I enjoy all forms of fishing whether it is in my boat on my kayak or landbased - I just love to go fishing.
My boat is a Tabs Territory Pro plate aluminium powered by a 90hp Suzuki. It can safely take me as far offshore as I want to go, anywhere in Moreton Bay or up whichever small rivers and creeks that I want to explore.
I own a Hobie PA12 and it’s a great alternative to the boat and I enjoy local bay and creek trips or the many freshwater impoundments options that I have in my area.
I'm a Frogleys Offshore Fishing Ambassador and as such I use their products such as Gamakatsu hooks, Atomic lures and rods, Samurai rods, Bassday lures, Fuji rod components, Majorcraft rods and lures and Unitika fishing lines when I go fishing.
I fish socially and competitively in both the boat and kayak.
Hopefully you'll enjoy my fishing exploits and can pick up some tips from my videos.

Chasing Barra at Monduran Dam
Solo trip to Monduran Dam - only there for a one and a half days. Got a few, missed a few and had a few battery issues that cut the trip a bit short. Took the drone and had a few issues there as well!! - watch till the end!!

Kayak fishing at Wellington Point on a perfect day. The day became special when a humpback whale visited me! It was a successful day with a mixed bag of wrasse, sweetlip, school mackerel and small snapper.

What rods are you using lex good work mate 😊😊
@@LeighWoolley mate I use Samurai rods - an older Kestrel 10-20lb & an Elevate 16-25lb spin rods and the Refraction for my baitcaster
Not just a bream slayer 😀. You also gave me a laugh when your drone misbehaved, as I thought I'd never hear you curse 😂
@@TheRoastontoast There are occasions!!
What tide are you fishing?
@@mrgreenswelding2853 This was on the run in - doesn’t matter too much just so long as there is some movement in the tide 👍
@@lexirwin thanks.
Shesh you're so chilled with that shark hanging around lol
@@sonniesfishingadventures happy for him to stay in the water and for me to stay in the kayak!! 😅
Great vid mate. That wrasse was a purple tusky. Great eating when ya can’t find the black spots.
@@Thekingcraneman Thanks for the info 👍 cheers
I saw that your video content is very good. Also, your video Thumbnail is very attractive. But the problem is your video have much not engagement like comments & views. Other was reason in your video keyword section area was not perfectly up to date.

G'day Lex. New to your chanel mate I really like what you are up to. What area do you do most of the kayak fishing?
Hi Mate - mainly Southside - Wello Point, Tingalpa, Cleveland areas.
nothing like the sound of screaming drag
Pity it got to the reef though

Oh yeah… that claw at the end looks awesome!!!
Yeah Will the others were just the same! - Just got back now from setting the pots again 👍
What bait are you using if you don’t mind answering.
Crabs - I collect them along the rocky foreshores at Wynnum
@@lexirwin thanks for answering do you use them whole?
Yes Have a look at this video I did about a year ago: ruclips.net/video/q2TDGZlE6eQ/видео.htmlsi=hBNmujl-ZngB35Sj It shows me picking them up. Also in the video you see the crabs & how I put them on the hook
@@lexirwin thanks so much for that, I appreciate it heaps.
tighten your drag.. its way too loose.......
It’s probably tighter than you think

Only small ones George - need to try for some bigger ones👍
Your vids are getting better n better by the day mate 👌
Thanks Sonny 👍
What size of jig head mate? Also do you think kayak is better for shallow water as they are more stealth and quiet compare to being on the boat
1/8oz Atomic Seekerz in 3/0H size Doesn't hurt being in the kayak in stealth mode.
Awesome Did u get the cuttlefish around peel?
No mate out off Green in about 6m 👍
😢 *Promosm*
Good stuff, Lex
Thanks mate
Another great video Lex! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate 👍
Hi Lex, i do my GO PRO Videos for home but the old 2.1 Studio has closed down , one of the other guy's is using Video Pad and is happy with it , so just wondering what you are using, they are clear and crisp, mate. if you dont mind. Cheers Chris
Chris - I use relatively old GoPro Hero 4s - surprisingly they provide good footage. I edit with Filmora Wondershare - I can’t remember what I paid for the subscription (maybe around $80 - not certain on that)
@@lexirwin Thank's Lex, i have been looking at the FILMORA i had a trial version ,but i think after the few days you seem to have ,water marks or problems with re-running the video your working on. it would be Video pad or Filmora. cheers mate
Best way to fish for big tuskys is leave your rod and reel at home and get yourself a handline around 60 to 80 lb with no sinker if possible with a 6/0 or 7/0 hook. Most of the time they will run you straight through the bottom but using the handline you will be able to skulldrag you're fish out of the bottom
I’ll take that onboard - thanks
Nice fishing lex! I have also been trying my luck with the tusk fish. They pull so hard and are very addictive to catch. You should try the rainbow channel. They grow a lot bigger there 👍🎣
Thanks Peter - I've had a bit of a look there but it needs more investigation.
Do you ever get any real big ones? Tin can bay/rainbow beach house monster black spots 15+ kg
@shes_cactus9349 Mate I've been searching - eventually I'll find 'em🤞
Nice video Lex, do you have a preferred depth of water for these guys?
Mate for the smaller fish usually around 8 to 10 feet
@@lexirwin thanks! If we get a break in the wind I’m looking forward to giving it a go. Predominately we catch Venus tuskfish (as snapper bycatch) so great to see that you are getting black spots so consistently.
Looks like mud island
Bit further south 👍
The master at work…..😊
Looks like a good spot, what suburb is this from?
