It appears that the bit was inserted until it bottomed out, you should pull it out a little bit so if the collet doesn't release the bit after loosening you can tap it in to the space created by pulling the bit out before tightening which will release the collet.
@@ellinganderson5434 thank you for the info. I’ll have to do a short all about the K mark next.
I will try it tomorrow with drywall board)
Wait inches and mm are both measures of distances 😱🤯 What the hell!!! I thought they were two different things?!?
@@azureth354 just don’t tell NASA
Yes but what if I want to do a 3 1 /2 inch line?
I'm really sorry I'm not old enough to understand Inches
Can't be done mate
Nice video, quick correction though - clean your soldering iron tip before use, not after. You want to reduce oxidation of the tip as much as possible.
That's exactly the tip I needed! Thank you. Could you recommend a soldering iron too?
Fun watching your progress, well explained, and good seeing very different application of construct
@@audrey3319 thank you
I often wonder why the external layer of ply? If you are going to fibreglass the outside do you really need the external layer?
It depends on the thickness of the fiberglass I guess. I'm only using the fiberglass to make a waterproof coating. But yes, if I used some bi-axial cloth, I probably get away without the plywood.
Definitely the best insulation I have ever seen on a teardrop. You appeared to put the outer skin on "dry" (no glue). What did I miss? You will regret only having one door, though.
Thank you. I'll have to make another one with all the recommendations.
Really enjoying how different your building trailer is, easier for single person to put together, and the steps well organised. glad youtube suggested your page. Liking the shape too
Thank you, that's very nice to hear. The next video is out on Sunday where we install all the insulation and the outer skin of Plywood.
@@OrkiesWorkshop looking good forward to it.
Your bad solering is so satisfying.
I just love this idea, might try and make a few myself, and your soledring skills arn't bad, they are as good as you are in making things, so not bad, just on par for your skills! Oh an P.S. There is a weird hiss when you record audio, maybe you could look into that?
Thank you
Why not spiral the strip bottom to top? Less wires, less work.
I'll have to make another, with all the great ideas. Thank you
Good sir, a thousand thanks. For the interesting project. But not for the peculiar cuts to profile mid shots. I shall try to watch the remainder of the piece later. If I can stomach it.
Not exactly a teardrop… shape, I mean kind of square ish. Are you or have you considered moving the axle back to get a better 60/40 weight distribution or are you thinking you will have more storage weight on the front to get the weight to a safe place.
Good point, maybe it should be called a squaredrop. The axle is fixed. We have to use commercial trailers as building bespoke is not allowed in the UK. We have got a great big aluminium storage box to go back on the front though. I’m thinking of getting it powder coated first, what would you recommend?
I guess the only reason to powder coat aluminum is for colour, so it depends on you paint you are using on the trailer itself. Powder coating it black means that box is going to absorb a lot of heat which may affect what you put in it… maybe.
I was a bit skeptical when I saw the dodgy soldering and v1 spiderweb circuit, but I have to admit I am quite impressed with the copper plate and overall design. Constructive feedback: The light needs a diffuser. Wax paper works pretty well for something most people have in their kitchen. Soldering doesn't need to be that hard, you didn't appear to be using flux and (I'm not an expert either) the iron seemed a bit cold perhaps. While the form factor for that wifi LED controller makes it a great choice for this project, I am a bit skeptical about random IoT devices with closed source apps. They could be doing quite a lot of unsavoury things on one's phone or network. ESPs with WLED are a good, safe alternative. Although not as plug and play. I can't believe how small this channel is, keep up the good work and you are sure to succeed here.
@@Jimmy___ I was going to say to download the app onto a burner phone, but I didn’t want my skeptical side to show. But definitely a good point. Thank you
I think you need some diffusion to really finish this project off. Maybe some wax paper or 3D print a thin cylinder out of white PLA to put around the LEDs.
@@OmairArif Thank you for the top tip. I’ll have to make another one.
@@OrkiesWorkshop thinking about it some more, if you do a V2 it might make more sense to wrap the LED strip in a spiral around the 3D printed core, instead of cutting it into vertical strips. Would save you a bunch of soldering.
I think the same thing. Maybe roughening the inside with sand paper would do the trick.
@@satyrkrieg these are all such great ideas! Thank you.
I second the idea of roughing up the glass with sandpaper. Perhaps both inside and outside?
Perfect video, pretty smart solution and doing this with leftovers from different projects makes it more amazing! You earned a sub man. And if you want to listen to another perspective, i think you should add some diffusion inside the jar. You can do it with 2-3 layers of white "stencil transfer paper" i think this brilliant idea deserves some soft look. Anyways, great video! Keep going.
@@yunusarkan. Thank you for the kind comments. Thank you for the cool idea, I’ll add your idea to the next light I make. Stay cool
you're heavily underrated, I thought you had half a million subs. The quality of videos and details you provide make the experience pretty enjoyable..
@@Kst_101 That’s incredibly kind, thank you. There was me thinking I’m strange and boring.
Erm what am i supposed to think about again?
Man, I love this idea. It seems like you can turn anything into something just with your skills!
@@VictorMovlian wow what a lovely thing to say. Thank you
What a brilliantly creative idea. Excellent vid.

What is the green material you used to make the templates?
Hey, The Green material is a formaldehyde free MDF, it's green because it's classified as moisture resistant. We use it for templates because it's fairly stable, easy to work with and cost effective. We make a lot of templates. What would you use?
I'd watch this every day even if it meant I'd go bald
Keep watching, it won't be long 🙂
This channel is awesome!
You sir are a legend among us
Another great video! Why MR MDF for templates? Does your workshop leak? Can you illuminate us on the two parallel channels putting out the same videos? PVA has a lot going for it, but it also has the downside of a relatively short open time. On some of the longer or more complex glue-ups, a slow PU, Cascamite, thickened epoxy, or even a fish or hide glue, gives you plenty of extra time to get things aligned properly. You must have been pretty confident that everything was going to fit first time to be using PVA. I'll say it again, your mystery customer (my working assumption is that this is your wife!) is going to regret asking for only one door. Climbing over your partner at night to go for a pee is going to get tiresome quickly.
@@MikeAG333 Hey, thanks for the comment. We use MDF because it is easy to shape, stable and relatively cheap. The green MDF is moisture resistant, and in the UK the RH can get to 70% in the winter. If the mystery customer is my wife she better explain where the money went!
Perhaps Its just me, I can't find the plans mentioned? Can you point me to where they are. Thanks
Hi Andy, I can send you a copy, ping me an email. orkiesworkshop@gmail.com
Two doors or you're nuts. Climbing over your partner in the middle of the night to go for a pee......sheesh.
I'd love to see a drawing.....
Hey Mike, thanks for watching. I can't help thinking that your roof box design was a market first. We are thinking of making the plans available with the final build. ruclips.net/channel/UCzSz93m2d8VDyyrPlgmLOzQcommunity?lb=UgkxqfPnF0LavIJO9Nq1OnGt8z4TvczqfDYB
@@OrkiesWorkshop It was. I was badly let down by a manufacturer in South Africa, which is just about the only major market in the world. Ho hum. I wouldn't want the detail plans so as to build the same design ( mine's better! :) ). I'd like to see the drawings so that I know what's what as you're working. I'm an architect. Architects like drawings....
@@MikeAG333 We have the same background. As soon as the plans are available, I'll send you a copy. Do you use computer models?
