2022 MDX Daytona 6 ton jackstands review Harbor Freight
In this video I purchased the 6 ton jackstands from harbor freight that are the daytona brand we all know. I wanted to see if they work better than the smaller jack stands i currently have. My main concern is getting better contact on the saddle of the jackstand. When i lift the car from the rear, i want the jack points to remain on the saddle and not shift too much. I want it to be stable when i shake the car for hard to remove bolts/nuts. Sorry i have not made any new videos lately. I almost have it paid off. The only video i have to make soon is the video for transmission flush. I have also wanted to jump to the Type S but the cost is prohibitive. Not sure what i want to do with the MDX.
OMG.....why did Acura go with this intake box??? That motor still has the same stock 290BHP.... so no gain or difference in power? Did they ever explain or post anywhere what the difference is/was with this style of Air Box over the previous? Or was it just a engine cosmetic change to charge $XX.XX for a different style air filter and make it harder to throw a intake or make any changes?
I think the design was to fill the engine bay since it sits much lower inside the engine bay. It also probably helps silence the intake by taking it through many bends and curves. Think about how loud an accord short ram intake is. I would love it but probably 90% or more adults do not want it loud. The forums have many people complain about road noise or an electrical hum from the throttle or turbo (typeS) or other sounds. There is a website that sells 3.5" custom adapters with the MAF but its expensive for what it is. You gotta love the sound to do it.
@macgyvergarage2016 Yea I guess I get it about silencing additional engine/throttle noise. I actually removed the airbox resonator off of mine JUST to hear the grunt / throttle sound and of course the Vtec once that kicks in and sounds amazing on this V6. But you're right, the majority of folks that buy this vehicle isn't for performance or sound of the motor / exhaust. Thanks for replying!! 👍👍
Is there a way to permanently disable Auto Stop start because I absolutely hate it! in my 2021 model MDX. The system has problems and the dealer can't figure out why. just want it gone.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I bought a product someone already made. It is called the idlestop and i put up a video on how to install it. I was thinking it was a simple wire jumper we needed but the product uses a delay jumper signal that mimics selecting the button. My Acura 2023 MDX has same issue , I went to Rally Acura where i bought my car , They said the noise coming from brakes. It is normal. This is my second car, I know the noise is not normal. also It is not from brakes. The issue didn't solve . Today I drove my car to Paragon Acura , the server very very professional ，I only told her there's noise when i making 3 points turn, they know exactly what's wrong, She said this is very common issue and covered by manufacturer warranty， less waiting time than Rally Acura, issue was solved. Could you share more details on what the specific issue was? I have the same issue but my car warranty has expired already so I will have to pay for it properly. Just want to make sure my Acura dealer won't charge me more than once to fix it. Thank you very much :D
the brakes do not make noise by their design. The have springs holding them so backing up and going forward do not cause clunking. They also have tabs that keep them from moving from their slots. Some people are having noise from their steering wheel which is different that the sounds i was having from outside. I really think its the transmission making noise, but i know nothing of what is inside of it. Its hondas proprietary 10 speed. It still could be an axle issue of the CV joint, but time will tell when it gets bad enough it breaks. By then im sure it will be out of warranty and i will just buy another axle. If it ends up being the transmission, i would just find a used one (fingers crossed).

Not sure exactly, but maybe the MFD has a setting or the center screen through the NAV settings, where clock or region would be.
my 22 ASpec is making that noise, but it doesn't show any updates, I keep checking for them but the system keeps saying no updates detected. I get this chirp frequently, usually as I am entering the car and have not powered anything on.
If it is not the car software update, then it is the xm sirius notification.I believe there is a way to turn notifications off once you go into that menu.

Acura is offering the A Spec Advanced Trim for the 2025 MDX. What really sucks though is that the RDX A Spec Advanced has all the features you mentioned but the 360 camera is garbage due to the really poor resolution and the fact that it does not take up the whole screen.
I have considered to upgrade to the new 25' Aspec to get the camera but with inflation and no deals, it doesn't make sense to get rid of the 1.9% for a higher rate and larger payment. I honestly thought about getting a 24' type s advanced to get a deal and better engine, but my financial brain tells me to not do it.
I have a 2023 Tech with 20k miles that’s been at the dealer now 21 days with the same problem. Also had to have instrument cluster replaced and rear light assembly. Very poor quality control

I have not needed to do them yet as i only have 26000 miles. I have heard that some TypeS MDXs are going through the brembo pads quite fast and not even getting 20000 miles.
Never get under a car with only a hydraulic jack.
thanks, i do follow that. I always use jackstands when under a car that can crush me such as a sedan. I own 4 or more jackstands. The MDX is tall enough without needing to lift. It is possible to change the oil without lifting the car. The absolute point of lifting only the drivers side is so that the oil filter drains towards the catch can. If it happens to hit the frame ( bad design) it drains to the catch can. When i got under the rear, the tires are on the ground. I would never get under the car if the wheels were removed.

Hi yeah it looks like its the right list of items to make it work, but the wires and camera cables are not there. For the headsup display its missing the cables from the cluster to the HUD. I think the wires at the hud switch were there as it shares all the same ground and power to turn on all the features, if my memory serves correctly. We could now start looking for junkyard parts for sure on advanced models to get what we want until we can figure out the right connector ends and make our own harnesses.
I use those better it burn oil. Does it burn oil oil use in the mdx?
Not sure really. I have had the dipstick look low once right near the oil change. But the last one was still right on the money the entire duration. So maybe a lot of engine braking from high rpm to low rpm causes more of the scenario of oil vapor to be captured in the PCV versus light driving.

This is affecting me now. My car is stuck in a parking garage 600 miles away, because I can’t get a tow truck in there to pull it out. Acura dealership won’t send anyone to help. Trying to find a mobile mechanic to replace the starter (to see if that’s the problem). If that doesn’t work, we’ll probably need to buy some hydraulic wheel dollies from Harbor Freight so the car will roll.
I have a Type S and I cannot believe it did not come with at least a front camera if not the 360 degree.
If my 22 mdx only has 8k miles can I wait until I’m hit 20k to do this? Acura dealers here in AZ think all women are easy targets.. thanks
Yes sure you can. Its always better to do things as a preventative measure. There are cars on the road over 10 years that have not had it done. The pedal gets spongy, and eventually doesnt perform well in hot or super cold scenarios and could cause increased stopping distance. As long as you are comfortable waiting on it. My schedule is every 2 years, but 4 years max. If I don't remember doing it, for sure I will go back and do it again to confirm. Welcome to the MDX club!

As far as I know, there are no tools created for this specific transmission in the MDX. I have thought about trying to make a tool, but just have not gotten around to it. I think a tool will be more useful at the 4 to 5 year mark when the MDXs are out of warranty and people are having to maintain them more often.
Great video, wish it had a happier ending. Did you happen to open the back of your cluster (if possible) and look where the plug should be? I'm curious if there is any internal wiring capped on the inside of your cluster. Perhaps only the back panels are different between the models to deter diy upgrades?
I did not open the back of the cluster because i had a scheduled appointment and did not want to cause an additional issue. After it was put all together i just left it as is for now.

It just a grocery store turkey baster/syringe. As for the catch can for the brake fluid, i used my bmw kit you can find by searching "Schwaben Bleeder". There are probably amazon style kits that are way more affordable. I eventually want to get the honda/acura reservoir adapter so i can use the pressure bleeder portion that i was unable to use in the video.

You’re THE expert in the MDX community. Do you know how to take the out the brake pads? I could only find videos about the previous gen. I’m asking because I’m having squeaky sound on hard brakes in my front passenger side brake. I checked and the brakes seem fine as they are thick and even. I’m suspecting a tiny rock stuck between the brake pad and the rotor. But I couldn’t figure out how to open the caliper. Thanks!
I don't have a video just yet about pad replacement, but i know when i first bought the car i noticed that the brakes were like BMW. I assume it will be very similar way to disassemble. I always tell people that the pads can be deburred on the edges to stop some of the squeaking that normally occurs when "stragglers" of the material come in contact with the rotor face. In other instances, people have had rocks or sand enter the pad area causing squeaks until it leaves. Power washing has helped in some instances, without removal.

Would the 22 mdx type s have the connections on the dash cluster being closer to the advanced than the a spec? And in your case are you not able get a type s advanced cluster and then it would work ? Along with the wire harness between those two parts since you’re saying there’s two and ones missing? It’s weird but I was literally just wondering if this was possible to do on my 22 mdx type s and then your video came up in my feed. I think another part you didn’t mention was the button on the end of the stock to activate the 360 cameras. Are you on other platforms to talk more in depth with people? Hi, i think the type s base and the type s advanced are like the normal mdx aspec/tech and mdx advanced. So basically if you don't have the advanced cluster and harnesses, the items are not there to plug into. As for the 360 camera stalk button is only around 59 dollars on the online acura parts warehouse. You would still be missing the camera module to combine the image and the wires/cables to connect all of them. Ive thought about using an aftermarket system and possibly connecting to the input of the nav screen where there is an empty input for the camera.
Acura quality has gown downhill. Too bad I always liked them but now I think Lexus has far surpassed them. I don't think of Acura as a luxury brand anymore. It's no different than Honda now.
The luxury comes from the items they put into the car or the materials used. The engines from honda or acura are always mild. I've owned other luxury brands and every company has their issues.

How much more HP and Torque did you get? I assume you had to reprogram the ECU to adjust fuel consumption as well as gas mixture?
