which have their own detail texture to give the objects a bit more dimension. For example, a regular tree trunk will have the extra layer outside it where I could put patches of moss or bark. If you look close, you should be able to see - especially if you try the demo. Also, I made an in-depth tutorial on my workflow for patrons if that interests you.
