Why are you making the fuel tank so thicc, You're using steel and 300 psi is nowhere near being able to rupture the tank. Even 1 mm thickness would be enough and with sufficient margin. That would make your rocket way more lightweight

I think the problem here is that these were entirely pressure fed, but the pressure from the tanks were much less than that of the combustion chamber. Which means the oxygen could actually provide the combustion chamber with oxygen, but the combustion chamber provided the oxygen line with sufficient heat to react with the oxygen line. I feel like this could've ended quite catastrophically. Although I guess the oxygen line cubusting with the oxygen wouldn't be able to quite generate enough heat to keep it going all the way to the tank (unless it was shorter). Whatever you use to pump oxygen and fuel into the combustion chamber must be generating higher pressure than the combustion chamber itself.

You need a turbopump, so that the impulse doesn't reverse into the fuel or oxidizer lines.

How many times did NASA have unintentional ignitions, thats just part of building and testing rockets as you already know, don't look at it as a failure, looks at all the data and knowledge that gave you, keep it up man, your doing an incredible job!!

With such a lathe, try taking off 5mm of the diameter in one pass in mild steel. If you have the parameters right, it should be no problem. Should be able to handle 10mm too but be careful. You seem to be a beginner with industrial lathes so go slow.

Large radius inserts will actually achieve better surface finishes easier.✌

It's a really good thing that flame front didn't travel past your servo valve. Your chamber pressure well exceeded 20 bar. You should be throttling the flow at the injector plate to prevent this and also have an inline flame arrestor valve to shut off flow if the flame front moves back up the pressure line. You could use stainless pressure tubing and AN fittings for these. I'd also recommend switching to Nitrous Oxide as an oxidizer as it is far safer to handle and use.

Not quite a restoration, more like a bit of TLC. A restoration involves a paint job IMHO.

I ran one of those for 25 years and it ran 60 hours a week and the sh1t we got it to do with cheating the controller like a 10 tool gang tool and we just got the new version shout if you need any advise with programming it we had a small heater in the electrical cabinet as our shop was always cold Best of luck with it

Reseating expansion cards and plugged wiring can go a long way to getting a machine like that working.

CRT deflection is dead, from the looks. Should be easy fix. Apart from that, for real restoration, you basically have to strip the whole machine, there is coolant and crap in every corner, to get it really nice and clean, nothing but a full stripdown, clean and reassembly. And put some new turcite on X-axis (glue, surface plate and scraping), lathe will destroy itself, with half of it missing.

That X axis stripped turcite must be fixed. It works in the testing phase, but that needs to be fixed. I have a teach in lathe too. Love it! I got mine retrofitted with linuxcnc.

What an awesome machine you got up and running! Im a bit concerned about the jaws you used... I would advise you to get some proper "rough jaws" that you can use for rough raw materials that comes in all sizes and keep the other jaws for specific diameters. Nobody wants to see a lathe yeet a part across the workshop
