    I'm not sorry, but I would've burned them all in a 55 gal drum in my back yard. Were these Japanese soldiers innocents or did they perpetrate beheadings of US Marines and US Amy soldiers that were helpless in captivity among other atrocities ? Prove you fought honorably or you get no flags. How about that ?

    My grandfather, who passed away in 2004, was also in Burma (with the U.S. Army) at the time that this Japanese soldier was killed. He came to be at peace with his former enemy. This video shows that such peace and closure are possible.

    There are so many such flags listed on ebay. I wish they would turn them over to say the Japanese Embassy in America or one of the organizations I've see in such RUclips stories to be returned to their families in Japan.

    Wow, this Aikido school actually lets you touch a simulated attacker? Not that it isn't still a scam with no self-defense application, but I'm just surprised there's actual contact being shown, even if there's no resistance or effort put in by the 'aggressor'

      O comentário do senhor SUNTONO MARDI é preconceituoso e parcial devemos diferenciar um criminoso de guerra com um cidadão enviado para o campo de batalha e isso vale para todos os países Esse cidadão japonês que morreu em combate que crime teria cometido para ser taxado de criminoso de guerra , para meu conceito de avariar os CRIMINOSOS DE GUERRA são aqueles que mandam os jovens do seu pais matarem outros jovens de outros países ou até mesmo mulheres e crianças e não é difícil encontrar BUSH ´,PUTIN, HITLER TOJO e muitos outros

      一山田 What history books did you read? I heard of some Japanese book publisher twisting history but damn where did you come up with that nonsense. Go ask the Koreans, Chinese, Filipinos, Thai, Australians, Indians, Russians, etc about your comment. I am afraid you will be disappointed.

    • @ChicagoRonin
      @ChicagoRonin 5 лет назад

      You know, I realize you made this post four years ago (Just read it now). So, who knows, maybe you aren't on RUclips anymore. But for what it's worth, I (the translator and poster of this video) am half Japanese and half Korean. I am also an American citizen, and my paternal grandmother's two brothers served with the US Army in Europe during WWII out of Hawaii. I've also studied the history of WWII and Japan's relationship with its neighbors extensively. I don't forgive the Japanese government or military of that era for what they did. And whether fair or unfair, future generations in Japan will (and should) bear criticisms for what happened. And I really wish Japan did not suppress teaching its wartime history in its schools. But in this case, I think it's important to remember that even on the aggressor's side in a war, there are everyday people who end up facing tragedy or heartbreak. It's true, Mr. Sakamoto's father was part of an invading army during a war of aggression waged by his country. We don't know from this video if he was directly involved in war crimes, but we can guess based on circumstances. But Mr. Sakamoto was just a child then. And for me, this is the story about someone who lost his father and found a way to be somewhat at peace with it decades later. And that should speak to anyone. At least, I would hope.

    That's it? Our testing covers everything you have learned. All of the Kyu's - Sandan. It takes hours of testing, not just 12 minutes.

    • @nateburd
      @nateburd 9 лет назад

      Funny enough, I've not seen a sandan test on RUclips that wasn't around 12 minutes. In the USAF, there are no specified techniques for sandan (and dan ranks above that aren't listed, I imagine it follows the same "whatever the testing instructors want to see" path). I've been in tests that lasted about an hour, but haven't heard any that last hours. It must be assumed that the candidate knows the kyu level techniques and doesn't need to demonstrate them. There is something to be said about having a short test as the evaluators are looking for "level" proficiency and not necessarily a broad range of techniques. How one executes a technique gives them a good look into the progress of the Aikidoka. But I still hope for a longer sandan test (it will be my next test)- not that I really care. Rank means very little to me. It is all about the training.

    • @Udansha
      @Udansha 6 лет назад

      When Yamada and Kanai sensei give the exam, such as in my sandan test, you dont complain to shihans. Just saying.

    • @lancejackson9108
      @lancejackson9108 5 лет назад

      Dan grading isn't a question of more techniques. Examiners look for ki connection between mind body and partner. This connection looks very different between first, second, third and fourth dan. The distinction is visible in the first few minutes; the rest is merely a formality. Also, aikido exam represents the end of an earlier stage of development, and the beginning of the next stage. This achievement is normally recognised by the instructor during training, so the exam itself is again, merely a formality.
