so glad I got the true end before watching this. its been a video I've been anticipating. so many spoilers. not complaining. so much better than a roundabout review. this is the greatest piece of fiction I've ever read and I agree with all of your points on the themes and characters. well done

Muramasa is good and I like its themes, but somehow I can't manage to love it. It has almost anything to make me love it to the core (samurai robot action, alternate history, several excellent fights, moral conflicts, a great heroine [Ichijō], interesting setting, ZIZZ music, great narrative)... But it... kinda frustrates me. There are various elements and developments which left me a bitter flavour during the routes, like the bomb during Kanae's route simplifying everything, how "average" I found the revenge and punishment theme in comparison to many other works which deal with it, how it skips a bunch of stuff before the first two routes and before chapter 5, the bomb again during Ichijō route (but I don't mind that much then), how Chachamaru and Muramasa's routes are mixed, making me dislike the part when Kageaki's leaves her after their oath during that same route, how Chachamaru got just an ending instead of a whole path, and some elements during routes I find rushed... Dunno, in retrospective I give it a 3,8~4/5 but its loose ends in those regards annoy me. Also this is personal, I don't like Kageaki. He's a good and appropiate protagonist, but I'm pretty neutral about him. Tho, I can't stand Hikaru. I wish I liked it as much as many people and my friends, but I find it just "notable", but not excellent. I'm just sorta neutral about it... But how to put it... My fav route is... the common route? Next Ichijō's. That was pretty tigh. I'm sorta whatever about Kanae's, and Muramasa's... mixed (some aspects brilliant, some forced in my eyes and make me rise a brow). Tho, Muramasa's route epilogue is great. I learnt japanese to read this novel, and it's kinda sad that I don't love it despite actually loving to the core certain individual elements.

Like a lot of great VNs(and stories in general), this one of the most ludicrous yet profound stories I have come across

Hikaru is easily one of my favorite characters that I've had the pleasure of bearing witness to in all of fiction. Wise and immature in equal measure. She understands the law of might thoroughly enough to cheat it, and what does she do with that? Attempt to correct her upbringing using a ridiculous scheme, a very understandable and youthful thing to aspire towards. Wonderful writing. She is exactly what a child prodigy's psychology would reflect given the circumstances. Every time I heard her theme I knew something magical was going to happen. Chachamaru was indeed robbed. If there were a 30 hour expansion in service to a true route for her I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Considering the redhead general is the only one without a fight scene and her section being so short makes me think there was more planned but couldn't be produced for whatever reason.

To be fair, he did mention less is lost in translation (less localization issues by having it in original language) and he did mention that Japanese VAs do have insane amounts of training compared to English VAs. Point 3 is basically the same as point 2, plus he mentioned setting as well. I don't think you guys even disagree about the points, I think you guys just have different opinions and priorities about them, plus I think his video was more for "entertaining" than for debating.

THAT'S IT! I feel like the things Muv Luv do with its VN format have more effort and care in its presentation and making it more immersive for you. And people really don't mention it enough I'll say. It's not just the VN characters, the mechs, the BETA, they animated as much of it as they can just so you know what's happening even if it's quite hectic in the heat of battle. Can people tell me if any other VN does this to the degree that Muv Luv does it? I'm genuinely curious.

This is a fascinating video. I used to really like the term media literacy because it would allow me to counter the obnoxious users of the word. For example: if they said “you can’t interpret Celeste as anything but a trans allegory!” I would say “very well, then you cannot interpret x y or z as an allegory to further your agenda either”. HOWEVER, after watching this video I think I agree with you. I tend to view media through different lenses depending on my feeling at the time. (For example I interpret Subahibi and Muramasa through a very Christian lens, I never claimed it to be the right way and it certainly wasn’t the author’s intent but it’s just one of many ways to love the media given the evidence and my experience) As of right now I think I will stop using the term “media literacy” good sir! (Also I’d love to see a much longer video on the subject, idk if you would want to deep dive on it though)

You have a very interesting take on uncle, and that’s alright. I myself don’t see him that way. I don’t see many redeeming qualities about him nor many of his actions that would invoke a feeling of empathy toward him. I will say he is a survivor though but not much more.
