G35 Gets A Rare JDM Grille!
In this weeks journey we venture into the pile of stuff in the garage that I got with the car to finish assembling the rest of the car back together after paint! Super pumped I was able to make this grille work. Super rare discontinued from Japan grille that unlike all the others is not an insert for the factory plastic shell! I polished it up and was able to get it on the car done right and protected along with a cool vent idea for the KBD bumper that did not come with the inserts or a way to mount them as well. For a drift car this thing is coming out stunning! Super pumped on it and I hope you all are enjoying to progress we are making on the car! I’m stoked! Bigger things coming soon!...

This video is very inspiring. I have a 2012 CCSB Lariat that doesn't need as much work, but I see so many of these trucks on here that I thought would be beyond fixing and it's got me spending the money to get mine back to showroom-like condition and a little customization here and there-a restification. Good luck on your build. I'm sure it'll turn out awesome....

Putting rims on a truck is like putting dually wheels on a Lamborghini
might hate me for this but i just had basically the same predicament with my S14 240sx. it was just to nice. I sold it to my brother. I bought a clapped cosmetically g35 for dirt cheap and now I'm not scared of slamming it into a wall. they say don't drift what you don't wanna destroy. Personally the Mustang is way too nice and the g35 you seem attached to as well. drop it for something clapped and go have fun and rip without fearing losing a qtr panel or door.
I actually like this comment. I’ve actually thought the same thing as well. Sad part is my G was multiple colors and had a crushed quarter and I was like hmmm if my business goes on this car I have to make it mint. And did lol. I feel like my ocd makes this process so difficult lmao. My thing is is having something nice to drive around and is still presentable that gets some track time is kinda where my head is at with it currently
I would say the G as a drift car since the mustang has the work in it and will put the value of the car more

Street tires and keep it parked lol. All seriousness I don’t drive the truck much at all it’s my show vehicle so that along with being beyond pampered in her life now goes a long way

How reliable are these 7.3 IDI? Someone is trying to trade me his crewcab 94 OBS 7.3 IDI with 59k miles original for my 75 K5 Blazer. Is it worth the trade?
That’s a tough trade for sure. I’m not sure if I’d do it depending on condition. 2 vehicles of value right there. OBS having that low of milage is a gold mine. But idis are stupid reliable just not the fastest stock. There’s nothing to them and there super cheap to repair. I love mine. I prefer a Powerstroke but being different doesn’t hurt either!
@@Elegant.thanks for the reply. Honestly I don’t care about being fast. I would say the OBS 7.3 IDI hes willing to trade is in better condition than mine. But my K5 isn’t too bad either. I mean they are trucks they are not perfect. But both trucks are California trucks with no rust.

I can’t say that you’re not with a blazer not too sure on the value of those. But a low mileage OBS is very insane to come by! Might be worth it man!

Which of your vehicles takes the longest to start on freezing cold mornings? Does it take longer when it hasn't been used for several days?
None of them are driven in the winter at all. But the diesels are for sure the hardest to start in the cold! Mustang right behind them! Haha

Wait you filled up the entire gas tank with seafoam? I’ve heard people say they fill entire engines with seafoam my question is how does that not break the car?
Haha nah. I mean you probably could tho tbh (I’m not going to try it lol). I just put a can of seafoam fuel treatment in. So then I went the pump to put fresh fuel in it and mix it in there good. This thing has been sitting since 2014 so it cleans the tank, fuel lines, carbon buildup ect and helps burn everything through the motor and keeps it running good. I Always run some sort of additive in every vehicle I got every fill up!

Haha so much 6.0 hate lately it’s crazy
I worked as a fleet mechanic on a fleet of work vehicles with Ford 6.0L engines. The fact that you had to fix it up to unload that nightmare on someone else says everything you need to know about this truck.
I had zero issues with the truck. I know 6.0s have a bad rep. But I never had a single issue with this truck mechanically what so ever. I made it nice cosmetically and mechanically. It was a show vehicle and I got my OBS back and didn’t need 2 diesel trucks to show. Originally owned it to haul my stuff to events and races ect. But then got a van and that became the hauler. So had 2 trucks that just sat all the time. Plus without doing this I wouldn’t be able to get into drifting which was my whole reason for selling it.
The instructor at the Ford Training Center gave us a "heads up" in 2004 that this motor was going to be difficult to deal with. We had to implement three additional maintenance supplements with specific tasks in each one just to keep the engine from coking up internally. One of the best things we did was to add additional Cetane to our 20k diesel tank after each fill up. That info alone saved us a lot of fuel injection related issues in our fleet.
@@robroy9793 oh I bet. I never run anything without additive like that in it. The cetane ratings at pumps today are way lower then what fuel was when engines were designed years ago.
@@robroy9793 this was an 05 truck. 05-07 6.0s were a million times better then the early ones. I’d never touch an early year 6.0 ever in my life. 400+ updates to the later model engines. This one was mechanic owned it’s whole life as well from a mechanic at ford. Great truck if you know what your doing and don’t drive it like a race car everyday
@@Elegant. I am not a Ford fan (E450), and I am certainly not a GM fan (Express). But the E450 Ford Cutaway chassis were certainly better built than the Chevy Express Cutaway chassis. Ford updated the original intake manifold in 2004. There are three variations before they settled on the final design in 2005. Even after the third variation it still had issues with the egr coking up and the heat exchanger getting plugged. I thought the issues we had with the 2003 Ford 7.3L powerstrokes were bad until this motor came along. The 6.0 made the 7.3 look like a wet dream in our shop. Then we started getting the Chevy duramax diesel vans in 2011. The motor was wonderful! Everything else around it was crap!
As a automotive painter and body man for 30 years only way u can fix rust is to replace the panel u can’t fix rust I don’t care what people say it’s a fact
Absolutely correct. You can make it look better. But it’s only a matter of time. So that was going to be my next move. Is to replace the panels and fresh paint. But the cost I already got into it ect I would be at a huge lost. Gotta quit while your ahead sometimes and that’s what I had to do. Financially maturing a little haha
