great review bud!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dont worry man one day you're screwed the day after you are a hero my friend . Just ask God
Thank you for your encouraging words!
Hi Matthew. I've just bought the CM28 after your review. Really pleased. One issue I've noticed - when plugged into a computer via USB - I can't record in stereo. It seems to record in MS (mid-side). I've found a few people talking about this on the internet - but no solution. I can't find any specific drivers on the NEEWER site. Have you come across this?
That would be very strange if a wireless mic intentionally did mid-side recording! I primarily tested them with a single transmitter. I'm a little embarrassed to say that...I can't find my CM28s! My favorite wireless set so far, and I seem to have lost them. At least temporarily. I will test this out when I find them again.
Hi Matthew. Thanks for response - I hope you find them! The receiver has 3 settings, mono, stereo and MS (mid-side) - but via usb into my DAW, stereo behaves as mid side. With audio cable it’s fine!
Also, plosives can damage the capsule in condenser mics over time and lead to degredation. Another reason to "always use a pop filter with with condensers"
Good advice! Thank for watching.
I even think it sounds better than the DJI mic. Maybe I'm crazy. Glad I got one though.
Glad you like it! DJI is the one major brand of wireless mic I've never had any experience with.
liked your video i have the Rode Go (first version with one transmitter) and am looking at going to the Blink
Thanks for watching! It’s a solid system.
Do you prefer this over the Lark M1?
Yes. The sound is slightly better and it can record internally. However, if you need really small transmitters, the Lark is a great way to go.
As for my situation, the noise comes from my system fan. Will buying a laptop cooling pad work for me? Something like buying an external cooling fan and attach it to the laptop. Please respond to this message. I know it's more than a year since you made this video. Please help me as I am facing this problem and I have searched all over the internet for weeks. Please help me.
Hi! I'm not sure a laptop cooling pad is going to help. Yes, it will keep the fan from running quite so often or as loud, but probably can't turn the fan off. So there will still be times when it's running. Unless the cooling pad is somehow dampening the sound as well. The best solution is to a) get your mic as far away as the fan as possilble, and b) get your mouth as close as possible (without overloading it). I don't know what your particular use-case is, but that's generally a good solution for most background-noise issues.
@@MatthewHaines Thank you so much. I will try to implement what you just said.
Wonderful review! Thanks, gents.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks!
Always love seeing new videos from you sir! Your production keeps getting better and better! Fun to see you comparing these two, they both seem like solid choices! An interesting thing about the 4100 and 4400, even though they have that similar "boxy" body to the AKG C414, it still uses a center-terminated "K87 style" capsule (as opposed the "CK12 Style" edge-terminated capsule you'd normally find in a C414)! Cheers!
Thanks for your kind words! As for the K87 style capsule, I mentioned that to sE. I got the sense that they weren't really trying to duplicate the sound of the C414 (which in my mind is a good thing). Even though the mic body shape certainly seems to imply C414, these mics have their own sound. Thanks for watching!
Are the outputs stereo for headphones? or is there a way to link the outputs to have them run as 4 stereo monitor outputs?
The built-in headphone jack is stereo, but you're talking about the monitor outputs. They are six mono outputs that can be grouped as up to three stereo outputs. You group them as pairs, so you could have one stereo and four mono for example.
@@MatthewHaines Got it! Perfect, much appreciated :)
Katelin Parkway
What does that mean?
Hello. In terms of playback quality, which card can this audio interface be compared to?
Not sure what you mean by card. The sound quality is very transparent unless you have the EQ engaged, and then it has a distinct character that you won't find elsewhere.
Rule of thumb. If it’s cheap, it’s fake.
Of course! But the "open box" got me.
Oh Boya... Sorry, had to say it. 🙂LOL Got to admit from a price to performance perspective, Boya BY-XM6 S1 seemed awfully hard to beat (I was looking, through reviews, and this video (and a few other video's) convinced me that it was the way to go, esp at $49 CAD. Thanks!
Glad this was helpful! Boya makes good stuff in general.
@@MatthewHaines It was extremely helpful. Still figuring out things for making reasonable quality video's, but the big items are now off my list. Once it arrives I can start experimenting with OBS. :-)
16 bit on this one or 24 bit on Hollyland Lark M2 which is better?
I like the sound of the Neewer a little better, although it’s not a huge difference. The internal recording is a definite plus for the Neewer.
@@MatthewHaines Which one you suggest more?
@@sherintalkz Neewer unless you need very small transmitters.
Watch the algorithm blow up this vid? hopefully its the same for your videos for all you watching?
Thanks! So far it's doing pretty well. Fingers crossed.
In my niche of paintball, many people & players seem to drift towards these. Opinions on our gear do seem to be helpful.
I agree, reviews are helpful. I do a lot of them! I just don't think they're the best route to building a channel (at least by themselves).
As a new channel, it’s helpful to see info like this. So much to learn I didn’t know before jumping in. Maybe it’s not all useful now, but may be important later.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your channel!
I wish I had found this video like 2 weeks ago; it would've made my audio way better at this shoe event I went to! Either way I'm glad I found it now and have learned good tips for future uses!
I'm glad you found this helpful! Thanks for watching.

Not sure what you mean.
We have a new channel and this is great information!
Awesome! Thank you. Good luck with your new channel!
Why do I see this?
Because RUclips loves you and wants you to succeed. :)
Thank you very much for your teachings ... very informative and easy to understand especially for people having English as second language
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching!
Thank you 🙏🏽
I honestly just got really lucky recently. I wasn’t even trying to get monetized necessarily I had less than 200 subs before uploading this 26 min video and then suddenly I’m past 1k subs in less than 3 days and I have 2.4k hours of watchtime
That's great! This must be on a different channel from the one you're commenting on?
@@MatthewHaines It certainly is lol. This is just my passive entertainment intake account. Though I'm unsure how to keep the momentum of these views/subscribers for future videos, cuz I posted another video afterwards that I also put a lot of work into and it didn't get the same level of traction as the big one. It did better than my videos normally would, but not as good as I'd think given the circumstance
@@unknownperson7708 I'm actually doing some research right now on small vs big channels and the volatility of their view counts per video. Larger channel have much smoother deviation between views on videos, which is probably because they have a large subscriber base who watch everything they put out. Smaller channels don't have that, so a few 'hit' videos account for most of the views. There's more to it though and I might do a video on this in the future.
Thank YOU
You’re welcome! I appreciate you watching.
If only it had 1 Hi-Z input
Not on this one. but the bigger CQ-20B has a couple of Hi-Z inputs.
@@MatthewHaines I suppose I could buy an active DI box for it.
Interesting video. My channel is a review channel and I agree with most of what you say. One thing I have started doing is unclick the notification button when I publish a video. The reality is I post a lot of videos and I would never subscribe to a channel like mine. I uncheck notification when I publish my videos because I don't want subscribers to get spammed with my videos. I think it is great if people subscribe but I don't really focus on that happening. My focus is on making videos that do well in search and have evergreen potential. This definitely limits my growth but has been working well for me. Maybe one day I will niche down but I think I am doing well enough not aiming for subscribers that I will probably keep doing things the way I am doing it for a while.
If it's working, no need to fix it! Question for you: does the 80/20 rule apply to your channel? I've been trying to see if and when it applies to channels, both big and small. In other words, 20% of videos get 80% of the views. You put out a lot of videos so I would expect that number to be skewed somehow.
@@MatthewHaines Honestly, my channel is probably much closer to 90/10 or maybe even 95/5. One thing that has helped me though is because basically every one of my videos is a review (i.e. an ad) I have been able to charge money for most of the videos I make. Because of this I am able to create most of my videos and instantly make my money's worth back from the time spent on making the video. The product review space I think is definitely different from most other RUclips spaces in that regard.
@@GoTechGeek Interesting! So even on videos that are getting a couple hundred views, you're getting paid for them?
@@MatthewHaines Yes. A lot of the videos I do are specifically for Amazon though so agents / sellers are paying me to post my videos there then I cross post on RUclips.
I can't stand him, he's probably a nice guy but to me his videos are the worst, his tone, cadence I don't know, he's just so irritating.
Fair enough. Conversely, I can't see what everyone sees in Marques Brownlee, and he's got as many followers as Arun. Different personalities for different tastes! Thanks for watching.
@@MatthewHaines I watch some of Marques, I like his clean no nonsense approach, but my favourite tech youtubers are Flossy Carter and Dave2D, curious as to who's content you enjoy the most and anyone that's influenced your channel?
@@dreamingthelife I don't actually watch a lot of tech youtubers! At least not general tech. I watch Sara Dietschy sometimes. The only reason I follow Mrwhosetheboss is because of his production and editing, rather than the content. I just don't care about new phones. :) I do watch audio and video youtubers though, like Tom Buck, Obscure Mics, JesseDriftwood, Peter Lindgren, Dark Corner Studios...
I love hearing other peoples stories about doing this, working, and having a family.. I had 3 kids 6-4-2 and its a struggle to stay consistent
Thanks for your comment! I can only imagine how hard it must be with young kids in the house!
Well done, I enjoyed your video. The other day I watched a few "interview" videos of Mr.Beast and also one video from Veritasium where they talk about the Thumbnail and Title. Basically the Thumbnail and title does 50% of the work, hence why you'll see they change the thumbnails and titles around quite a lot and why youtube has A/B testing for thumbnails. The Thumbnail gets a user to click on your video, and the first 5 to 10 seconds sets the tone of the video. Try and keep the viewer locked in by having some sort of "award" or something exciting every two minutes or less because attention span only goes so far. A lot to learn from those guys.
That's all good advice! Thanks for watching!
@@MatthewHainesOne more thing that might sound simple, is to just ask the viewer to subscribe (this has also been tested) and it works. I've subscribed to you 😊
I got tvedes mic’s and and IPhone 13 Pro. What adapter can be used to mak these thing’s work together ? Nice video by the Way
I just tried a headset/lightning port adapter cable with the M1V series, and I can't get it to work on my phone. I think you need the phone-specific model, rather than the version aimed at cameras (which is what I have). They do include a TRS-to-TRRS cable if you have a dedicated input on your phone, but that doesn't apply to iPhones.
@@MatthewHaines Thank you for replying.
Your rode procaster is awesome !
It's actually a Lauten Audio LS-208, but thanks! It's a condenser mic that behaves a lot like a dynamic mic in some ways.
Any thoughts on whether a movie review channel would get a lot of viewers? I know other channels of the latter variety have gotten 1 million+ subs, but I still have my doubts as even I don't go around RUclips looking for movie reviews.
One thing to consider is that movie reviews is a very crowded market. The barrier to entry is low, so anyone can do them. There are of course channels that are doing well on movie reviews, so it's possible. It will just take awhile to establish your channel.
Good job sir ❤
Thanks!
I just started and it’s been difficult getting any views or subscribers. I will not give up. Even if it doesn’t go anywhere, I mainly made the channel for myself. Great memories will be there for me Thanks for your advice
It's a marathon, not a sprint! Try and get a little better with each video and eventually the views and subs will start flowing in. Maybe ask a friend to look at your channel and give their first impressions: thumbnails, titles, topics, editing etc.
This video is so edicational ! Thnx for working on the idea of a single take
Glad you liked it! I definitely took a risk on this one.
@@MatthewHaines You aced it bro !!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Didn’t much like how voice sounded with the mic close to you on my headphones but I appreciate thats a personal preference. With this one I keep thinking the zoom h2n exists and that does way more for less than half the price. But i’m seeing videos saying its “swiss army knife” and things like “feature packed” for the price I don’t think it actually offers that much. Also its mono only right. I dont get it. Hype? I can see this filling a niche where you have a retro looking digital camera and you stick this on top.
I think it's about size and aesthetics. The mic is smaller than the H2N. But also, it's just nicer to have around. The Zoom is really ugly. Also, the noise reduction on Tula is pretty good, and it's written to a different file if you're recording, so you don't have to commit.
hey, do you know how it compares to the e50? which would you recommend for dialogue?
I've never used the E50! So I don't have any insight there. The E40 is very capable and a good bargain, but you're going to want a pop filter for dialogue. Like most condenser mics, it's very sensitive to plosives.
THANKS MAN ! HOPE I ALSO GET 😁😁
Good luck!
@@MatthewHaines THANKS❤❤
Why everybody record their audio in a laptop and not in the camera?
I record directly to camera when I'm using a wireless mic or on-camera shotgun mic. But XLR mics need a preamp and then it's a little tricky to get that audio into the camera's input. It's very easy with most video editing platforms to sync "good" audio with the scratch audio recorded with the camera's mic. This is even more important when - like in this video - there are two mics involved.
@@MatthewHaines thank you for your answer. I have a saramonic smartrig +, 2 xlr port, 2 levels. I am surprised nobody use this kind of solution. No sync in post but maybe it's outdated.
But are these Bluetooth like DJI
No they're not. But from what I've read re the DJI bluetooth sound quality, it's only good enough for phone conversations. Also, the price differential!
@@MatthewHaines but I can Bluetooth them to my imsta360 X4 so I’ve been told
