Well the cp2 should be suitable for br at 25m ....depending on the wind it is a very accurate little airgun ...using the long barrel of course!!
Agreed 100%, next year I will be using my CP2 alone for a season of 25m bench rest
If you practice enough off hand shooting open sight, you will build muscle memory to where you don't have to spend much time with the sights. If you can get a semi auto repeater, it's good practice to go through a mag as quick as you can on target. You will quickly see your times decrease as you practice and be more accurate at the same time.
Hi, you are correct, practice is key, I probably need to invest in a semi auto
No wind conditions indoors.🤠🇺🇸
True that, there wasn't too much wind on this day
There might be after the sprouts that's Christmas😂
Definitely needs a red dot.
I had a red dot on but it failed and when I shoot comp it is open sights so will persevere with the open sights
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Well that makes sense. I'm getting to the point where I will be needing a red dot on my handguns. Of course, I can't shoot iron sights as good as you!😅
@BrettBaker-uk4te I am definitely not great with open sights or handguns in general, got a proper hiding last weekend at the range. But as you say red dots do make it simpler, it easy though if you shooting free hand
Red dot becomes mechanical, open sights are more challenging, which is the whole point. Likewise dispensing with the bipod and getting off the bench to free one-hand held pistol. Don't do it because it is easy, do it because it is difficult.
Sounds good Jeff, I enjoy a challenge. I still struggle with the 1 handed pistol
Tyrone I have a couple of questions video ideas for you. Could you do a video on how to rest an air rifle without losing the zero on it's butt, leaning against the wall etc. Also on the field sports channel last video a lot of the comments were saying people lost zero after cleaning their barrels they should be left alone (using lead pellets) people are having better results not cleaning !!!
Hi John, definitely some very interesting points you are bringing out, I can try make some videos to bring out the main points
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner thanks Good buddy
Any pest control
If you check some of my newer vids I did some hunting with the CP1
Awesome shooting Tyrone!! I think I would struggle doing that with open sights on my rifles! Hope you and the family are all keeping well!
Hi Anton, Thanks so much. You must give the challenge a go, you have 50yrds easy at your range
Hi,my Artemis seems to have lost some power. Not killing the rats now. Did the tissue test and that was fine..only using it at around 20 mtrs.just about goes through one side of a can,it used to pass right through both sides before..is there anything I can do to it? It has fired around 700 shots since purchase last year.5.5 mm.Ty Paul.
Hi Paul, that doesn't sound right. The tissue test is a good start but a few other things you can check. Could be that you have a leak at the transfer port, it could be that the co2 piercer is not piercing the capsule nicely. Sometimes the little filter by the capsule piercer gets clogged and doesn't allow enough co2 into the valve. I would suggest you strip everything down and do a once over of all the components. I have a full video series on full strip down and reassemble and what to look for
Hi, I think I know the problem now.last night was the coldest this autumn around 3 or 4 oc centigrade .accuracy was way off and when I compensated pellet wasn’t hitting with anywhere enough force to put down a rat. So after looking at your cold test video,I surmise this to be the problem. I’m hoping that a hw 97 will not be affected so drastically as the little Artemis!? Ty for your work. Paul.
Yip anything under 10°C can be a problem for the co2
Could you please let know where you found the cheek riser ??
Hi Andreas, it is a 3d printed cheek riser which we print here in South Africa. Send me an email and we can discuss, tyrone8511@gmail.com
Nice one Tyrone!
Thanks so much Nibs, I really enjoyed this challenge
Honestly I am not able to do that at 30 yards ! 😅 Nice shooting Tyrone 👍🏾
Thanks Klee glad you enjoyed it
Good shooting Tyrone, range tested my CP2 modified barrel pistol, 300mm long, keeps the barrel band and I machined the muzzle for the original foresight, the barrel has a flat on the underside to orient the press fit foresight, heat the barrel and the plastic sight to make pressing on go easily. It performed well, after a rough zero, I was hitting a 70mm dia steel plate 8/10 shots standing unsupported at 25 meters. I have only polished trigger bits and set a long first pressure and a creep free second. I will work on more as time passes over winter. Shoot small Bro... Norm.
Hi Norm, sounds like you did a good job on the CP2. I am glad everything worked out. Yes, please keep me posted with any further work you do.
Oh my god crack shot😮
Hi John, Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the vid
30 yards with open sights pistol is pretty awesome, nice 1
Yip, the good old open sights are always reliable
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Your a better man than me at that distance defo
@paintedpreppers-airguns Thanks, you are too kind
Great shooting Tyrone. Open sights is excellent challenge for sure. 15 yards is a great distance, 10 yards further than my old eyes can do! LOL Your pistol is very accurate for sure. With just a little elevation change all those shots would have been dead center on all 5 of those cans. Thanks for sharing
Hi, yeah Thanks the pistol is way more accurate than I am, it is a pretty col challenge
Where did you purchase the silencer?
This is a 3d printed silencer and it works great

Hi George, yip it is a great part of the hobby, tinkering. Glad you're enjoying the videos, and Thanks for leaving a comment
If windage clicks en then what to do
If windage runs out it is not as easy to correct, what I would suggest is to start by turning both of your scope rings around and see if it is better. If it is still not correct you may need to alternate the scope rings
I wish you review Nova Vista Razer D-02W PCP Air Rifle .22
They have actually just come into South Africa and I really want to get my hands on 1. I think this may even be 1 that I buy ss a keeper for myself
Thank you for the link 😄
Cool comp and forum
Nice video. How much size can i increase of transfer port.
In .177 you can go up to 4mm, in .22 you can go up to 4.5mm
Thank you for the video. My experience with slugs was better. I tried the SpotOn brand Uppercut but in 177 caliber. It is good. I needed to sight it in as it was an inch to the right but it seems to be fairly precise. 30m distance shoots groups of around 20mm. But I must mention that I made it slightly more powerful by inserting 4-5mm under the spring. I am considering to make it even more powerful by inserting additional 5mm and get even better grouping with slugs.
Yip you need the speed with slugs and 20mm groups at 30m is plenty good enough
In low powered guns such as gas or pump-up pistols or legal limit guns the .177 gets higher velocity so it shoots flatter, has more usable range and most importantly, on larger varmits, it penetrates deeper. Where there is no limit, the 22 has more energy delivered to the target. Thanks for the video John Davis Jax Fl USA
Yip you are spot on, Thanks for leaving a comment
Accuracy improved ! Outlook improved ! 😂🎉🎉🎉 Well done !
Thanks KLee, yip worked out nicely, I am very happy 😊
Thanks Tyrone I enjoyed this short series. The result was a good success. Do you plan to blue the new crown?
It is a skill I will need to learn still but could come in handy. Next up on this gun is the trigger
CP2 long barrel mod, I cut the long barrel down to 300mm, and processed as below, so far it looks good, but the muzzle chrono does not like CO2. Accuracy seems good, the extra length will up the velocity only, not accuracy. I expect about 5 ft/lbs when checked...... Tyrone has obviously got Scottish ingenuity, We made the wheels go round.
Hi Norton, why 300mm? Was that a size you liked or was it to remain under 6FPE
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner Any short air weapons (which either have a barrel less than 30cm in length or are less than 60cm in length overall), with a muzzle energy in excess of 6 foot-pounds are prohibited firearms.
@norton750cc in most of the UK and EU yes
This is how it was done here, cut the barrel on the bandsaw, Face the cut on the lathe, low feed rate. face again with a -12 degree feed to the centre. Reverse feed from centre to the outside diameter with a tiny depth of cut. slow feed a 5.5 reamer 4mm deep into the bore, clear the rifling by hand with a small pointed tool, finish with 1200 paper on a toothpick to pollish. Shoot a lot of pellets to clear the exit edges..... I know that we all do not have these options, but the proceedure may help. You do a great job with limited resources
Hi Norton, yip you are 100% correct, with a lathe and if I had a lathe, I would follow these steps you have laid out, it would be more accurate and probably better results but it is what it is and most people don't have access to a lathe so trying to show the next best option
Fair play Tyrone, you're not afraid to get stuck in and figure it out. These are my favourite videos on your channel, it's pretty cool to watch you mod various items and share your knowledge. Great stuff for shooting enthusiasts. 👍
Thanks Jay, glad you enjoyed it. I am also working on the trigger mod video and probably the internals as well, even though they are actually really good
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner The rifle looked a lot better with the carbine barrel and shot well too. Looking forward to those vids for sure. Nice one! :D
For crowning the barrel you can also use a slightly larger drill than the caliber of the gun. So let's say for a cal. 6.35 use a 7.5 mm or 8 mm drill. Hold the drill in your hand and turn in with your hands, don't do it with a machine and work slowly. The result should be almost perfect.
Sounds like it can work, haven't seen it being done before
@@net-twin-de I use a drill on low power with the barrel being held in a vise.
How did you re-crown the barrel tip?🤠🇺🇸
Hi Johnny, you shouldn't pull my leg too far, you might get the answer you were looking for 😉
Nice result 👍🏻
Thanks Kobus, turned out pretty good, need to do a lot more pellet testing with this springer but so far good results with cheap pellets
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner did you by any chance chrono before and after the mod? Would have been interesting info to see.
@KolaDiver I haven't chronied after but before was around 515fps
Will the tongue come out?😋
When are we seeing part two, very curious as to how this turned out.
Hi Kobus, right now
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunnergood result 👍🏻
I use a brass screw and automotive valve grinding paste when I'm doing it
Will also work 100% just a bit more of a mission to clean up
Everyone can take part , eventhough if you are living in an apartment. 😅😅
Hi KLee, exactly that is what makes this so cool, I already entered the pistol(I sucked) and the rifle (10m average).
Only if you're allowed to break ornaments and furnishings. A CO2 pistol can shoot clean through ceiling plaster, and take lumps out of wall plaster on a rebound ;)
?
Hi Steven, sorry not sure what you are asking
Hi, thanks for your video, really helped to strip down my pr900w gen 2(like the Diana storm rider) to fix the sticking bolt, great and clear instructions, got it stripped down and fixed in about 30 minutes, thanks for the video 😊
You're welcome glad I could help
Ran into a problem - broke off my unbreakable bolt! Was going to take the barrel off and couldn’t get the small screw in the chamber to move. Tried heat, even a small direct flame but only succeeded in rounding out the hex. Thought of drilling a small hole - not sure I have a screw extractor that small or using epoxy to insert a small rod that I could turn. If anything, the screw is more recessed than it was originally which is confusing. Not a left handed thread as I recall. Used a small amount of blue loctite on it and apparently tightened more than I needed to. Any diy options? Thanks.
Eish that is not nice, loctite can be a real bugger, if it is set it is tough to undo. I would say the easiest is going to be to just drill it out, same size drill bit as the grub screw and then tap the hole to the next size. What you could also try is to use a dremel and cut a small slot to accept a flat screw driver but that is going to be pretty pedantic on that size grub screw.
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner This not what I understand to be a grub screw but maybe it is. It’s the one next to the magnet that holds the barrel in place.
Oh ok, sorry I thought you were referring to the grub screw which adjusts the bolt action movement. If you are referring to the counter sink screw that released the breech from the tube then the same 2 options mentioned above will apply it may be easier though to start with option 2, grind in a slot for a small flat head screw driver.
Found my #1 screw extractor which uses 1/8”, about 3mm bit. Will give that a try tomorrow.
Tried to drill out the broken bolt hole first since I would still have a working airgun after install oem handle I replaced. Bad light and poor judgement led to some metal gouging on the receiver. Tried the breech screw next - ended up drilling it out after screw head broke off. Hopefully enough threads left to accept another screw. Was able to remove the barrel and with that the bolt came free. Found out you can show the good side of the bolt/handle and hide your clumsy work! One of my first panic moments was finding a o-ring. Replaced it in the breech with no problem and everything was fine. Always seemed like a tight fit shoving the bolt home but understood it takes several hundred rounds before it breaks in. Also read about fat orings - decided to have a closer look at it and now can’t get it back in! Will watch some more videos to see what the trick is. Got my scope, chronograph (one shot before the bolt broke) and a shooting bench that has had a single use. Do you know what the screw size is for the breech screw. I’ve seen M3x.0.6 but would like to confirm before chasing the threads and installing screw. Thanks for your continuing support!
Bonne vidéo bien explicite tank You
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks for leaving a comment
I bought a gen 2 for my son to use and the trigger is a bit different on it , also they have taken a step backward in design and put the pressure gauge on the end of the air cylinder.
Hi Kevin, I did a review on the gen2, I didn't really look at the trigger in detail as it wasn't bad out of the box. I don't mind the front guage too much, Because it is regulated you know how many shots/magazines you will get and then just refill will hardly need to look except to check you not loosing pressure
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner yes the regulator is a good thing for it's consistency but to be honest I'm always checking the guage and I don't like the idea I'm looking straight down the business end lol .
Great part is that you can have fun indoors and out of the wind and rain.🤠🇺🇸
Exactly and they cater for all sorts, spring, co2, pellet, BB, match and single stroke pneumatic pistols. They also have a rifle comp, unscoped 6yrds, scoped 10yards.
They are pretty active on IG! Didn't hear about the challenge tho
Hi Lowkey, I saw it on Norfolk airguns channel. It is pretty cool
My 1077 was garbage broke immediately never held a tank always leaking I have alot of air guns too
Sorry about that, I never had any issues with mine, it was just a lot of fun
My 1077 (old one dating back to around 2012) came with a shrouded barrel the real barrel sits inside the shroud and is nod coaxial with it. The iron sites were terrible and the gun sometimes fails to launch hard enough to eject the pellets out of the muzzle and the trigger is horrible. Overall I was not trilled with it at all. It sits in a box partially disassembled hoping that one day I can figure out why it sometimes fails so miserably.
Hi Louigi, sorry to hear that man. I can only imagine how dissatisfied you are. I didn't have the same issues, not sure if I was just lucky
Now that Gamo owns Crosman, I'm done with them !
Haha, thanks Timmy, yeah not very many gamo fans left
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner I'm no fan of Gamo. I've had 7 out of 11 brake barrels bad right out of the box ! And they will not even let you buy a Screw for the stock You have to send the gun back to them to get any parts !
@timmy4539 that is just crazy, I think the odds of you getting a decent Chinese rifle are bbetter
@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner So true, I have 4 Chinese B3 under leavers, and they all shoot better and are more dependable than Gamos are !!
Nice video Tyrone. Your smile after the rapid fire = shows it works!
Hi Kimberly, yes it was super cool, really enjoyed reviewing it
Nice review . Looking forward to see your next move. 😁😁Power upgrade ? A silencer ? 😆👍
We'll have to see what the owner decides if he want to keep it standard or not
I have an old one with a wooden shaft. This “revolver” DA rifle is a lot of fun for comparatively little money and is more precise than you would initially expect - at least for a “fun rifle” for knocking over cans as quickly as possible. At about 5 joules maximum at the start and maybe a joule after the third magazine, it's not very powerful, but it's enough for the fun it's intended for. It's not worth loading expensive diabolos with it, I use the cheapest ones I can get and it's a real ammo and CO2 capsule guzzler! You can fire three magazines with 12 rounds each to some extent, but a fourth magazine no longer makes sense. Since it takes longer to load than to fire, it's a quick and pleasant way to relax and then just continue working in a good mood. The trigger has no pressure point and, like a DA revolver, is stiff, especially since the mechanics, which are largely made of plastic, have more of a toy feel. In the original there is actually a small O-ring in the plastic nozzle before the CO2 is blown into the diabolo. However, this sealing ring is usually missing. I reinstalled this because it prevents so much CO2 from escaping to the side - I also installed a stronger spring in the nozzle for the same reason. In this way you can reduce gas consumption somewhat. Oh yes, there are also suitable adapters available in stores for attaching a silencer to this weapon - this makes it audibly quieter, although as always you can still hear a relatively large amount of gas escaping through the breech box instead of blowing into the barrel. What is typical of this rifle is that when you shoot quickly you actually reach tighter groups than if you wait a long time between shots! I'm a grandpa and I've been shooting all sorts of weapons for 50 years. Of course, there are much better semi-automatic and fully automatic air rifles. But the next one I can think of that is significantly better costs ten times as much and the next one costs over fifteen times as much as this one - and both are worth the money. But it's really not necessary to spend so much money to have fun for young and old!
Very well said and I agree with you, this rifle is made for having fun and it definitely will guzzle the co2 and pellets whilst having fun
Hi Tyrone, is it ok to leave a co2 carriage installed in co2 airguns after shooting for a couple of weeks or do you deplete the cartridge after each shooting session and take the canister out?
Hi Charl, I always leave mine in and have never had any issues. I think the reason for companies saying that is more for liability issues, if you leave a co2 canister in it and a child gets hold of it, it is still "live"
I have the tactical 1077 with the pistol grip. Only reason i dont shoot it more is because its not very backyard friendly. I'm going to get a buckrail moderator for it and see what happens. It groups well @ 15 yds. I think thats close to the effective range for small pests. Nice review my Friend! Have a great day!. Mine has a slide button that moves the barrell back & forth to make loading easier and its designed to keep the seal integrity from deteriorating but the instructions dont mention it!..😮
Hi Jerry, good to hear from you. Yes, this version also has the tab to move the barrel back and forth, never really used it though. You can definitely get decent groups at 15m with a scope. Mostly it is a ton of fun
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner yes it is a ton of fun!..👍😊
