Why LOTRO is still AMAZING in 2024!
LOTRO has been around for a long time now - so what makes this game so good still in 2024?

I am unable to actually play the game, it stops downloading the dat file in the lotro launcher even though I have downloaded all the correct pre requisites and have no anitivirus or vpn active
game is acschually ass
This is the only mmo ive seen where you can walk into a forest and NOT just see mobs everywhere like u have to actually search for the spiders in that one forest and that makes exploration in the game feel like a thing, u do not get that when theirs enemy's everywhere
still the only good MMO
I still have my Shadows of Angmar box set sitting on my bookshelf beside me as I type this. I bought a Lifetime VIP membership back then and I still think it is perhaps the absolute best $200 I have ever spent.
Truly an amazing game.
If i just didnt get stck in sleeping bag... 😢
I appreciate the studio's efforts to retranscribe Tolkien's universe, but the avatar model and animations really need to be improved. I understand the nostalgia of older players, but everything is so stiff nowadays and the graphics are really outdated.
I’ve been playing less often since the Gundapad expansion, but it feels like a home I can always return too, and I’m so glad they keep adding. I do hope they get a big graphics and lag upgrade at some point, but I still think the environment and atmosphere go far beyond even most modern games. Plus there’s all the lore, and as so say, the sheer size. Plus all the content that has built up. If they were able to upgrade the UI and character models especially, and the lag, and put in some advertising, it would be rediscovered and be a game of the year all over again.
worst game Ever.
I´m installing the game rn, new player jaja, totally gotta give this a try! :D
and? you like it?
@@Onb3k3nd3 not so much -_- i´m from Argentina and my english its pretty good but still rest point that the game its not translated, and the gameplay its too slow for me. I just dont have the patience to give it my time :/ Maybe in some future i'll give it another chance..
@@emanuelestigarribia1081 sounds fair, thanks for letting me know xD
This is the only game I have permanently installed ony my pc since 2007. I never know when the indescribable urge comes on me to play it again. Its wonderful, like coming home. :)
So jealous lol.
I've read some of the reviews on Steam, a few complained that the free version is highly restricted. Then I checked the game's web page to see the prices and boy o boy they ain't fucking around. I'll skip this game lol
The UI needs to be modernized.
UI Work is happening but there is no ETA on when UI Updates will start rolling out as of Sept 22nd, 2024.
Your video made me download LOTRO again and give it one more chance.
yea just fix the lag issues and its golden
I loved to play Lotro around 2012, especially the Orc PVP. But lag and rubber banding just threw me off. Later in 2022 I returned (10 years later), thinking things would be better, but no, the lag and rubberbanding was even worse and now affected the PVE human area. Is it cozy? Sure. Is it problematic to play? yes
This is the one of the only old MMORPG (Tibia too) that I still love even more nowadays.
Excellent video, well worth making and watching. Thank you! 😊
I was a founder when it first launched. The best £90 (I think it was) I've ever spent.
I really wish they'd update the graphics. Otherwise perfect game
Visuals Updates are happening. Newer Content is always using the "Latest Visuals". There likely won't ever be a major update for Visuals for the entire game, they are doing what they can but it's a slow process.
I thought they shut the servers down?
Nope, Servers have never been shut down. Only thing was Codemasters back in 2011 stopped their side of things, Turbine stopped being the developer in 2016 & Standing Stone Games took over in 2016.
Great mmorpg in dire need up a major engine update
Engine "goes" get updates however there likely will never be a "Major Update" to LOTRO's engine. They have what they have and are trying their best to improve it which is a slow process.
please try gw2 :)
U mad , this game sucks 😂😂
VIP founder, and I honestly still like it a lot. I don't care about raids (only ever done the Rift and hated it with a fiery passion), I don't care about PvMP, and I very rarely group. It's a casual game I can hop in for 30 mins and accomplish something, and it's a game where I can craft my armour, my weapons, everything I need, without ever feeling "gimped".
but why they dont fix the game? its not like they will have mil players playing lotr mmo...duuuuh...
They are always working to update LOTRO but there is a lot to do and various Projects are taking a long time to work on.
Stop promoting dead games, the company should develop it instead of asking money for shitty game.
They've never not been developing & updating LOTRO however there is a huge amount of things to do such as the User Interface, Visual Updates, Quality of Life, and so on.
Imagine some1 making the same type of quest text AI voice addon that some1 made for WoW, it did wonders for WoW, which doesnt even have that interesting lore, compared to middle-earth, that is! I love the quests in LOTRO but my brainrotted ADHD brain cant bear reading every single one 😅
LOTRO character and mount animations are horrible, it's the number one thing I hate about it. I wish they'd fix it. Outside of that, it is a great game <3
I am a simple man. I hear Tom Bombadil's Theme, I click like.
The game does not even work in a modern windows machine
ive win11 and no problems at all..
After browsing MMOs to play especially upcoming MMOs I cannot get behind any of them - Maybe it's the graphics but this video showed me that LOTRO is the only MMO I'd be willing to play outside of WOW Classic and OSRS. I just can't handle the graphics, artwork of say GW2, Final Fantasy or any of those Anime MMOs. Lord of the Rings Online has so much damn potential I wish it was overhauled I would pay whatever the price as long as Amazon doesn't develop/publish it.
They desperately need some graphical updates. I don't think it needs to be extreme, but it needs some love.
Visual Updates for Older Content are happening but slowly. All "Newer Content" uses the Latest Visuals that LOTRO offers.
OSRS also focuses on content for early to mid game a lot of the time. I think more MMORPGs should do this.
Has this game been improved yet? Or still like old school like it has been for the past 10 years or whenever it eas released
LOTRO is always getting updated however various aspects are akin to when they were added or not long after they were. LOTRO here in September 2024 is nowhere akin to what it was say in September 2014 when looking at the whole game.
Who's planning on doing angmar and mordor legendary servers by end of July early August?
I once had a colleague who played in a lotro band. Are those still around?
Did you apply shaders in this one or just the default HD update of LOTRO graphics?
Very cool video, thanks! I would love to love LOTRO but whenever I decide to give it yet another go... I just can't. Your video will be my another try. :)
Hello. Thinking of coming back and making this my main game. One problem. I need some friends
The numerous amount of ads interrupted the video too many times. Dammit YT is getting bad. Would've been a GREAT video
I played from 09-18 and spent so much money on content, took a break and the server was deleted so for years I was salty, came back about 2 weeks ago and I’m hooked again, the players that are still there are so friendly and helpful, still massive concerts on the weekends, the game looks crisp and fluid, just wish I had more money lol
If a.i can help transfer this game into a more resilient engine. The game will live on for decades more
Man this video exploded - can I get a "For Frodo!" from all the LOTRO fans?
its time to remake lotro on better graphics engine, like ARK did
New Graphics Engine is highly unlikely. Something to keep in mind is many Reviewers generally only show off "Early LOTRO" which visually is "Older". Newer Content is always using the "Latest Visuals" that LOTRO offers.
As somebody who has never done "endgame" anything in any MMO and just enjoys questing and levelling, I definitely appreciate that LOTRO has so much low-level content. The usual way older MMOs try to make more content accessible is through level-scaling (ESO being an extreme example), but that just destroys the sense of pacing and escalation.
Why don’t they make a more polished version its 2024 now
I won't touch this game again until it gets servers based in Europe. The lag/ping is unbearable.
There is a eu server coming in a few weeks!
Definitely still playing this game. It’s a little difficult to play if your a “min maxer” and trying to get your virtue traits all maxed out by doing the endless “deeds” within the game? But if your ok with sub par stats and enjoy exploring and seeing a vast expansive world that makes you feel like a small adventurer in a grand world? Then it’s such a wonderful game. 🫶
