Excellent!!!! You tubers the best university !!!
Hey there! I doubt anyone will get this comment anytime soon, but I had a few questions for anyone who may know any more information. I'm currently rebuilding my 2000 ZX9 Right now, and am rebuilding the carbs. I have everything else removed, and the carbs are out of the rubber housings, but I am unable to figure out the best and most efficient way to remove the throttle cable, and choke cable. I do have the service repair manual for the bike and have been using it, and following it exactly to a T. However, there are no instructions on that specifically, and it's the only step I have left before they come out together, as one full unit. If anyone has any information or advice on what I'm talking about, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read my question!
Love these bikes! I have 2 of them.
Didn't start it after the clean.... I stayed this whole time just to get edged like this.
I can add the start clip next time i do one.
Hey, can you tell me what you used to seal the holes on fuel pump? I tried jb weld with failure. Thanks
There is a gasket that goes between the pump and tank.
Yeah, i know about the gasket but im talking about the hole you created in the top of the fuel pump assembly so no leaks? Thanks @thepursuit844
Melt
Thank you for this video
We bought a new fuel pump assembly, the flow has power, but the orange don't,the fues, relay are good , but i bout a new one for the fuel pump. Any idea its the computer ot drop the tank and che the orang wires
Sorry i dont recall as this project was done many years ago.
I got the same one. Whenever I start it it idles at 8k and won’t stop 😢
There is most likely an air leak.
most pointless video ever
Thanks, it did help 👍🏼
how many cc's fit into the bar?
I’m not sure anymore as this was an old job. I’m sure the world wide web knows.
My choke won't pull out out of the carb body no matter how hard I yank it. anyone else having this issue? Something is definitely odd with that because yours came out like you could have did it with your toes. i would just leave it alone but it isn't functioning properly. Also my diaphragm is torn.... anywhere you can get those besides dealership?
I wouldn’t use brute force. Play around with it. I’m sure you’ll get it. Any good bike shop can get them or search online.
Amazing video. Rebuilding one for a neighbor and this helps immensely. Looks like we need a better rebuild kit because the one we have is junkshit.
Very bad video
Quick question brotha.... If I'm taking off my factory air filter and air box to put on Air pod filters instead...... What do I do with all the extra hoses? That were connected to the air box?
You’ll have to route them somewhere else. They’re just vents.
@@thepursuit844 I'm totally new to this brother. So I can't just pull them all off can I?
@@johnnymartinez733 pull them off the airbox and ziptie them up out of the way pointed down so they still vent but water wont enter the tubes if you ride in the rain.
@@thepursuit844 thanks man much appreciated 👍🏻 you have no idea... I'm guessing I'll have to reset the carburetor also
The japan harley davidson sportster but with better engineered
Great Video. I know this is old, but for anyone looking at it, it is also worth removing the quarter shaped cover on primary carb, held on with Phillip heads for cleaning and inspecting. Under the cover is a spring and diaphragm that squirts extra fuel on quick acceleration.
I think you're referring to the Coasting Enricher / Afterburner Diaphragm, this is Not for extra fuel on quick acceleration... It's the exact opposite - when shutting off from full throttle it adds a richer fuel mix back to the primary carb.👍
I bought an 84 Maxim X 750 back in the day for $1600 Canadian - only 6000 km on it. Great bike - rode it down the coast to Mexico and back. Was a bit of a sleeper so I made a fair bit of money goading guys with 1200 BMW's (because they have the money) into drag races - wasn't even a contest -I would hit 2nd gear and leave themin the dust :)
Awesome story!! I’ve walked all sorts of Harleys. They are so confused.
lol - my ten spd would beat a Harley. The 5 valve genesis motor was awesome - the Maxim Xwas supposed todo a 11.1 quarter mile stock. Basically what it is is a virago with a FZRmotor bolted into it :) @@thepursuit844
Lovely bike
Thanks. Stay tuned for some maintenance on it this winter.
"Promo sm" 👀
Well this was a waste of my time.
Thank you! This was an awesome tutorial.
my one has two hoses on bottom. where does the 3rd go
Hi. You're very good. I wish you were my neabor. I don't know nothing about motocicle. P.S. I just brought a kawasaki vulcan clasic 800, 2005. If you have done or going to do install the turn lights, please let me know. Thanks again. God bless.
My right blinker is the same... when I squeeze the harness it works. Not sure if I want to cut in or take to the shop and let them
Thank you! 👍
Suzuki Ninja …. Wow
WTF??? CLICK BAIT WASTE OF TIME!!! If you are going to talk about a serious maintenance item on these old bikes then show us what it takes...total BS.
This is the final video on this bike with a simple carb sync. Please go and check out the other videos on this bike if you are interested in seeing more.
This is a brilliant detailed tutorial. Thankyou. Just struggling with low def pic quality. A little blur. I have this XT as well
Test ride video?
Ill work on one.
You didn't do the second diaphram
My 1990 ZX10 is running very rich. The manual says the pilot screw is the air mixture screw. But it's located on the engine side of the carb. Just like yours in the video. Does that mean they are actually the fuel and not the air mixture screws? So I should turn them out from all the way seated maybe 1/2 a turn less than what they were originally set to?
If your bike is way rich then you will have to rejet the carbs. The screws are only for super fine adjustment, between jet sizes. See my syncing video for more on that. I don’t recall if these ones control air or fuel.
Dude if you just wanted to show your bike off go to instagram. This video is pointless & a complete waste of time
do you have a video of disassembly
Sorry, what you see is what I have. Next time i’ll film the while thing.
Now to clean mine.
Vn 800 classic, i need pilot jet adjustment, how do i do that?!?!
I’d have to refer to the service manual which I don’t have on hand at the moment. Off hand I would say, take the carb apart and replace with a different size jet.
It's not a fucking Fat Bob it's a bloody Fat Boy
My fire also go off
i would love to see more of your bike please
Great bike I also have one .I love it. Lots of power and comfortable to ride
Thanks. I've got the same bike
It's a 700 not a 750.
No it’s not. Canada got the bigger displacement version.
I have had one 86’ and you would not believe how I was riding it… Unbelievable bike with indestructible engine. I don’t remember exactly but I think it was going 220 km/h with me and my girlfriend and 235 km/h solo max. I was riding it steadily at that speed. It was in late 90’s in Poland. Let’s say the police back then didn’t bother chasing us with their junk. Unfortunately they upgraded their stuff fairly quickly and limited the fun. One day on the highway in France I tested the bike. Took it with topped off tank and rode it at 100% full speed on the “red” without deceleration all the way till empty. It was only about 100km so don’t get crazy thinking I am making it up. The tank is really small and lasts about 160km when you ride normally. It really happened and I got really lucky maneuvering around cars for the entire distance without slowing even once. I loved the bike. I have great memories with it. But the frame and suspension wasn’t good enough for the engine. Especially sharp turns at high speeds made me review my life several times…
Thankyou. Great tutorial bro. You're a highly efficient tech & top quality video & instructions
Thank you for a great video. I am rebuilding the carbs on my zx7r right now as I watch.
Have fun!
howd that go any tips ? im trying to rebuild mine myself right jow with no experience
Be organized and methodical. Do one at a time so you don’t mix up parts and can reference an untouched carb if you forget. It is pretty simple. Clean clean clean! They can never be too clean.
@@chrisvernon-jy1cmit starts right up now, idles great and has a much snappier throttle response. Like he said, you can't clean them too much. Make sure every gasket and o-ring is in place. They really are very easy to rebuild.
What an outstanding video! Please can I ask, it seems there is no need to set or adjust the main jet? You just screw if in all the way and lock off with the nut? So the only area’s on a rebuild to adjust/check would be 1. float 2. Balance once rebuilt?
I lost my trust on NGK spark plugs. Few months back I replaced on my truck and after a month things started to go wrong. Misfire, blew up the air compressor, alternator, and a cat convertor. Two of the plugs found out under spec resistance. Anyways. I picked up cheap '98 v800 with lots of issues. Smoking exhaust, lots of wiring issues. Learning to fix and make it run.
My ZX9R 2003 carbs won't tolerate super unleaded fuel. Only runs well on cheap unleaded.
Just bought my 2nd maxim, exactly like my 1st which I had to sell 6 years ago. Verrry excited to treat her much better and put the effort you did into her.
Also am in Alberta, we should ride sometime next year!
That is amazing! What maxim?
@@thepursuit844 1985 maxim x 750. Unfortunately, I put gas in it today and had a huge fuel leak from between carb 2+3, looks like I'll be changing gaskets and o-rings and giving the carb some attention over the winter
where can i find a replacement carb for this bike please help 😭
Unfortunately i do not know. Id ask a local bike shop.
@@thepursuit844 the only one i can find is an oem on that’s $700 and out of stock, it hurts my brain
Check old used bike shops and wreckers.
Thank YOU, thank YOU, Thank YOU....made my rebuild so much easier.
