Portland, Oregon, USA. These Bewick's Wrens had a nest in a roosting pocket under our covered porch. As the nestlings were getting near fledging age, the wrens became very protective of the area. Here they work together to chase away a squirrel. The video is first shown in slow motion (.5x), followed by the same footage in real time.

Crows break off branches to use for building their nest. This one pounded at them with its beak as well as tugged at them with all its might. Nesting season offers lots of interesting behaviors to watch. Enjoy!

Ahhh!! It's painful to watch our failing Drill Machine mission. That was so consistent before. Oh well. More new ideas for next year, I guess. Whoo! I can't wait.
