The salmon didn't break the rod. You did.
Why did it break was the drag not working
That rod is for Nymphing not for Salmon. Try not to raise the rod tip too much.

In Nashville if you have a video of the fish breaking your rod they would just replace it they can’t fix it guess how I know When I first started my plan was to make videos Trout fishing and for some reason I caught two big Bass and they broke the rod I have nothing but respect awesome dudes at Orvis my favorite fly fishing store even though they are expensive but love the customer service

The Kokanee were in the 4-bit camp 9 a couple of weeks ago
Pulled too hard gotta let em run alot best bet when doing that is give slack a tiny bit and when it runs reel backwards to let line out youll keep tension and shouldn't run far. Was catching them on a 51$ fly rod so just gotta be careful them things will pull you away
