Sir can u plz tell me the division of segmental phonology .
Thank you for watching the video.... I will.....
The division of segmental phonology can be categorized into three main components: phonetics, phonemics, and phonotactics. Phonetics: Phonetics is the branch of segmental phonology that deals with the physical properties of speech sounds. It examines the articulatory, acoustic, and auditory aspects of phonemes. Phonetics studies how sounds are produced (articulatory phonetics), how they are transmitted as waves of sound (acoustic phonetics), and how they are perceived by the human ear (auditory phonetics). Phonemics: Phonemics focuses on the abstract and categorical aspects of phonemes. It studies the distinctive features and contrasts that distinguish one phoneme from another in a particular language. Phonemics is concerned with the functional role of phonemes in conveying meaning and how they are organized into a system of sound patterns. It analyzes the phonemic inventory, phoneme distribution, and phonemic contrasts within a language. Phonotactics: Phonotactics examines the rules and constraints that govern the permissible combinations and sequences of phonemes within a language. It investigates the patterns and restrictions on how phonemes can be organized and arranged in syllables, words, and phrases. Phonotactics analyzes syllable structure, phonotactic constraints, and the phonological processes that occur at the boundaries of phonemes.
