Also!! One of my supervisors was grandfathered in and had her LISW by default! Did not have to take a test.

I love this conversation is taking place. I’m a LMSW.. I failed once and passed the second time. I have completed my supervision and 4000 hours of direct practice. I took the exam 6 times for my LISW. I’ve bought multiple study guides, participated in Dawns study group amongst other resources. I am very discouraged and at times feel less than my white counterparts. I utilize different language with the population I serve. Then I have to put myself in a different mindset when it comes to taking this test. I wholeheartedly believe this standardized test does not measure the validity of my competence. I have missed out on higher pay which is why I have spent so much money attempting to pass this test. Last time I took the test I missed it by 3! So disappointing and disheartening. I have even considered leaving the field.

Treatment they need to want the help and keep accountability partners safety protocol ex not being able to left with child alone period hand shake or certain word its ok to not go with people go with instincts teach kids its ok to not want to go with certain people or hug even aunts uncles if don't feel like hugging they don't have to its there bodies. Keep others safe think safety planning very open communication with kids and explaining to kids any touch not wanted is ok to tell them no and you can always come to me I will never get mad or will always believe you.

I appreciate the emphasis that social workers need to look beyond humans because the environment does not care if there is social justice among humans, if there is no justice for the environment we will not have a place to live.

Barriers to social work advocacy: lack of competence in the subject matter- because policy is not Law Our social work training does not prepare in being able to distinguish between the two, thus, failing to train us sufficiently to be exercising any authority, which we do not have, to speak on behalf of another. We feel incompetent in the macro/political arena, because we are; and the nation, and administrative actors for it, confirm that for us.
