If the bottom mount ridge is placed on the Outside of the sill rail, whats to keep that from sliding out if pushed on the bottom of the unit.. I know the bar keeps it from falling outward but the bottom would have no such protection.

This was the original video I watched few years ago on how to install AC unit the simple way I installed couple ac units using this man's technic, I'm assuming this man has passed away now God bless him & many thanks to him for sharing his diy technic installing an AC unit in sliding windows🙏🙏

I will second what others have said here ... after watching probably a dozen videos on how to do this, having to build all sorts of clunky contraptions, your method here is the best, most clean and simple solution for this. Easy to follow. Thank you! I am not handy at all, but am on my own installing a window unit in a sliding window. Your instructions and set up are simple. Too many videos about installation involve too many unnecessary steps and additional accessories (bought or homemade).

I just wanted to add that if your worried about security to put a window brake which screws on the sill to stop anyone from trying to slide the other window on the opposite side! If you have a home security unit you can also move the one alarm adaptor that attaches to the window frame to be on the plexiglass! That way if someone pushes the glass in the alarm will sound! Anyone who owns an alarm system would know what I’m referring to & a little heat resistant glue holds them back on if removed from the window panel! That way your home can be safer all around! As well cool!

Any thief could enter that window with no problem. That would be a concern.

Does HD or Lowes do custom plexiglass cuts? I did a quick Google search and most people say no. What is the purpose of the metal bar that you’re putting in? And it doesn’t look like you’re screwing anything in place?
