Eurorack DIY: Befaco Voltio build and calibration
Let's build the Befact Voltio an accurate voltage source and precision adder module.
I got the Voltio DIY kit a while ago and now it's time to build it.

Eurorack DIY: Luthers Analog Probability Gate - Build and Demo
Thanks a lot, this is super useful! Let's see if a noob like me can order this SMD-assembled from JLCPCB...
genius!
Based
No I/o pin protection ?
I think that there are BAV99 clamping diodes on all inputs and outputs. dl.modulove.de/module/arythmatik/ibom.html
4:31 😂 damn
@3:42 you can buy antistatic PETG.
I have actually tried this but I could not get the needed strength and precision. Discussed it a lot with the manufacturet, but they could not help me. But I will keep on searching.
@@MeeBilt the other option is antistatic spray.
D1!
.
Quality filming, guidance not to mention superb modules, and the icing on the cake is the drawings and Files.Well done for what you have given us on our journey to the synthesiser world, I love the guidance tutorial design for the front panels.
Thanks a lot for the nice words. I'm happy that you find it useful!
What kind of distortion is happening on the oscillator? Its triangle with reset > clipped > filtered correct?
it the diode clipping mod from the neinohnein documentation
Where could we get the raw samples from? Or array of values that you would read from a 6 bit dac, whatever is clever
The binary files used for the ROMs can be found here: github.com/tkilla64/eurorack/tree/main/misc/roms You can extract the data from them or convert it to a header file that you can include in your program - it depends on what you want to do
There is a high end midi CV converter that measures the output frequency of the VCO and adjusts the CV accordingly.
Cool, yeah that's one way of doing it.
@@MeeBilt the Moog memory did that also with 8 bit ic's (dac) some 30 or so years back. you see it in the schematics.
@@MeeBilt This 64 mb memory chip from AP memory, i told you about is indeed used in phones, a known brand. I'm really interested in getting that chip going.
Hi, Is the power supply project you sent suitable for powering this project? And can I use this voltio module as an instrument pedal? That is, can I octave and transpose the sounds when I connect my guitar? In short, can I use it as an instrument pedal?
@@serhatdemir2714 No, the Voltio will only produce control voltage signal, not audio from your guitar.
Hl ,where do find the trimpot tool ? thx
It's an old one that I bought 30+ years ago from Spectrol, but this should be similar I think: se.farnell.com/vishay/008t000/trimmer-adjustment-tool-w-clip/dp/1687979
@@MeeBilt thx
The bassline was on my wishlist for so long. But now I have the pcb gotta take my time such a dense build. 😂
Yeah, it's not a complicated build, but there are a lot of components 😅
I need to build my first one. It’s such a dense build so I am a bit intimidated by the silk screen. 😅 Also need to order the special parts. But it sounds great in your video. So really tempted to start.
I just finished my second one, and it would be near impossible without the ibom - the silkscreen is really difficult to use. It's even hard when you have the ibom as a guide! Best of luck with your build!
SO Good! Thanks for sharing!
Nice Build.
Thanks!
Can’t wait for the build video!
It's already available on the channel
Love the quality coming on this channel!!
Thanks a lot!
I was thinking of making some of these and now I won't have to! Thank you! Your rock!
Thanks a lot! You're welcome.
This is really smart. I bet there are many enthusiasts that wouldn’t mind spending some money on obtaining these pre-built.
Great video, a question about soldering, what solder paste do you use?
I use a solderpaste with a melting point around 183 degrees C. I don't know the brand (it's chinese)
@@MeeBilt thank you so much!
Great idea, ordered a set of each. Thanks for designing these.
You're welcome! 😊
2:28 Dedicating a breadboard just for the UI is great. Boards are cheap. You can quickly lay out the interface elements and have them sturdy, then run wires to the other board. Still better than having the knobs and buttons hanging off the main board with wires, getting yanked on when you adjust them.
Yes, I fully agree!
2:58 I'm surprised that doesn't melt the breadboard matrix around those pins as you solder them.
It can!
I have a cheap "sacrificed" breadboard that I only use for soldering pinheaders onto Arduinos, RPi Picos and component adapters. Sofar the BB have been keeping up quite good - but I try to solder the pins as quick as possible to avoid melting the plastic.
I have made these for the alpha pots some time ago, after i learned from Mutable Instruments Breadboard friends. also very useful for smd ic, dual match transistors, etc. check out this ic;: APS6404L-3SQR 64 Mega byte pseudo ram, SPI. seemingly used in phones or so. You think it would be possible to bread board 2 of these to join to 16 bit would worK? : )
Oh, your helpers trump mine. I never thought about a cherry switch footprint. 😮
Nice. I also sometimes experiment with all sorts of things on breadboards and was thinking about making a set of small pluggable modules like opamp basic building blocks.
Great idea!
Very nice! Clean design too. I have made some as well. Call them Breadboard Buddies. The one one I end up using most is plugging in eurorack supply power in a consistent way.
Thanks Anders, yes I'm planning to make something like that too.
Nice work man ❤
Thanks!
Awesome idea, will pick up some for sure
Thanks a lot!
Yes, this was very interesting, thank you. Do you make the pc boards and sell them (un-assembled or assembled)? Thank you again.
If there is a demand for that I will do it.
Not so good if the fumes are not venting to the outside.
Sure, do you have that at home? The carbon filter will catch the fumes good enough for hobby purposes
Overkill for a simple switch and barrel jack😭
Overkill is my middle name 😄😅
Cool project - thank you! Earned a sub 😊👍🏻
Thanks! Welcome 😊
Why use a simple and reliable 50 cent toggle switch when you can spend hours and hours building a complicated circuit board and 3-D printing a space-consuming case to do the same thing? /sarc
Because it's fun...?
Button pretty.
F - respect!
Thanks
A very nice looking print. The control box is a bit over the top for my taste. I once also 3d printed a fume extractor but used a simple toggle switch instead.
That works fine too - I considered to add a rocker switch somewhere on the extractor hood but couldn't find a good place for it and I also needed to add a 12V power supply, that's why I ended up with a separate control box.
That is really nice. Thank you for all the work you put into that. Definitely my next project.
My pleasure, best of luck with the build
Extra points for the Cherry key switch. 🤩
Yeah, why settle for something less than that 😍😁
Nice and chill build!
I second that! Very rad build.....
❤SEXY!!!❤❤❤❤!!!!!!
Sounds *filthy* and I love it
