Great video , me and my partner are going to Perranporth next month. Both very excited for a relaxing break away from the stresses of a day to day lifestyle in the big city ! Also a fan of the soundtrack , reminds me of electro synth 80s
My Great Grandfather worked there and then came to Michigan USA to work the copper mines and found even worse conditions. I had tears in my eyes when I went on the tours and found out the working conditions that they went through. They were in debt when they got here and stayed in debt as long as they worked in the mines. Generations of our family was lost to these mines. I still find it so familiar that they left one peninsula to come to another. I still have family there although most moved to New Zealand. If the surname "Teddy" means anything to you please give me a shout.
Thanks for sharing! Do the National Trust not get all hormonal about the use of drones? The DJI App has a fit whenever I've switched it off on a NT property.
Ben M hi and thanks for the comment. I didn't seek permission but this was around 4 years ago when drones were relatively new and nobody bothered about the rules and the red tape then.
Dicky Fox okay thanks for the quick response. Looks amazing, your video has sold it to me to come visit. Though I'll probably leave the Inspire at home!
That was brilliant.. loved it. Especially loved the music, reminded of the electronic music of the 80's. What was the track called and who was it by? My god we really do live in god's Eden on Earth!! And we are so lucky to call this amazing place our home, and our birthright.. the land is what made us Cornish what we are.. Thank you Dicky x
I went to Perranporth last holiday, it was AMAZING! I would defo suggest that people should go there! The beach is stunning, everyone is nice there and it's so relaxing :D
Hello @Dicky Fox , my name is Richard Sweeting I am a Photography major at Santa Fe University of Art and Design and I am curious if you would allow me to use clips of this video for an art project about the rio grande for school. You wouldnt need to send me a file for the project works better if i just take them straight from the internet (the project is an aggregation of things on the internet). I would just need an ok from you so i can continue with the project. Hope to hear from you soon!
I hadn't taken into account the high altitude and high ambient temperature draining the battery so quickly so at the very end of the video I'm applying full "UP" and Phantom just made it, coming in at just 5 feet above the cliff edge.
WOW. We are going to Peranporth in October and taking some friends who have never been. We have been describing it in great detail. I though why don't I find a youtube video for them to watch, much easier than explaining. Well, I have just found that video. Bloody awesome. Thanks mate!
Hi Dicky - we love your video! Would you mind if we share it from our website? (we are based in Perranporth) We will make sure you have full credit of course :-) Were you here on holiday?
Cape Cornwall is a place I visit quite a few times each year, Its great seeing an aeriel view of the place, Excellent video :-) Btw what drone are you using?
Hi Nigel, thanks for the comment. I was using a Phantom2 with a GoPro Hero3 Black hanging on for dear life from a Zenmuse H3 2D gimbal. I now use a H3 3D gimbal which removes most of the side to side wavering.
Does anyone know if there is an online petition regarding the latest planning application at Swanpool for 32 houses right on the side of the beach cafe? Application number is PA14/10258 view via www.cornwall.gov.uk
Hi Steve. I've watched videos shot without a gimbal and there is a lot of movement as you would expect, the horizon dipping and rotating, but it depends on what you're after. I would certainly recommend a gimbal but it's not essential. I'm using a Zenmuse H3 2D here. You could always get the quad and add the gimbal later. one thing I would strongly advise though, is to get an FPV system with telemetry. FPV so you can see what you're shooting, and telemetry to keep an eye on remaining battery level.

What a fantastic video Dicky! Shows how big the beach really is, and what a beautiful place Perranporth is.
I have been thinking of getting a quad for a while - already have the Gopro - is the gimbal essential to get get good shots like yours?

You sure are. It is our most favourite place to visit when we come to Cornwall.
