Everything ALWAYS sounds just so pristine Glenn. You’ve got the trifecta: well tuned, well recorded, and WELL played! What snare is this? It’s has everything. Body, the right amount of sustain, crispness and articulation…perfection.

Nice! Glenn, you running a mic under the Pandeiro? If so, which one? It's crazy the low end that comes off of it. I have one on order.
Well I was running the submic which sounds amazing on the Pandeiro but for this I just moved the hi hat mic down. I wasn’t really intending on using it but that will teach me 😂 Yeah, amazing bottom end 👍
@@GlennWilsonDrums Your i5? I got one of those on order, as well ha! I was meaning to ask, since you're in Australia. Have you played any Nowak snares? I own a 14x6.5 Brady Jarrah block (love it, records so nicely), but would like a 12x7 Jarrah block, as well. I've heard they're as a close to a Brady as you can get. All the specs are very Brady - 1/2" shell, sharp 45's, same snare bed type, even leather washers. Just curious if you've checked them out.
@@drumtravelfun No I haven’t. I haven’t thought about snares in a while. I’m so happy with the ones I have at the moment 👍 I’m sure they are great though 🤘

Thanks for checking it out! Yeah I like it. I’ve gone back to a Rode NT5 these days but I had the i5 up for ages. Very cool separation if you aim it straight down. Great mics. Also really cool on snares 👍
Glenn, my Catalina Club Snare Drum became one of my favorite snares… even after reading all of the negative reviews. I liked it even before I fitted it with 302 Hoops to have more side stick playing solidity… but there is something about it, like the rest of that line from Gretsch. Love it and them!
You’ve managed to mix the drum set so well that it sounds like you’ve used high-end samples. With this room size, it’s an art to get it to sound like that. No "boxyness" whatsoever. Excellent work. And your drumming is, of course, top-notch as well!
Hey thanks. Really kind of you to say. Yeah, I’ve stayed away from samples as I’m trying to improve as an engineer but there are some great sites where you can download sessions from top studios and try and emulate the rooms sounds with FX, that’s what I tried to do anyway 👍

RE: Angled bass drum. I've been doing that since watching Billy Ward's amazing 'Big Time' DVD many years ago. He covers this in detail. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend checking it out. I think you'd find his discussion on bass drum/toms/etc setup quite interesting and relevant.
