A very lively folk dance, puts a spring in my step. An interesting thing about American Dvorak to me is how he seems to suggest the more war like Native Americans very well in his From the New World Symphony, this is especially noticeable in the scherzo, it is like an attacking tribe like the Cherokee, absolutely striking imagery. I also really enjoy the deep viseral emotionality of the first movement of the op. 97 quintet.

Admittedly, Dvorak wrote "vivace" but he added "ma non troppo", and I think that the musicians in this video should have taken that addition into consideration.

ahhh, maria. i've played this quartet and it's nice to hear her play it. the whole group was superb!!!

Truly a wonderful piece with a great tempo...and they played as one.

Please Ekaterina, post the entire "American" quartet! You are all fabulous and it's quite hurting to listening to it partially. PS. I will never be able to understand the human species. Listening, for free, these four enormously gifted kids, playing such a ethereal composition, it's not only a privilege, but a real blessing. How moron could you be to give thumb down to this ?!

The Hamamelis is the genus for the Witch Hazel tree where the leaves "..... deep red hue echoes the color of the calyx cup that backs each flower's quartet of yellow streamer-like petals. A beautiful and fitting description.

Fantastic playing. Really, one of the best renditions on RUclips. And the acoustics is marvelous. I like how the performers "speak to each other" as they play. And the Viola plays the correct rhythm 4 measures before rehearsal number 8
