Star Trails in Wales
Просмотров 2710 лет назад
I took a trip to Wales with a friend specifically to shoot star trails. The results of the individual nights are www.flickr.com/photos/17563528@N00/13247491665/ (over Caernarfon castle) and www.flickr.com/photos/17563528@N00/13248485685/ (over Snowdon) but I thought I'd also throw them together in a video. The music playing is a recording of the Boat Band at Croissant Neuf festival 2012. It's a...

Merry Christmas Awesome song from Spinners
The Liverpool Spinners are a major influence on the popularity of folk music today. Yes, Martin Carthy slagged them off as 'pretenders' to the folk music revival because, I'm guessing, of their more mainstream appeal and admittedly sentimental TV Christmas shows. Maybe a bit too 'sanitized' for the folk scene at the time. God help us. In fact, they were/are seriously good musicians and song-writers and they knew how to engage an audience. As a folk singer myself, I would count the Spinners as one of my influential bands. I have 'borrowed' their arrangements of 'Whip Jamboree', 'John Peel' (from 1966-ish I believe) and 'Spanish Ladies'. These songs are regular features in the set and always go down well. Check out the Dronny Bottom Buskers on Facebook and Instagram. We are a busy but un-famous band, based in Derbyshire, England. Love and peace.
Hi Cidernut On Saturday 13th July 2013 I was sitting next to someone with a video camera filming The Spinners at this concert. I actually booked them for this gig and I have often wondered what happened to the video footage. I got a surprise this morning when these two videos appeared on my screen as recommended to view! I'd love to know if there is any more available that you say your friend took. I shall put them on a playlist on my channel which I opened a year ago to display the loads of material I have been collecting about our club for years, but never had the time, until lock-down, to do anything much with it all. Archives of Tamworth Folk Club by The Folkie Man: ruclips.net/channel/UCeYKGMIihpg8JlUsg__fUWQ The Spinners that you see on these videos are still performing together, occasionally, even though in their eighties, and believe me they have still 'got it'. In the last year they had two gigs in Liverpool which were cancelled twice due to the pandemic but I have just spoken to Hughie Jones and the next date scheduled is October 2nd/3rd at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Music Room. Malcolm Robinson
Hi Folkie Man, sorry for my delayed reply. I'm no longer in touch with the friend I was with at the time. The video I previously mentioned is here: ruclips.net/video/bfSRXueTewo/видео.html but I see from the comments you have already found that. The other videos I have are: Daughter of Water Street pre-song chit chat. Family of Man with me singing over it! The Foggy Dew Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream partial recording with me singing over So the only other one worth I felt was uploading was the Foggy Dew and it's here: ruclips.net/video/4f4O1AWKKd8/видео.html
@@cidernut Thank you for getting back to me. It seems that the playlist I put together on my channel contains all three of the known videos that you've mentioned. Just so I'm clear about this, is the friend you lost contact with the person running the 'NeonTiger Productions UK Limited' RUclips channel with its single 'Family of Man' video? I sent him a message when I sent my first to you, but haven't had a reply, as yet. Thank you for your help and if you do happen to come across any more videos from that Tamworth concert, please let me know. Cheers, Malcolm Robinson
@@archivesoftamworthfolkclub hi Malcolm. Yes that’s correct.
Do these guys still perform? I’d love to see them.
Yes, Mick lives in Devon. He and Hughie play together occasionally. His link is > mickgroves.co.uk/
the other 2 are brown bread
Tony Davis died on 10 February 2017 aged 86 and Cliff Hall passed in 2008 at the age of 84. Mick and Hughie still perform occasionally.
Great music and good people....the best!
This brings back so many memories of listening to the spinners with my mum and dad, singing along to the record. Thank you
sound like a dog fight.
Just came across this and it brought back all those fond memories of seeing The Spinners on TV, his is brilliant.
Paul Walker It gave me similar nostalgia watching it!
Sadly I believe that the Barbarian Broadcasting Corporation have wiped the tapes of their shows.
Loved it! Brings back some great memories x
This is wank
This is actually an augmented version of the Back to Back Hornpipe, an Irish Ceili dance and not Sean Nos. Victoria (of Victoria and Ray) But hey, as well as making loads of mistakes, we enjoyed ourselves.
Love this maff, great feel to it.
Hi there. I have one other (Foggy Dew), but I was mostly taking photos rather than video as my battery was low. My friend videoed the whole evening though so keep your eye open, he already uploaded Family of Man.
Thanks for putting this on - It's great! If you have anymore from the same evening please put them on as there is not a lot of Spinners Live stuff on here! Thanks
Talk dirty Wat is that

Oh, I'd forgotten how funny this was! We in the band could hardly play for laughing and it's become a legend now! I'm going to embed the vid on the Shrewsbury Morris website, hope that's ok!

Yes, it's Aysgarth Falls in the Yorkshire Dales.
Where did you film this? Is it in the UK?
Haha, getting as far as interesting is beyond this video's wildest dreams :)
Well I would classify that as interesting, but not like very interesting.
This is the Boat Band, by the way, plus a few friends, in the Greyhound, one of Pewnkhull's excellent watering holes.
or possibly first Wednesday to type a bit more accurately
Next hornpipe happening(plus a lot of other kinds of tunes and songs) at the Greyhound in Penkhull, fit Wednesaday of the month May 4
Thanks! I forgot to say that someone had already IDd it for me, but they agree with you.
Can anyone identify the bird song?
I think it's well funny that Lizzie says "it's so wrong, so wrong" (about 30secs in, followed by Catt going "but so right, so right") then throws herself into it even more.
