Hey guys! Back with a new video, something a little different this time. Just music and drawing, in all of it's simplicity. Bonus points if you can guess the tunes! Each sketch probably took me about ten minutes each, I've sped it up to about 4.5 speed, they aren't finished drawings of course as I spent a short time on them but hopefully you can take something away from how I approach things.
(Remember that speed comes with practice, I recommend practicing timed gestures in order to focus on the main shapes! However if you want to take your time and spend ...

Studying Gesture with Michael Hampton
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.4 года назад
Hey guys just a video here going through the book of Michael Hampton, let me know if you like the video or if there are any other artists you'd like to see me go over. Thanks for watching :) If you have anything you'd like to see next from me please let me know! Or if you have anything to say about the video that would be great :)
This great, I've been trying to study his style and for some reason I didn't even think about the shadow shapes practice 😅
Glad I could help! I will be making more videos on this soon
@andrewrussell8387 yes I look forward to it!
Would Love to see more about drawing with Shapes. Thanks 🏝️
Hi, I'm here to learn on your drawing method and listen to the music you choose 😁 *Already subscribed tho.
This technique is triggering what Gestalt Theory has explained about human perception of reality. How we sense the world and our brain gathers the pieces around while looking at something. You can check that out but check the physical theory one not the sociology interpretation of it. The original concrete theory about the visuals we perceive.
Yoji Shinkawa is one of the best...thamks for showing
Ok I stumbled upon this video while trying to start my drawing journey. And immediately trusted you since you used Breezy as an intro music. 🤣
More please my goodman I just got back into drawing.
Ppl talking about rayman... I only have ear for final fantasy VIII 😅
Andrew- This style has struck a big chord with me- I love this using Procreate…
Beautiful drawings, I wanted to know which brush you use, I really liked the way it looks.
It's a brush I downloaded years ago, I can send you the pack?
Golden Sun OST?
@@Tree.lancer you would be correct!! Well done!
@@andrewrussell8387 A man of culture I see! Love your videos btw keep up the great work!
Wonderful stuff Andrew! Happy to have stumbled across your channel - I think I remember your stuff from discord, was it Med's server?
@@morrokhai appreciate the lovely comment, yeah I think I invited you to my own server back in the day? The one with the sketchbook channels? Good times, I was in Meds server too!
@@andrewrussell8387 Let me know as soon as/if you make a discord for this YT!
Great sketch and music choice!
@@HassanNur Thank you Hassan!
Hello Andrew! These newest videos are really cool, I enjoyed them very much. Just a question: on what software are you working in this specific one?

@@joesanchez1440 of course! I will do a video on that soon!
I was the only one who though at 2:35 the shape shadow was a bikini?
Haha its amazing what the imagination can do, I can't unsee that now 😂
Thanks everyone for the support so far!! Comment below on what you'd like to see me cover next! I'll go with the one with the most votes! 🎉
I often get caugh in working on the structure of the face, that usually leads to a result that is boring or just doesn't make me feel like its transmiting something. I think this was the advice that i needed to hear now, thanks for making this video
Yeah, sometimes I think that we get so focused on construction that we lose the essence and fun of drawing! Thank you I really hope this helps you in your journey
That was great thank you :D I struggle quite a bit with stylization, and I feel like this could help a ton!
@@-._.-._.-._.-._.-._.- That's great to hear! This is a great method to use to keep things fun while learning good drawing fundamentals at the same time. Let me know how it goes!
Ahhh, another new video in less than a week??? Keep it coming 🙌🏼
Thank you! I'm going to try and stay consistent and post weekly or every two weeks 😁
Hahahahha rayman Music World theme 😂
@@alvarozornoza4437 Haha I'm so happy that people have recognised this 😂

I just found your channel from this video. Looking over your previous teaching videos now. I hope, if you are able to, continue to make videos. These lessons are very well done. You explain things perfectly. ❤❤
@@MichaelDaFonte that's really nice to hear, thank you so much! I will try and make new videos as much as I can

A fellow Scot 🤘🏴 Where are you based dude?
@@RoscoArt hello there! Always a pleasure. I'm based in Livingston, how about you?
@@andrewrussell8387 nice one, I’m in Stirling. Down for an art jam hangout sometime if you’re up for it dude? Not many people around here into concept art etc ✍️
@@RoscoArtoh nice!! Been there a few times, and yeah of course, as you say there aren't many of us around here 😅

@@andrewrussell8387 cool - I’ve dm’d you on insta ✍️
I dont think You'll be able to capture his work because he's traditional and the nature of the medium he use is chaotic and inconsistent the result he gets is unique to him and your using digital
@@luxuriousmindset1906 That's true, digital can never be a replacement for traditional media and there will never be another artist like Shinkawa, however we can still study and practice his techniques, there is a huge amount we can learn from him 🙏
@andrewrussell8387 no you can't study his technique because it's freehand ink drawing that's like trying to copy someone's DNA yall overvalue this copying stuff when he didn't even do that it's why westerners will never be as creative as the east too much reliance on just trying to copy some one else
Not me having googled Yoji Shinkawa a few days prior and now seeing your video up ✨
@@Peionier it was destiny 😂
Yes it's Google algorithm working it's wonder. It tracks down your search and then RUclips shows similar videos.
As a complete beginner, how does one get to this level aside from practice? With so much info out there it can get daunting! Cheers from Vancouver 🎉
@@geburu great question! Od course practice is the key ingredient...as long as it is smart practice. Aside from that, watching other artists is a great way to learn different things and develop knowledge, but honestly application is the key. If you head to my Instagram I'm offering 1 to 1 mentoring soon, but I'll only be taking on a few people
Welcome back don't leave us again! Lol
@@vloopyart haha I will try and stick around this time

Rayman soundtrack as an intro,, so cooooooool
This is your first video I watched and I loved your style. Following for more ❤
Casually awesome.
Thanks 🤭
very nice mate, enjoyed watching you draw traditionally!
Thanks Dan, glad you liked the video ♥️
Awesome, i havent been into sketching for a little while seeing stuff like this is so cool and makes me want to pick up a pen- im sure this will go well, good luck with your challenge!
I'm glad it's inspiring you to pick up a pencil, that's always the hardest part, but really fulfilling once you do it!
Aaaaa its been so long . I also have not been motivated to draw a lot but it will be good to follow along and draw with you . Would love to see you continue this series.
Aww thank you I really appreciate this comment, and I hope you will be able to join in too! ♥️
Yeeee, perfect
Thank you 🥹
I love your videos. you deserve a way bigger audience❤.
Thank you that means so much 🥹♥️
good job this looks helpful
When new video?
today! <3
How do you get your lines so fluid and organic looking? I feel mine look stiff cause i use confident lines but the whole drawing is stiff...
Great arts and skils, thank you for sharing. But a few notes about editing it, the music sound is too loud compare to your voice, it's a tutorial and i always listen carefully but i couldn't listen because i had to turn thr volume down alsmot mute it. Seems like nowadays people like tutorials with no background music. (I know at this time point this video is 2 months old but i though my feedbzck might be helpful) Oh also I thought at the end we will see all styles next to eachother but we didn't 😢.
Dude, your lines are awesome! Very flowy, sharp, loose yet controlled. Kinda reminds me of Ethan Becker. Pls keep making vids!
Inhaling your videos on my day off and now itching to draw. Love these clips. Will you be doing anatomy clips as well?
