Well, I bought a set of the MAGICKA MKII that was discounted as Audel has rolled out the new plus model. Does it follow the online reviews...to a point. While it has been stated to sound "calm, softened", I wouldn't say it is a warm sounding speaker. The worst thing I can say upfront is that it can sound bright and/or thin at times. I think this is because the bass is fast, the mids extremely revealing, transparent with alot of information coming through. Compared to the most revealing speakers I have heard, these are not far behind and there are plenty of positives. While I wouldn't pair these with a cold amp such as one that pushes the upper mids, I think a neutral to a warm amp would work best. With movies, voices are distinct, if perhaps just a little laid back compared to the rest of the soundtrack. You get alot of information and it demands an active listen. If you are sensitive to having alot to listen for, it could get tiring but it's an engaging listen. For music, you get that transparency with good staging, not too large but as expected for its size. It isn't a small stage but doesn't extend beyond speaker width as do some other speakers. It isn't an overly tall stage either but the depth is good, not as much as I wanted but if there's space in the material, it will be there, nothing artificial. Tonality good if a bit thin at times but its a 5.5 inch fast woofer that sounds more natural than many but the best. Not overly refined in the highs as you hear everything but without the hash or grain. Sibilance is well done without the glare I have with my very good but more budget speakers which is something I wanted. Looking at the impedance curve, it is easy to drive by class AB but not sure how a tube would do as the curve juts up to over 40 ohms around the upper mids. Still, a good tube may be fine. Listening to movies, its exciting and more tiring than my other budget speakers so I am adjusting to all the information being presented. It's easier with music. But I do not find I have to adjust the volume as with some speakers that get too loud and then too soft/low. And I have the speakers pointed straight in to the room which is 30 degrees which tames the rising highs. The Frequency has been measured to be mostly flat with some waviness below 200 Hz and a rise starting at 8K Hz. It's an airy but dense enough listen. Voices sound mostly natural in music and movies and I think movies were not given a flat response so as to sound exciting so it will come across the speakers that way. Is it high end? Worth the price? Well, some speakers sound denser, some more defined/focused but its a good blend of those attributes, not class leading but good. It isn't so refined in the upper mids and highs to take the life out of the material thus not a laid back listen, much more engaging. There's enough dynamic expression and reach to hear the lowest details but without the jumps in dynamic swings to sound too loud as too turn it down. It's plenty loud enough for me. Not a rounded sound but not edgy, it stops before sounding edgy but do not expect easy. In music there's a good degree of texture, not among the best but enough with spatial cues as well if recorded properly. Piano strikes ride a line between pretty and weighty. It doesn't have the weight the best have in the lower mids but enough to feel its more or less real. Speakers that I have heard that excel in a particular area fall short in others while these seem to give alot in many areas or at least well enough. Again, it isn't easy listening, it's engaging, not warm but not clinical boring either. I could try a slightly warmer, rounded amp as well and add a sub to fill in what may be missing to add weight but listening as is right now. I had my sights on a speaker that would have cost more and with a bigger more expensive woofer but a less expensive tweeter but at the discounted price and overall parts, seeing the construction of the cabinet and the Sartori tweeter pushed me in this direction. The woofer is still decent with the drivers costing well over $500 if one was to buy them separately. Add a relatively expensive cabinet and the multiple justified the price, probably around 3X parts cost and from a dealer and international shipping. At MSRP of $3,700 I wouldn't have done it and the new model using the same drivers but with improvements to the cabinet and crossover will cost close to double. Using the same drivers seemed to indicate tweaks to the speakers rather than a complete redesign of drivers which also helped push me to consider the outgoing model. So, a price that I should be able to recoup enough of my purchase down the road, presumably. It isn't really mass produced and well known...but it is a well designed and competent speaker. So far finding these work well overall and are suitable for small to midsize rooms I'd say up to 30 sq meters especially with a good sub. Is it perfect, no, but what is. Anyone else feel free to add to this and give your own experience.

It just doesn't make sense to me what these poor smartphone recordings are supposed to convey, which are then transmitted via RUclips using lossy audio compression. Someone doesn't seem to understand the meaning of audiophile.

these speakers are horribly overrated. and horribly overpriced as well. i would rather have a yamaha NS-5000, and it only costs 10k. you can even get the much much older yamaha NS1000M for a thousand dollars, and completely outblow this piece of massmarketing junk crap.
