All You Need to Know About AutoCAD Unit Changes
Hello I can’t find the blend icon under fillet is this normal?
Can you save as a STL file?
I believe you can. This link is for AutoCAD 2022 but should still apply. help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-E40AB085-5A19-4E3E-A74C-82F62DCD0DDB Hope this helps!
unable to draw the line of 7.500. no matter how many times i enter 7.500, it shoes where i pressed enter at and its not showing 7.500 when i measure it
Hmmm this is most likely an issue with the settings you have. Try going to your units and set it up in architectural units and see if that helps. It may be because it's in metric or decimal.
Please kindly help More explanation in metrics also
We'll keep that in mind for future videos, thanks!
Hi i just downloaded AutoCad 2025 and my ribbon is on the left side of the screen(vertically). How can I make my ribbon horizontal like yours?
For sure! Find a blank space on the ribbons and right click. You'll see an option that says "undock". Click that and then the entire toolbar will become a floating box, much like when you are using commands. Simply drag this to the top and release. It should snap right in place!
Exactly what I needed! I be watching and learning from this video for the next couple of weeks, thanks!
You're welcome! I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Perfect, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is there an easy way to make a 6-1 inch hole pattern on a 3 inch circle radius scaled out to 4 inch radius without the 1 inch holes being scaled too?
It is possible, but its an intensive process and quite difficult and honestly I'd need to look into it more. The issue is you need the 6 holes in the same location and you want them to move with the scaling while retaining their positions. When you scale it will scale ALL selected items. The easiest way to do this is to re-draw the item from scratch. I'll see about making some content on this!
Hi, 2025 has a hyperlink command. Do you know how to make pdf that has hyperlinks? Bluebeam for example in the sheet index page, when you click on a sheet number, it will take you to that sheet and any callouts will take you to the specific detail from same sheet or different sheet.
I've personally never used the feature, but I'll look into it and get back to you!
The instruction was much too fast for a true beginner. You omitted basic instructions (tab vs enter) after inputting values. Mirror instruction also didn't seem to work for me despite watching and rewatching many times.
This tutorial is for beginners to floor plans who would have a basic understanding of the program. We have other videos that cover the information you require!
Full support bro❤
the resources aren't available for download? pls help

Hi, sorry about the late reply. It seems our message didn't post last time! You can find them here www.verweydraftinginc.com/dwgresources
How about if you've drawn a line, it should be straight but accidentaly dropped it at an angle. Can you edit that line to be straight again, while remaining the same size?
Yes, you can. You can grab the end and pull it up, however it would probably be quicker to delete the line, start the line where you want it, type in the distance you want it to be, press tab to switch to degrees, and make is 0 (depending on your settings and should your snap settings not allow for that)
thank you very useful video
What command is entered that make the rectangle part to be adjustable
Rectangles should be automatically adjustable if you select the rectangle. It can then be dragged in any direction from the corners, or just the selected side!
I’m 53 and a beginner. Trying to learn on my own but you’re doing things I apparently don’t know how to do. I’m so frustrated. Please understand we only have laptops and no one has said how to move the drawing around as easy as you are. Super frustrating
Thanks for the comment! You can pan around the program by holding the middle mouse button and dragging your courser to move around the program. I'll get a video queued for the next week or two that goes over the basic movement commands of the program to help you out a bit. Hope this helps! David
I used AutoCAD version 2003 back in college, which was about 10 years ago. I haven’t practiced much since then, but recently, I had to draw an oil field location for my job using AutoCAD. The modern version, 2025, is quite different from what I was used to, but this video has been incredibly helpful in refreshing my skills. I'm really grateful and thankful to you. Your way of explaining things is simple, and your accent is lovely and easy to understand. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
Thanks, glad it was helpful to you!
THANKS SO MUCH,
You're welcome!
How to attach/insert Image Drawing to AutoCAD 2025?
You can X-Ref, we have a video on that topic!
I got a question. It’s been quite a long while since I have used AutoCAD. Like 6+ years. But which version would I need to purchase, in order to draw and detail 2D drawings with already existing blocks of structural steel materials and sizes? I’m quite familiar with the basic functions of the software already. But I’m currently enrolled in college and at least get the educational version. I’ve paid out of pocket before just to mess around with it. But now I want to purchase what I remember how to operate. And, actually the first couch you drew. Was a Loveseat. 😂 And So the Z axis would be 3D drawing??
Would depend on what you'd be comfortable with. All versions contain the basics needed in order to design what you described. You can import existing blocks and start using them almost right away in all (recent) versions. There's nothing wrong with going with AutoCAD 2024 or lower if you can get the software cheaper. Again, basic functionality stays the same. The Z Axis is mostly used for 3D drawing yes. If you're just doing 2D design, you'll almost never touch the Z axis.
i dont get the architectural option in units and ive got autocad 2025
I've tried to replicate this, however it doesn't seem like I can... Make sure you go to "units" and see if the selection comes up. What are the other options you get in the dropdown?
❤❤
what are your units registered as here? I am supposed to be using architectural units of measure but it ends up with totally different results when I want a 5 inch square for example
Units we are using in this video are the defaults, so the type is "Decimal" in inches. If you're using a different unit type it will vary!
Can you make videos on sloped roof plan 3D with different heights
Thanks for the suggestion! We'll look at putting one together. Stay tuned!
i still use autocad 2018 because my minimum spec of computer
That's quite alright, most of the commands and everything should work correctly regardless of version, however there will be changes or commands you wont be able to use, but the principles stay the same!
This is great
Thanks! Glad you think so!
This keeps reminding me that the Imperial system is such a farce
It is... different for sure!
Great video! I've got a question - Under "Setting Units and Modifying", the centre point of my object is not showing for me to snap when using any modifying function,, why is that and how can I fix it? Anyone please.
Check your snap settings in the bottom lefthand corner of the screen, find a combination that works and you'll be good!
❤
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽

After creating my blocks, how am I able to move them diagonally, it appears as if I haven't enabled a certain function as they are only moving horizontally and vertically? Thank you.
Hi Nicholas, I'll actively search for a solution on my free time. I've tried replicating your issue for a while now and I can't seem to recreate it. If you have OSNAP on then turn it off when you're inserting blocks (can be toggled by pressing F3) Once I have a solution I'll respond here, or maybe even post a video about it if its complex enough. Hope this helps!
I dont get the architectural option in the units
You should be able to type into the command bar "UNITS", select "Architectural" from the first drop down menu. If this doesn't fix it, What version of AutoCAD are you using? (Year and type, etc. 2025, AutoCAD LT)
Thanks, explained well and helpful
Glad you enjoyed :)
I had a question, say I draw a square surface joining 4 lines which lies on the ZX plane i.e vertically. How do I fill in the square surface with a certain color? Using hatch I'm only able to solid fill regions on the UCS plane. I'm pretty new to this, hope u'd help out brother.
So it depends if you're doing 3D or 2D. What can be used in 3D is you can apply a material to the 3D surface, while making sure the visual style you're using in AutoCAD allows "Materials and Textures" to be displayed. For a 2D object, hatching a solid colour is the way to do what you described. One thing you can try is to type in "UCS" into the command bar and go into the plane that you want to fill in (example, instead of doing a "top" view you want "right" view) press enter once you type UCS and then you'll see a bar show up, press the down arrow key on your keyboard and a few options will show up. Use the arrow key to highlight "view" and then press enter. This will change the coordinate system so that it matches up with your work plane. When you do this you should be able to hatch. To switch back simply do the above, except instead of selecting "view" select "global" and press enter. This will bring you back to the normal grid positioning. Hope this helps!
@@VerweyDraftingInc thanks a lot brother. All of these worked out. I used both the materials method and UCS. Thanks again & good luck man!!!
Anytime, glad I could help!
Thanks for this video! I got no experience in CAD, but I was referred by a family member to a architecture place they work at. They are willing to train anyone for CAD, but I downloaded the free trial and recreated this so I can get some sort of feel on how this works. This isn't as scary or difficult as I thought it would be
Glad this helped! I will say, this is an extremely simplified floor plan just so you can get a feel for floor plan workflow. If you're going to be doing architecture, I'd recommend taking a look at AutoCAD Architecture. It's AutoCAD but has tools specific to architecture, and everything we did in this video can be done in under a minute as blocks, floors, walls, and even hatching is completed for you to some extent. We'll be posting more advanced work later on when we have the time!
I also downloaded yesterday and got to learn a lot from his video. thank you
@@MEGASTHENESINDIABIHAR-m3d Glad to help!
It's humbling to come back into CAD years later and not understand the basics anymore. Thank you for this course, it really helped! Question--I'm running into problems with my move function, (it's selecting objects but not allowing me to move them), is there a way to fix that? My layer is unlocked, but I'm unsure what else I can check.
Scratch that, your video answered my question (after some more investigation and replays)!
This is a great tutorial. But this is not for real beginners. Even before we head and understood one simple concept, you would have jumped to another topic.
The main purpose of this tutorial is to get as much information across as we can in under 10 minutes for people who have never used the program before. It is impossible to get a complete understanding of something in 10 minutes! This gives an overview of the functions you can expect to use in AutoCAD 3D. This wasn't meant to be a comprehensive tutorial on every line item, as that would take many hours! If more in depth and specific help is required, please check out our channel for more specific videos! Conversely, if we do not have a video on a topic you would like to see covered, please reach out and let us know what you'd like and we can add it to our queue!
looking forward to 2025
Absolutely!
Here's the questions from the webinar, feel free to respond! 1. How did you find out about this webinar? 2. Where are you in your journey? (e.g. Student studying civil engineering, year 3) 3. Do you plan on learning AutoCAD professionally?
This video is unlisted and goes public in 1 week from today. The form can be filled out here: form.jotform.com/241573892475064 If the form is up, spots are available!
how do you open the ribbon with all the tools? mine is not "open" also why cant I use feet and inches when creating a square of shape
To get the ribbon to show up type "RIBBON" in the command bar to turn on the ribbon. If you want to see all the tools its possible the ribbons are in a minimized state. To fix this find the ribbons (such as "home", "solid", "surface", etc) and go all the way to the end of these words. At the end you'll see a solid square (should be white if you're in dark mode) with a triangle/arrow pointing up/down and a dropdown menu right beside it. Click the arrow in the solid coloured box and it should change how your ribbons appear. Let me know if this helps!
Im not an Architect or Engineer I just find this fun and I want to learn it.
Glad to hear, and hope our tutorials help!
my acad2025 menus look different from yours... autodesk is always messing up the menus ...
