Solo Lap
Швеция
Добавлен 2 ноя 2006
I'm Mark, also known as 'Solo Lap' for only ever having one seat in my early track cars. I'm an ocd British petrolhead, now living in rural Sweden and I've loved messing around with cars since I first got my driving license in the 90s. Over the years I've owned lots of different vehicles, with the focus always being FUN.
Like a lot of people, I started to make little tweaks to my cars, and with each car those tweaks evolved and multiplied along with my self taught skills. Although I love to drive a car on the open road or track, I think my love is more in the garage...nothing beats making a (hopeful) improvement and then testing it out, learning as I go.
This channel will be full of videos of me working on my cars, driving them (maybe) and what it's like to be a petrolhead here in Sweden. New content every week is the plan!

Fitting Custom Braid Wheels Onto The GTiR 👌

It's that time again when I go buy custom wheels because the perfect fitment (without spacers), just doesn't exist... This time, I went with the Spanish motorsport wheel manufacturer, Braid. Braid are known for extremely tough wheels and they also offer a bespoke service. Many emails, photos and months and here we are.
HOW EASY IS IT TO REPAIR DAMAGED CARBON FIBRE?

I bought a carbon boot lid recently for the Nissan and sadly (as is often the case) it arrived with some edge damage. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to see just how easy it is to actually repair damaged carbon. Let's find out!
FRONT RUNNER FOOT REST FITTING IN THE GTIR

Short one this week! I stumbled across a company in Aus called Front Runner Motorsport, they make several parts for the GTiR including Nismo replica items such as this footrest. I got talking to them and they made me one in black powder coat (normally they're bare aluminium), and it arrived today :)

HOW TO SETUP YOUR CAMBER USING CAMBER BOLTS AND YOUR PHONE!

I've been measuring and measuring for new wheels recently and just as I thought I was all set with width and offset, I noticed the camber on the Nissan, especially at the rear was...shall we say 'poor' looking. So I decided before I pull the trigger on the new wheels that I'd do something about the camber by using camber bolts AND set them up via my phone... Music track: Coastline by shandr Sou...
PROJECT EKP HONDA MIRRORS ON A NISSAN!

The oem mirrors on my Pulsar were not great...Not sure why, but they weren't manual, and they weren't electric, so you could only adjust them by pressing on the glass and they moved constantly! After much searching, I came across some Nissan Motorsport/Garage Defend style mirrors from a company called Project EKP. I took some rough measurements, and ordered a set, thinking (after doing this sor...
UNBOXING CARBON GOODIES FOR THE PULSAR GTIR!

I needed a bit of a pick me up with the cars, as of late the various jobs I've been doing have just seemed never ending for one reason or another... So when I realised that RallyTech in the UK also offer their awesome carbon door cards for the Pulsar, I ordered a set hoping they'd be just the pick up I needed...but things don't always go to plan!

HOW TO CONVERT ORANGE LENSES TO CLEAR WITHOUT USING AN OVEN!
Просмотров 32711 месяцев назад
When I got the Pulsar it had lovely clear side lenses but one was cracked so I replaced them with new lenses and sadly, they had orange covers inside and it bugged me... So fast forward several months and I decided to fix it, mainly as I wanted to see if it would be possible to do without the usual separating/baking/oven technique. I imagine this can apply to a lot of lenses, you'll just have t...
FITTING A PRO ALLOY EXPANSION TANK ON THE EVO V

USING HELPER SPRINGS TO LOWER YOUR RIDE HEIGHT

In a recent video I fitted some fantastic Meister R coilovers to the Pulsar BUT although the fronts had plenty of room to go low, the rears just weren't quite what I was after because my car is lighter.... This isn't so much of a how to video, but more of a 'how I intend to' video :P I decided that while I was waiting for the new seats to arrive, I'd test fit the Planted subframes and one of the Sparco seats from the Evo in the Pulsar as I figure out how I want to do things.

WHAT CAUSES A SPONGY CLUTCH PEDAL ON THE PULSAR GTIR (AND HOW TO FIX IT)
question, is the ventilation on the rear bumper actually functional? or simply to save weight?
@gaatjegeenrukaangek6 I mean, it wasn't tested in a windtunnel 😂 but a bit of both. Air definitely came out of all the vents on the rear, you could tell when it was dirty.
@ hmm, maybe the air from under the car, a flat bottom might have helped then? Sick build though, thinking of buying the gt for home to work transport.
Blitz is better when tuned right.
You did a very great job! Thank you for this video to see how much work it is 😮
Rekon it will stick down well on exposed carbon (under a carbon hood)

Sweet, yeah it’s not really got any resin over it under the bonnet, just a rough texture
Hi, would you know if there’s a harness for a Honda Integra DC5, I cannot find one online and I’d rather not have to cut into the existing wiring.
@dosullivan5213 if you've searched for dc5 turbo timer harness and nothing shows, I don't think so. Maybe because people only believe timers are for turbos.
@ thanks for that, I have my dc5 fitted with a turbo, I just hoped that there was something available. I guess not though.
I can't say I expected so much go after that much show. Humbled.
@radioactivepotato2068 Stian is a bit of a legend in the Nordics, he holds several lap records on various tracks here.
Hey - Are U good? Greetz.. :)
Anyone know if r32 seats fix in gtir?
holy Mother of God, how much did you spend?
@@matteovrizzi I don't think it was actually so much? Not compared to my other builds 😂
What a downgrade, instead of 120W, you get 10W? And you cannot plug in anything from a mini fridge, to a tire pump? IMO you should have kept both the 12V outlet and USB port.
Боже. Какой колхоз. Как жалко эту машину 😢

Hey dude I'm replacing my front bumper on my Nissan Sentra Sti160 n14 sedan but have never removed the front bumper so could you help with where all the mounting spots are ? I would really appreciate it!
@MarcovdWesthuizenSADrummer is it the same as the gtir? If so it's one central behind the grill, 1 each side under the indicators lens, 1 each corner of the bumper in the arch and possibly a few underneath. My car is modified so different layout.

Hi If I am buying a used car from Germany do we need to pay any kind of taxes or what would be additional cost over car payment.
@Dominicsara as you're buying from the eu and it's an eu car, there won't be import costs and registering should be easier.
I cannot find the quick release for the boss kit
Ah, the quick release from B+G

Did you just change the connectors or add something else? Then the high beam stayed on at the same time?
@ivan73197 I didn't use a relay so the main beam and dipped would stay on together. That is what you'd have to use if you wanted that setup 😇
why do u need water if its already sticky
Just one problem i say it should be the original cossie style
@lukejenkins9341 each to their own I guess? I only like the cossie in original rally trim and we can let Stian off as this car was a wrc car from the start 🤓

Where did you source this exhaust man I can’t find anything about the gt1.0z for cp9a I’m thinking this is partially custom, I want the exact same thing can you help point me in the right direction?
@sonofableep13 I found it on the German Ebay. I was just super lucky. They don't make them anymore and didn't make so many. I love the thing and it's currently flowing fine at 662whp.
@sonofableep13 it's a proper unicorn item. They are normally titanium, sadly this one is just stainless but still!

Finally an install that solves my problem. I have some wiggle room in the bonnet when I close it so I wasn't sure how I'd line up the top hole with the pin. But your vid answers it. Hold the bonnet down where you want it, drill the pilot hole through the hood first, and then you also have your pin hole in the right location. Absolutely Brilliant! Three years later and still helping people out with this. Thanks Mark.
@dntbadk glad it helped you! I've fitted so many pins over the years and this never fails to work. Especially using the clear box to make a template with for the catch itself.
Beautiful car, may i know what was the spring rate for the helper springs ?
@@izlk you'd have to ask Miester R, I can't remember now 🙈
Do you have any information for importing cars from Canada or America? I'm interested in importing pickup trucks to Sweden.
@Jay-oj4tm same process I imagine. You'll have to pay import duty and moms on the vehicle, then you just need to get it ready for the test. If it's a known vehicle, getting the c.o.c should be easy enough.
Much More power could be helpful... Nice car.
@ZZZWorks it would change the character too much I think 🤔
@@SoloLap I like the spider as it is. Big smile. Street or Cup. A nice racecar, but only in his own class. In common with other racers the classic A110 will always win. That depends on weight and power.
@@ZZZWorks and driver 😉
congratulations! a very nice project, a question, how works the aluminium indlet? do you have a real change in performance?
The aluminium one was garbage, it was poorly designed and made for a turbo conversion. The JMS carbon one was a lot better.
Really nice project you captured on film.
Thankyou!
I have this very Gatebil DVD. Long story behind how i got it over here in the uk back in 2006. Its very much the all time ultimate escos build. Stunning. There is a tribute car in england and its frightening how similar it is. Its basically a rhd clone. Gorgeous.
Sounds like my story getting the dvd maybe!

Mapp gas is useful because it burns hotter and you can hold the can in any position too. The screwdriver seems to help spreading the braze metal around when you can't get quite enough heat in there.
It's still holding up today!
Did you switch to 17s in the end ? Do they fit over 356mm brakes with the std calliper ?
No, I kept the 18s on the car iirc. Yes they fit over the larger discs!
Hafsengen is a beast to drift 4wd

Any advice for someone looking to getting into track racing on a low budget?
Do you have a car already?
@@SoloLap no not yet
@talibancat393 ok, well if you just want to improve your driving and have fun, just buy something cheap, like a Clio RS, invest in some good rubber, better pads and fluid, seats and harnesses and then strip out excess weight. The less extreme you go, the cheaper and more reliable you are. Once you reach a decent level, upgrading suspension is a good idea. The fastest people I know on track, who have the most fun, are the ones with the simplest cars.
@@SoloLap Thanks so much for the detailed response! I'd have a look round for something to get my foot in the door with, cheers.
