I'm not very familiar with baseball - can someone explain why he still had to run after retagging? I thought if the fly ball is caught out then there's no need to advance. Is he out if he stays at 3rd?
You are correct. The runner did not have to advance. The runner made the attempt to try and score the tying run of the game.
Beautiful. But what’s the 3B Coach doing? We were told to never look at the ball when tagging up, just listen to the Coach for the “go”

Big time heads up play. And a gun for an arm. The Gator third base coach should have been coaching his runner to run to the left of the line too. But he didn’t which allowed a clean unobstructed throw to the plate. Nice play Hogs.!!
I don't know any of the rules so I still confused.
The runner at third has to stay on his base until the catch is made. He then “tags up” and can legally go home. In this case, he was fooled by the centerfielder and had to go back to third to tag up. That allowed extra time for the outfielder to get the ball in.
