Ender 3 Series Printer (Standard, Pro, V2) Upgrades to Improve Quality and Ease Use
Просмотров 57 тыс.2 года назад
There are many upgrades out there and these are a few of the many that I have tried and tested! ❗️All upgrades were purchased with my own money 💵 and there are no sponsors for any products recommended or mentioned in this video. In my honest opinion, the upgrades below have improved my prints and made my printing life easier both in operation and post processing. Links below are the products me...

How To Improve 3D Printed Overhangs (Tips and Tricks)
What are your overhang speeds?
I haven’t used this printer in a while! I have to check, it’s been so long since I’ve adjusted anything on this printer.
nice work! unfortunately with the cost of living and shipping at a halt in Australia this would cost over $1000.00 to make. I just finished a simple mdf version and that cost just on $100.00 😢 the extraction fan is what's going to be a killer if I buy one and not make one. $100.00+! I'm thinking a 3d printed fan blade on a simple PWM speed controller might have to do.
Yeah 1000 is way too much to do an enclosure. it’s great you found an alternate solution. I traded out some work for the fan so it wasn’t at a huge cost to me. I think a 3D printed fan on a PWN controller would also be a great solution.
Take a drink every time he says "uh" or "um" You'll be dead by the end of the video.
Any chance you can link to the extruder knob STL you use in this video?
i found that with my ender 3 pro i can increase the overhang angle to 70 degrees by actually speeding up the printing speeds in the settings by 25%
Clean as he🏒🏒 ! Hope life got better so you can get that video out, i think you'd really get some hits on this insane build 👍🍻
I only need to relevel if I switch out nozzles on my ender 3 version1, but most of the time its still close to spot on because I set it up so the heatbrake butts up tight up against the nozzle and the shoulders of the nozzle rest on the bottom of the heater block so with the same nozzle the hight never changes, but i do check with a strip of paper by 'selecting level corners every once in a while but maybe I'm lucky but my early Ender3 seems to hold zero... but I dont have the stock mainboard I have the MKS with 2130's so maybe the reduction in vibration may have something to do with it...
Sorry if I sound mean but dude fix you z wobble, other than that I loved the video. Keep up the good work
Super fucking annoying gimmicks and shitty audio. Totally overshadowed the content.
Next time you buy one of these ender printers make sure the first bracket that is installed the shorter one with front facing you check to see in it was threaded one I bought it was not lucky I had a kit to do this may have been built during covid lock down in china
Sick! need a how to video for everything in this video!
can u explain the auto leveling software please how it works and maybe a reviewed on it
Just did this mod but white light only...no need for rainbow lighting
Yeah the rainbow lights are not needed. It was on sale, 2 dollars cheaper than the white so I went a little more flashy 🤙🏼 Thanks for watching!
i used to be able to print 65 degree over hang but after haveing to changeing hot end now can only print 30 degree can't fix the problem can't finf videos on it and can't get no help on it so if enyone sees this please contact me
No 3 and 5 are not really testing overhang. You just changed the 75 degrees to much less angle. Combos of settings would have been interesting.
Your right. I did want to follow up with settings but there were so many variables in combo with the angles so I decided against it for now. I may follow up with it in the future, thanks for the feedback!! Thanks for watching!!! 🤙🏼
my glass bed on neo is a so nasty slippery, i’ve cleaned it as best i can and still can’t print at all unless i use glue stick.
Glue stick is not all bad, requires a little in post processing but some bed just need it. You could try switching the plate for something aftermarket. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!!
where did you get the inline valve for the ventilation?
I think you’re referring to the orange gate attachment. If so it’s a 4 inch dust collection blast gate for woodworking that I found on Amazon. It’s from a company called PowerTec. If you are referring to something else let me know. Thanks for watching!!
why is everybody using external power supply?? there already is light inside cant u grab the power from it?
There is a light source and you’re right, I could grab power from it. At the time though this was a new printer and this was the least invasive and easiest way to get the light in there. That way I could be back up and printing ASAP. Either way I appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching!! 🤙🏼
This is an incredible workspace. Well done.
Thank you so much!! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
You have a blue print?
Unfortunately no but a build video is in editing right now so that should help if you’re interested. I might do one in the future but there are many projects in the works right now. Thanks for watching!! 🤙🏼
I am new to 3d printing and am trying to calibrate overhangs as it has been messing a few of my prints up. I am confused, while I know that adjusting the orientation CAN fix the issue, why would you adjust the angle for this particular test itself which basically negates the whole point of having the 45+ degrees?
It’s just demonstrating how looking at parts in different orientations can help solve overhang issues. A lot of new people in 3D printing tend to not look at parts from alternate angles to help solve overhang issues. I know this because I was one of them. Bottom line, is it’s just a demonstration.
Did you ever release a full video of this build? Cant find it on your channel sadly
Yeah, life got in the way. I have to finish up some editing on it and I’ll try to get it out next week.
PLEASE STOP WITH ALL THE SOUND EFFECTS AND POP UPS
Thanks for the feedback, will do. Not sure what I was thinking during editing but I appreciate the input, thanks for watching!!
The Ender 3 V2 is garbage and a waste of time
It was a great printer for many before some of the newer machines, this was a while ago though. As with any technology, especially fast evolving tech like additive manufacturing, things become “garbage” rather quickly. I agree there are better options, most you have to pay to play but either way I appreciate your opinion and thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
Just Use adaptive layers. Solves almost all problems (and adds just a few new ones ;) )
You are correct. Although, adaptive layers wasn’t an option for most until 2023 for Cura users and as you said comes with its own problems. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the enclosure?
I built it myself. It’s in my basement so it has ventilation too. I have another short showcasing it.
Been waiting over 2 years for a build
Love it! Where did you purchase the plexy windows?
I got the sheets from J Tech Phototonics. It’s laser safety glass. Tried to send a link but the site is down for some reason. Thanks for watching.
@@NerdvanaCustomCreations thanks for the info! I'll check it out
You made your own light housing but couldn’t make it to where both circles meet so instead you cut the wire 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ work smarter not harder
Would have taken longer to edit the STL then it did to splice the wires. Either way thanks for watching.
It should have been a super easy fix
Wouldn’t this mess up the LiDAR?
I haven’t had any problems but I know that it has been reported from others to disrupt it. Either way you could just turn the lights on when needed if it was to interfere. Thanks for watching!
If you go check there is a videa about a light kit tht turnes off durring lidar turns green once print done and red if the printer detects a problem it was acually cool and i look foward to installing it.
How???
Added some lights to a printed glass top riser. I have a build short too. Thanks for watching!
I am finally replacing the extruder on my pros, the arm never broke but the base did. one printer had the brass insert the bowden tube attaches to explode out of the front of the printer mid print. The second printer wore the teeth off the hob gear heh. They lasted a year and a half of heavy use, so they were due to die lol. I am replacing them with some ezr struders I found on clearance.
I’ve worn the teeth on a few gears myself 😄 I’ve had a few base break as well but when my arm first broke it took forever for me to figure out because it was well hidden. Sounds like you’ve got a handle on things and thanks for watching!
@@NerdvanaCustomCreations not a problem sir, thank you for the great content, I am installing my clearance priced old school ezr struder as I type this, time to calibrate esteps lol
I don’t know if Elegoo changed their design, but when I setup my magnetic plate I didn’t know anything about the spacer but the print bed appeared to be spring loaded so during calibration it simply adjusted to the new thickness (with the magnetic plate) without any issue.
It’s definitely possible that they changed the design, glad it was able to adjust with no trouble. Thanks for watching!
Nice video thank you
Thanks for watching!!
It sounds linke you are standing in a hair dryer
Yeah, this was before I had a mic so it’s picking up my basement A/C. Thanks for watching though!
What type of filament did you print this with?
I used PETG, Duramic Black PETG off Amazon. 👉🏼 DURAMIC 3D PETG Filament 1.75mm Black, 3D Printing Filament 1kg Spool(2.2lbs), Black Filament 1.75mm Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05 mm Non-Tangling Non-Clogging Non-Stringing a.co/d/6BrZpt7
Ive owned my v2 for 48 hours and ive said everything you said at the beginning 😂😂😂
Yep! It’s a love hate relationship 😂😂
Holy crap! What did you do to get that smooth bottom?
I had it pretty dialed in for these test, just the right amount of squish 🤙🏼
I've been watching a lot of 3D printing videos and this is big far the crappiest video I've watched.
Safe to say these are aluminum extrusion profiles with the necessary parts to attach them together. I like this over a wooden on for my D1 Pro. Gives the option to add extension bed/frame w/o needing to use all new wood framing.
Yep aluminum extrusions. My thoughts exactly, I have the extension kit working on expanding the frame soon. Thanks for watching!
What do people think of the Sprite Pro for the V2?
You know, I haven’t thought much about it till your comment. I looked at it and it’s specs and build look good but maybe overkill for a V2. I’ve done well with my extruder but would probably think about it in a different printer. That being said, if I had just one printer and could afford it (good or bad) I would go for it but is definitely overkill for a V2 IMHO. Thanks for watching!
@@NerdvanaCustomCreations overkill, that’s what I like to hear SOLD! 😂 I have a RTX4090 to play Rise of Kingdoms, overkill is my middle name
@@NerdvanaCustomCreations I’ve going for a Z Axis upgrade, Sprite Pro and the stability bars but because they look cool, not functional 😂
how do you get all the xtra settings in the cura app
You have to put it in advanced mode to see all the settings.
Would love a parts list and source. Also construction instruction. Would Venmo a few bucks for the info. Thanks
I’m working on it, no ETA yet but trying to get it done. Thanks for watching!!
Instead of making a hole in which the cable requires modifications to fit through, would it not be easier for user accessibility and ease of installation to replace the hole with a notch and a removable insert to close the gab around the wire? Cut free.
Sure would but it was a quick print and I didn’t want to edit the STL. I could have easily edited it but cutting the wire was also easy, just the choice I made 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching!
Cheers brutha, this was pretty helpful in terms of direction I needed for upgrades.
Awesome!! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!!
Could you make a full video on how you made this
I’m working on it currently! Thanks for watching!!
misumi extrusion 2020 frame with lots of corner brackets 😅
Seems like they need to make a printer that rotates the bed and extruder to accommodate overhangs and bridges and all of that. Kind of surprised this doesn't seem to exist
I think I saw something like this but not for the average consumer. It was a production/commercial style printer. I think the future of 3D printing is going to be amazing! Thanks for watching!!
That's some good stuff
Thank you! Thanks for watching!!
My first video watching you. Just a friendly tip, I watched you talking to yourself! Look at me (the camera iris). That way you are looking at us and so speaking to us.
Oh man, didn’t see this message for some reason I didn’t get a notification. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!!
Do NOT hit the glass Plate with alcohol... I guess that's the whole reason why everyone says they're crap. You'll destroy the coating. Just use hot water and maybe a little soap to clean. Works fantastic for me, no adhesion problems whatsoever, and once the plate is cooled to room temp, prints basically pop off by themselves.
I have been using alcohol on all my Enders, some are still using the glass plates they came with and are still going strong. You have a solid point though, thanks for the feedback and tip. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you!!! I'll be back after I unpack my Prusa time-capsule: shame on me. I ordered it from Prusa at least 5 years ago and its still wrapped up in two shipping boxes. Should I buy a newer version? I think the one I have is an MK2S, or something like that.
If it’s your first printer, I think you will be fine with it for now! Get your bearings and go from there. Enjoy the hobby and thanks for watching!
