Should I add more weight and maintain the same reps or keep the same weight but do more reps?
It depends. Doing fewer repetitions with more weight will help you increase your strength. However, doing more repetitions with lighter weights will help you build endurance. So, it all depends on if you are looking to increase strength or increase endurance. Both are essential and good to do!

First starting out on arm strengthening, what about of reps per set do you recommend?
If you are just starting, I would start on the lower side and then build up. 2 sets of 10 reps with a weight that challenges you, but not too much that you can't do the full sets/reps. Then eventually add more reps, up to 15 - 20 reps. Then, you can add another set as you keep progressing!

But is it more effective than regular pushups
Push-ups are always a good exercise for the chest and many of the upper body muscles. However, these moves that I show are great for any age or level. Also great if the person doesn't have weights and aren't able to do push-ups. I am trying to show more options. :) Thanks for commenting!
