Isn't the argument @39:11 redundant, where it starts with "Similarly ..." If you've already showed that each X_i has a corresponding Y_j, this means r <= s and the union of these X_i's is X then either r=s or if there is a leftover Y_j, then it can be discarded, since even without that Y_j the union would give X

Why can you use binomial theorem. We don't even know if the ring is commutative or not.
We are doing commutative algebra. All the rings are assumed to be commutative.

Thank you for the videos! I would like to say that Hom_R(A,B) is not necessarily an R-module if R is not commutative (1:08). But it is a Z-module. So in general the induced sequence is a sequence of Z-modules, not R-modules
According the definition of subring which you have explained the set if natural numbers forms a subring of the set of integer but it is not a subring. You have just said that a subset of a ring closed with respect to addition and multiplication with identity is called a subring .
