When the front suspension move, it is not just move upward but also a bit backward. Have you measure the distance between the front axle and the power steering pump pulley? I'm thinking to install the pump on my series 3 on the same location as yours.

With the P38a power steering box you could have used an electric pump from a merc A class. Easy to fit and saves all the hassle of the engine driven pump

Hello, firstly complements on a very smart vehicle sir, secondly I just found this video in my search for info on power steering for my own series 2a, I`m curious as to how the series steering wheel fitted the p38 column, are the splines the same or was there some modification needed. @@agronutsinc la base para la bomba de power steering fue custom, utilizamos dos huecos que traé de fábrica el motor para atornillar la base. El double pulley, lo compré hace varios años en John Craddock, ese pulley entiendo que lo traen land rovers militares.

Very nicely engineered solution. Can I ask did you determine the P38 steering box position so the vertical main shaft was in the best position? Thanks!
We try to make the steering box the more vertical and align that we can and it works fine! (at least they advice that in the website below with the scout steering box) The only problem that we got was the long of the steering shaft ,it was to long for the space between the steering box and the steering column , so we have to cut a little bit the steering shaft to make it fit, so be sure to take measurements twice before making any welding . I found this video myself the other day and subscribed to your channel.That is a beautiful & well kept land rover you have sir,Excellent conversion to power steering.I am very interested in what you mention to the other person about using a mk3 vw jetta pulley ,Which has far as i know would be also known has the vw vento in Europe.Would you be kind enough if and when you have some spare time to get the nine digit part number off the front of the pulley or make a short video with the engine switch off concentrating on the power steering pump pulley and bracket.Thank you for sharing your video .All the best Brian from Dublin Ireland .

ushuaia ice The pulley is a VW MK3 HZS part number 037145255. I noticed that we make 3 new holes to fit in to the P38 steering pump. If you want to , i can send you a picture of it, send me your email.

Hi i found one of those pulleys online with the part number you provided .The picture of the pulley in question shows it has 7 drilled holes including the center hole already on it.Can you tell me how many holes are on the pulley fitted to your pump ? Thanks
Yes indeed very nice work.This is i think the only video i have seen so far that a owner has put power steering using the original engine,Be it a 2.25l petrol or the 2.25l diesel, A lot of the material on the net about power steering conversions onto series land rovers focus on people who have changed the engines on there vehicles for example..V8 ,200TDI & 3000TDI engine conversions . Hi great job on your Power Steering conversion.I am attempting to do something similar on my 1975 series 3 with a 2.25l Diesel engine fitted.I will be using the P38 box and the P38 lower steering column ,but changing the upper column for a Defender TD5 column.Can i ask you did you change the pulley on the power steering pump? Because the pump you have as the smaller V- grove pulley on it ,Not the normal ribbed belt type you would get on a P38 pump.Also did you have to make up a special bracket for mounting the pump to the engine. Thank you
Hi!, thanks! Yes i change the power steering pump pulley it was from a Jetta MK3! Yes i fabricate the bracket using one from a bracket from a toyota and modified to fit it in

bel lavoro, sto facendo anche io sulla mia serie III...però metto la pompa in alto, sopra alternatore e uso la medesima cinghia, questo perchè non mi piace li in basso, potrebbero entrare dei rami e rompere qualcosa...grazie x il video

Lista de cosas que utilize!::: -Caja de Guía P38 -doble damper de Land Rover militar. -bomba de power steering P38 - Mangas P38 (solo utilizé los terminales, porque las mangas son custom). -Columna de Guía de P38 ( solo utilizé la parte de abajo de la caja de guía) Lo demas es custom: -Base para Caja de guía. -Adaptar la columna de caja de guía original a la parte de abajo de la caja de guía de P38. -Base para la bomba ( se utilizó una base de.toyota para la fabricación). -Base para la parte de abajo de caja de guía. -Bàsicamente todo el sistema es de una Range Rover P38. - -
