ADS Talks: 2023 Dental Implant Continuum with Dr. Mark Hunt
One other thing I will add here is you could go with a flexible denture. Think they are called valplast. Feel free to correct me on the terminology. They straddle over the gum and don't have the normal large plate on the bottom that tends to affect speech and are uncomfortable. A more permanent bridge makes sense to me but be aware they are pretty fragile. I've had partial dentures as well and a lot of times they end up in your shirt pocket.
Please remove background music from the video. It adds noise and makes it very difficult to understand what you are saying.
Would it not be better to let in the root of the lost tooth in order to better carry bite pressure?
My experience is that the vast majority of dentists will not perform them because of the high failure rate. An implant is certainly a better option, assuming you have the bone structure for it. I unfortunately did not and was quoted nearly 10 grand to perform bone grafting, and implant from an oral surgeon. That price did not include the final abutment and crown. I asked the oral surgeon how long it would take and he quoted me two to three hours total. Pretty nice wage. Pretty sad we have this technology that is largely unaffordable for most people. A Maryland Bridge does remove less of the tooth than some other alternatives. In my case, I was looking to replace tooth number 25. This is a smaller lower front tooth, which means the adjacent teeth are also fairly small and brittle. Doing a traditional bridge would remove a big portion of the tooth, and you never get that back. This also weakens an already fragile tooth. The Maryland bridge removes less of the tooth structure, but there is also less bonding surface. With that said it makes sense there would be a higher-than-normal failure rate, but I would also say there's a greater chance you're not going to end up fracturing and breaking an adjacent tooth. A doctor can always re-cement the bridge back on. Just be aware if you get one of these, you're not gonna be biting into apples or chewing peanut brittle or something. They are fragile. I guess I can't say I blame the dentist for not recommending them. I had to be pretty persistent to finally get a dentist to agree, but I think they can be a good option. I do wish more dentists didn't have such a god complex. There is no absolute correct procedure that's right for everybody. Try to find yourself a dentist who doesn't have an ego as big as the planet and is willing to work with you. I had great luck while in Thailand. Not so much in the U.S. Blows my mind you can barely talk to a dentist these days without them wanting $400 just to look.
Thank you 🙏
This is very professional and got me interested in looking your company up. Sam answered all of my questions when she was speaking. She did a terrific job!! Awesome !

Less people are becoming dental techs.Nobody wants to pay what a good tech.is worth. To solve this problem "Digital Dentures".Now a person just out of high school with computer skills can put in some data and watch the computers do their magic. Is it as good as the traditional way ,time will tell.Myself as a tech.for 50 years I still do the traditional dentures with very good results.Still works for us.
How much do you think the e salary should be. I’m looking to transition from a dental assistant to a dental lab techs
I couldn't begin to guess what is a good starting salary .For someone with little or no experience the salary isn't great.More experience more money, but as careers go,for the time to train their are a lot better paying jobs.
@@larrystradeski8261 ok thanks. What better jobs do you suggest?
Hi sir I m dental lab tc From pakistan respect you
Verey nicccccc
Do you offer snap in dentures?
Very nice
Isnt working in a dental lab dangerous for your lungs?
I can do without the music 🎶
I’ve had 3 failures in a single year. What a waste of money.
What material was used for yours
What is your address
😉 *promosm*
It does hold. I have two Maryland bridges that I got when I was 14 years old. I am now about to be 50 years old and dentists are always surprised that they are in such good condition.
What material is yours made of and which teeth if you don't mind sharing
I just had locter fixed put in my lower are yesterday my final set is Zirconia. The price im paying for this is the same price i got from another dentist using regular full size implants. So how is this locater fixed a savings ? I totally do not trust the dentist whom put theses locater fixed in For all i know he could of put in mini implants
What about fracture of the denture around the abutments? Seems like high stress area and prone to fracture
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 From Brasil
I have a fractured lower tooth #30. I was told that a root canal is not an option after a 3D x-ray was performed. Now I'm trying to find an affordable way to fix this that is not the typical "implant". It doesn't seem that professionals don't even offer alternatives. Doing my research this Maryland Bridge seems it may work. I'm 77 if that makes a difference, it appears that this tooth will have to be removed. Any suggestions that I can take away from you would be appreciated. Thank you
Sorry to hear about your fractured tooth. I retired from dentistry a few years ago and can offer only observations and not diagnosis or treatment planning. Classmate at U. of Maryland Dental, Van Thompson, was involved in original development of Md. Bridge. If you are in good health and a candidate for an implant, and can afford the higher cost, the implant would provide a more predictable long term outcome. It stands alone,. doesn't rely on the condition and support of the teeth/tooth it attaches to. The implant, standing alone and acting as if a real tooth, presents a reduced risk of food trapping as under the fake tooth part of the Maryland Bridge. Maryland bridges have a long history of success but they can debond requiring recementation. Once integrated into the bone, the implant should never come out but nothing is 100% guaranteed. Nature's tooth didn't last forever and man's creations are also subject to variable success rates. Dentistry is always growing and learning from experience. The presenters here are speaking on findings of design that are established from observations over time. Neither I nor the presenters can view you and your entire mouth to properly advise what is best. In reality sometimes the cost of a root canal and crown can approach the cost of an implant. Speak with your own trusted dentist and let them discuss the alternatives, cost and expected longevity. Good luck.
a beautiful dental lab 😄
Nice..wondelful...I'm about to open my own lab, removables , traditional way. This is awsome, all that technology.
Difficult to understand the speakers because the music is mixed way too loud.
Can’t see the burs you used at end of the video.
I need my dentures now
SEMPER FI‼️🍻
👏
Do you have a comparable solution for denture patients who would like a fixed solution? Possibly something with zest ftx?
