Elaborate re-amping of synths, marimba, and vibraphones.
Went wild with some elaborate rea-mping while mixing a record for Long Twins last week, and went wild with this elaborate video going over the process and providing some sound bytes fresh off the Sphere desk. Most enjoyable if wearing headphones or in your control room. Thanks for watching

The Making of Deerhoof's "Miracle Level" at No Fun Club
Просмотров 8 тыс.Год назад
Exactly one year ago today, I (Mike Bridavsky) jumped in my car and drove from No Fun Club Studios (a studio I helped design) in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John Dietrich's house in Minneapolis, MN after exporting the final mixes for Deerhoof’s “Miracle Level”. It was 11 pm on the 4th of July as I was driving through downtown Minneapolis, the new record on full blast, fireworks exploding literally a ...

    Why do they record the piano soundboard ?

    • @RussianRecording
      @RussianRecording 7 месяцев назад

      The hammers provide the attack and percussive sound of the piano, while the soundboard provides sustain and body. By mic'ing both and recording them to separate tracks, you can blend them to taste, having control over the ratio of attack and sustain in the mix.

    Hold up, you mic'd up the electric guitars accoustic sound, through a pedal into a mic'd amp. That's super interesting.

    Long time fan of Deerhoof and also the best internet cat in history LIL BUB (and hence Mike Bridavsky by association), this video is absolutely wonderful and the new album holds up amongst their best, easily. I hope Deerhoof make music for another 30 years.

    Hello! Wonderful video. I have an off-top question probably: what camera and lens were you using to shoot this, especially the footage 0:22 - 1:10? The colors and stabilization look great.
