Almost every tourist to the Faroe Islands goes to see Sørvágsvatn lake hanging over the ocean. Unique and spectacular. The greater height of the cliffs on either side of the waterfall can give the illusion - from certain perspectives - that the lake is higher above sea level than it actually sits. Very popular day hike to see the crashed wreck (1973) of an American C117D in Solheimasandur, Iceland. 7.4km return - though in high season you may be able to pay for a shuttle to and from the wreck. Fossurin í Fossá is one of the highest waterfalls in the Faroe Islands. Super popular with tourists. You can drive to the base easily. Leynar is just another scenic coast village in the Faroe Islands. Population 116. I'd heard about a popular route for locals, crossing a mountain pass and finishing in Leynar.
