@@Jackoxxable Aww okay. Thanks for getting back to me. I searched the web the other day and couldn't find anything. I checked out his house when he had it up for sale two years ago. I was amazed at Fleming's intellect. More amazed than the house. We talked quite a bit and he told me about himself. I LOVED his house and I really wanted to pick it up half because of the history but I had cold feet with COVID on the horizon at the time. It was right when things were shutting down and the stocks crashed and the world shut down. I deeply regret not buying his house.

Great summary of the early history of the Kirkfield Lift Lock. I can remember your grandfather as my dad used to stop in to see him when we were traveling between our home and the ranch. My father went to the same school north of the Lift Lock. There have been a lot of changes since the mid 40's to the Lift Lock and the area. A major change was made in the mid 60's. Nothing stays the same. In the 20's and 30's the Lift Lock was a gathering place for people on weekends. People would come to see the locks and picnic. It was not unusual for cars to be parked on both sides of the road for quite a distance.

I grew up visiting with the Chirpaughs. My dad was Phil Butler, one of Bill's good friends. Everytime I'd be back to visit my folks, my dad and I would pack a few beers and go see Bill. Even after my dad passed, my mom (Judy Butler) and I took my then 5 year old son to see him too. He really is one of the last links to the history of Victoria Road and surrounding area. Thanks so much for doing this video Bill. I hope to see you next time I'm home.
