First off I can’t believe they made Ruffnut Thorston grossly overweight in this movie nothing against the actor Bronwyn James but WTF. Secondly, our nepo baby actor Nico Parker has now replaced two ethic White characters first in The Last of Us tv series and now HTTYD movie. They are gaslighting us saying she was the right actor for Astrid because we all know Hollywood has been pushing DEI by replacing established known White characters by race swapping them. Not only that it’s obvious they made sure to not have White blonde hair Norwegian looking characters such as Astrid and Ruffnut in this movie. There was no reason to bring HTTYD to live action unless the establishment was pushing their usual propaganda narrative.

Honestly, I don't mind the actress that is casted for astrid cause if u really look at the actress's face, u can see some similarites in the actress that makes her look like astrid. All they NEED to do is put the right color contacts in her eyes and dye her fully the right color of astrids hair. I don't know why these actresses accept the role in being a character that's not their skin color...

I agree to a degree. I think race swaps aren't always bad if the person playing the character really fits the role otherwise. Take Zendaya for example. I love her as MJ and as Spiderman is set in modern America her being black isn't unbelievable. Or the new little mermaid. They kinda implied the daughters of the sea king were from all over the world and Ariel was like the Caribbean daughter. Plus she did an amazing job. But when a historical figure like Anne Bolin is well known for being white and you make her black it's just silly. I think if the motivation is to really get the best person for the job instead of like a forced inclusiveness then it can be okay if there's no real reason why the character shouldn't be a different race. But I am kinda iffy about making Astrid black just because she's supposed to be a viking and they just weren't black people but at the end of the day I can overlook it if she does a really good job as Astrid. Feels like the ONLY reason this is being made into live action is to pander. Otherwise, there is no reason to make it at all. The animated versions are perfect as they are.
