With your review of the Yamaha TX750, you forgot one key fact, its handling which was terrible to say the least. I bought one 2nd hand from a friend back in '74 and nearly killed myself trying to take 3 corners in the same way I had taken them before on my previous bike, which was a 1971 T500 Suzuki.
An American's gotta love them but they are toseers. See donal trump!! The lavada dear me!
I owned a '73 H2 750 and the nickname "Widowmaker" was extremely inaccurate. I was never married when I owned that bike so it couldn't have made any widows. That bike felt like it was designed not only by someone who wanted to kill me but who wanted to waste as little time as possible doing so. It handled like a deep freeze on casters, braked like a kid's tricycle and spent twice as much time on one wheel as two. Riding one was a little like riding a roller coaster without seatbelts and with butter on the seat. You didn't so much enjoy or hate riding one, you survived the experience. If you were smart, you said a prayer before mounting up and another one when you shut it off. If you were stupid (hello, self!), you spent much of the ride with a crick in your right wrist and looking straight ahead through the front wheel spokes. God, I miss that bike SO much!! Surviving it, I am certain, made me a better rider afterwards because no bike I've ridden since has shown me anything I haven't already experienced and come through unscathed.
Haha 😂 But how is the nickname inaccurate then? Just cause you didn't have the wifey yet?
Interesting use of selective and incomplete facts, also several factual errors in the video.
Those "Plastic" tensioners you bad mouth are made of the same material all cam chain tensioners in Jap bikes and other motors are made of. I had one fail in my KZ1000 Police bike at 30 K. But call them 'plastic' that makes it sound substandard. That gets a lot of Haters happy. My 88 traveled 118,000 miles in them and still had many miles left when I sold it. All one had to do was follow the FSM. Granted, the hydraulic ones were a better choice
AI BLASTS AMF like a typical drunk know it all in the local pub. AMF brought in CNC equipment and started development of the EVO using those new machines. They saved HD. Willie G and the Davidsons knew HD under AMF was on the right track and reacted accordingly, buying back the company.. Also Shovelheads still cruise the Highways of America and other country's. They are not junk
Street 500/750. Absolute L
Ruled????
?
The worst was de 88 Twin-cam. That thing was getting so hot, you had to park the bike at every traffic light. It leaked oil at the cylinders and those cam-chain tensioners were really bad after 50.000 kilometers. And Harley Davidson failed to inform the customers about those bad chain tensioners, so many people destroid their engines, because of the plastic parts in their oilpumps.
How long did yours last?
@@Motor-Sphere About 31.000 miles. It traded the bike in at the dealership for a 2010 96 CI E-glide. That bike is now 14 years old, and still has good ( hydraulic ) tensioners and never runs hot because of the improved piston cooling.
@@Motor-Sphere I have seen many with no problems at all just check the tensioners every season and your good !~
2003 88 Road King actually the cam chain tensioers wear and maintenance ADREESSED IS in the FSM. I followed it to a t and when I sold it with 118,000 miles (USA) it still had 20-30 K left on the last set I put in. People buy these bikes and think that they don't need a FSM
I have a 2000 88 it's not the engine. Once you take care of the cam issue you are fine. I have no leaks runs strong at 50000 mi . Easy to work on too
I had a Honda 500 single cylinder and boy it had some power im sure you could have climbed trees a great bike
😂
I Had a 1980 Suzuki GS 850L, it was the best bike I ever owned, with 27,00 + miles on it .they best.
I always felt the Kawa 500 was a better bike than the 750, handled better and still scary fast, both shared the same frame which is why the 750 just didn't handle as well (to me anyway), things got worse when Kawa came out with the big 1000cc, 4 cyl, 4 stroke and they stuck that monster engine in the same frame, it was fast but coming out of a curve and quickly hitting 100+ mph the back wheel seemed it was trying to fly off and go its on way. Too old to ride now but sure wish that 500 was in the garage just to look at.
The CB350 I have owned 2 of these . Both will climb out past 115 mph . I have seen 120 mph on the right days .
The 1969 Honda CB750 was a year year only sand cast engine . Those would bring $15,000 tops but not the later models .
MD The
Stallones te All T Way Man
CX 500 was top heavy, poor slow speed handling
So much wrong with this silly list. The Honda CB750A was not called Hondamatic either affectionately or sarcastically. It was called Hondamatic because that was its name written on the sidecovers. It would help if you showed pictures of an actual CB750A instead of those of a regular k-series CB750. The CB750A does not belong on this list. In their september 1976 issue, Cycle World compared the CB750A with CB750F, which was the performance version of the CB750. The top speeds were 110mph for the F and 97mph for the A. More telling is that contemporary road testers loved the Hondamatic and predicted a huge success. Another bike that doesn't belong on this list is the Moto Guzzi V7 GT. This is currently a highly sought after model. In its day the 750 H2 won every superbike comparison held by magazines at the time thanks to its performance and handling. It was never called the "widowmaker" in its day, that moniker was bestowed on the original 500 Mach I from 1969. Today, you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to acquire one. Edit: 23k views but only 154 subscribers. With this sort of blather, that's not surprising. Do better.
I'm reading all the comments, taking into consideration people's opinion and experiences, and I'm updating the lists regularly. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this. A bit of rudeness but still pretty constructive 😉
These people are out of touch.
Who the hell are calling these ugly?
I'm just selecting the ones that have had the most criticism regarding their style. They are still great bikes for the most part.
I’ve got 2 XT500’s. Brilliant bikes.
In the late 60's, Montgomery Ward's sold a 250 Benelli for $350. It wasn't much either, but it worked.
It is an opinion, not a fact!
Absolutely!
Amazing bikes
The CZ was $120, 000. Wow!
I have the feeling you did not live in the 80s.
You forgot to mention another masterpiece : Yamaha RX100 a true dragon
Will surely add it in another episode!
Cool
Excuse me, but back then, I knew a man who was the chief tester for New Zealand's Ministry of Transport and he tested motorcycles that were being considered for Highway Pursuit Motorcycles. He told me that the original CB750 could BARELY manage ONE HUNDRED MPH! He tested it with the top speed testing equipment available to the MoT at the time and he git it to 103mph on its best run. I keep hearing about these 120mph Honda CB750's, but I never met one when I was riding my 1969 Triumph Trident, which my aforementioned friend tested at at top speed of 131mph. It was a four speed, but it was the fastest of the Tridents over their 6 years of production. I also raced a few Kawasaki 750 H2's as well and while they weren't slouches, speed-wise, since they used more petrol than a 6litre V-8 when ridden hard and they flexed so badly, it was like the frame had a hinge in the middle. The Trident 'woes' you mention never showed up on the ones I owned, but then, I knew how to look after my bikes. The Trident is still the only bike ever, to win the Isle of Man TT for five straight years. The Trident's main problems were that the BSA management didn't want them produced and did everything possible to make life hard for the designers to put in the things THEY wanted to, like Disc brakes, horizontally split cases like the Honda, and so-on. The senior management of the BSA group actually wanted to get out of the Motorcycle industry so they could concentrate on the other cessions of the manufacturing group. They got their wish when the motorcycle arms of the group went broke in the early 70's. The oil leak slur is as old as the one often hurled at Harley Sportsters; that they're a girl's bike, or not a real Harley. I now ride a Sportster and I find it has plenty of power, so I don't take any more notice of the 'British bikes always leak oil' myths, than I did back in the 70's when I owned and rode them. nearly a decade on a Triumph as my only form of transport means that they were not as bad as so many 'motorcycle journalists' have painted them. I don't believe the media about most thing these days and the motorcycle media I stopped paying attention to decades back.
Interesting experience, thanks for sharing!
I've personally ridden one 123 mph (ca. 198 km/h) that was stock but tuned well, and the speedometer was accurate to within a couple of mph. My Honda 750F2 would run 126 mph (202.78 km/h) with a four into one header, high flow filters, and tuned correctly. I'm in the States.
A new XS650 would be welcomed.
for some people that are crying and dont listen he also mentions the year of the model
Let the truth be told, a Chinese knockoff of a Harley-Davidson performs like a Honda.
The Laverda was one of the most beautiful bikes ever built, every inch a classic, surpassed only by the even more legendary, unfaired, Jota (original version).
I agree 100%, I had the chance to buy 2 of them but like a fool I never bothered, silly me !!
H2 never deserved the Moniker as Widow Maker. Gained from people who never really knew how to ride in the first place, The H2 handling could be tamed quite simply by adding a steering stabilizer like the one on my 1973 H1 500. Just Hype here on this video! Oh! Yes I rode one on the same day I purchased my H1. Too many 🤡on You Tube! It was not about the frame, it was mainly about the tires.
The Laverda 3c was an awesome machine, big and heavy for sure but handled well, you just had to show it who's boss, it weren't for wimps.
Who you thinking of? 🙄
😅 Die Liste albern. Die V7 Sport hatte Elektro Probleme? Ja und? Intressierte keinen, die lag gut auf der Straße und zog wie sau, alles andere ist doch nur alberner Kram umzu.
I own 2018 Himalayan 😤😤😤😤😤and I agree. every 2 weeks the battery just dies
Yes new XS650.
The H2 750 is not better known as the widowmaker as it was the H1 500 that earned that nickname.
I had an H2 and H2C, no problem. Don't take this video seriously.
Yes obviously some people will have experiences that don't align with the content of the video. The video is not based on my personal experiences or choices, but on my research on the topic. It's not possible to name a bike that had issues on 100% of the units sold. We can safely say that a bike that had issues on 5% of the units is trash. But regardless, 95% of people will have had good experiences with this bike. I hope this clarifies the content of the video 😊
They did a Honda 400 auto as well ,,I had one ,,FOR a week 😁😁
I have owned a Yamaha TX-750 for over 10 years but it has now been sold several years ago. I really miss that bike but I got good money for it. I had no problems with this bike. It had an oil cooler and a larger oil pan. Used singel grade SAE 50 engine oil. It was a very great bike. Now I own a 2018 Royal Enfield Classic 500 and the bike just runs and runs without any problems at all. Great bike!
Had K.H.250 Tippplegood reliable bike traded it fooŕ Yam.RÐ250.(Very nice )
The gsxr 600/750/1000 are one of the most reliable sport bike out there. Kinda confused
The No.1 bike is like Trump, promises a lot but delivers little! 😂
😂
These are all collectors items. Who wouldn't want one now?
You'd surely want one back for your collection, but probably not on the market😂
56 years and over a million miles in the (Harley) saddle and I can confidently state that a bike will treat you well if you treat it well. Those blaming their bike for being unreliable have mostly only themselves to take that responsibility. My 24 Harleys, from '31 Flatheads on through a bunch of Pans, Shovels a Knuck and now a TwinCam, have proven this.
Respect 🫡
The Honda 500 series was quiet interesting. I thought they were bullet proof.
Im just as happy with my 2001 Chevy Z71
I just clicked this video. And before watching i'm gonna assume. Most of these unreliable clinkers are going to be HARLEY DAVIDSON. THE MOST UNRELIABLE SHITBAG EVER MADE... INTERESTING FACT YOU KNOW. BACK IN THE DAY HARLEY DAVIDSON USED TO BE A BOWLING BALL COMPANY. WELL THERE'S STILL MAKE BOWLING BALLS JUST WITH SEATS. AND A MISERABLE EXCUSE OF A MOTORCYCLE 😂.... BUT ALL SERIOUSNESS I RODE A COUPLE OF HARLEY DAVIDSON'S. AND THEY'RE NOT THAT BAD. BUT YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME OWNING A HARLEY ✌️😎
😂😂
Well...at least you speak from vast personal experience 😂
