Quick sound clip of my 1998.5 cummins... first takeoff was in second with the tst on level 5. You can hear me lift and change the TST to level 9 and stomp it in 3rd. Ignore my messy floorboard.

    Some are claiming 29bhp for a250 single when the fse300 only makes around 28bh. We will see.

    Is that a 19” front wheel? How are the vibs and rpm’s while cruising on local roads? I’m so close to pulling the trigger on one… but I’m not sure if the 300 of any brand might be more fun vs price. Good video! 😎👍

    Thanks for a great video! Looking forward to hearing more about the 250E. I recently learned about GPX and was keen to get a 300R, but heard they are no longer selling those in the U.S. only the smokers and the 250E.

    Thanks for posting this. I was on the fence about the new model due to the EFI and PDS suspension. I'm coming off a 2017 KTM 350 EXC-F and I could never completely cure the snatchy, abrupt throttle coming off idle. I tried a JD Tuner but didn't want to go the expensive aftermarket ECU route, which may have cured it. I decided to go with a slightly used 2023 model. I liked the linkage suspension and the carbureted engine. Throttle response off idle is much more to my liking. I do wonder if that new 4 valve engine would fit in the frame of the older models.

    Great initial review of the new FSE250 E . I also hopefully have one coming in the UK July, Yes it appears by the USA/UK Web site for GPX , its a new engine with EFI , and direct link rear spring . Really looking forward to this bike as theirs not really anything else out their to compete, if you want 250 air cooled light and simple ,it sounds spot on . And yes please keep the content coming, would be great to see some footage of your bike running and sounding . Kind Regards Si

    I didn’t have that problem, mine was a surge at cruise and a stall then an off idle stumble before I took apart my 780 Holley and checked for warped parts. I spent 5 hrs filing. Both front and rear body where the metering block sits needed filing, but the most was the bottom of the body and the bottom side of the throttle blade side. All fixed once all passages were shot with carb cleaner and blown out with compressed air. I first can the parts through a ultrasonic cleaner before checking for warpage. Great after all new gaskets were installed. I would start with setting the valves using the EOIC method. The tear the carb apart if valve setting didn’t fix the problem. Make sure the spark plugs are clean too. A propane torch is your friend that burns carbon off. Hold the plug in a socket and ratchet while cooking it. I cook it for about 1 min then use a brass brush to brush the crud off.

    I don't get it, why go to the trouble to make a video about an HEI distributor shimming and not show how to install the shims, I didn't look up a video on how to shim a distributor to only show the tools to do it with or about engine timing, it makes no sense and by the way you forgot to mention that having to much end play on distributor shaft will cause the roll pin to sheer on distributor gear.

    @CRF230Pro were you able to retain the factory "set it and forget it" valve lash settings since they are a torque to spec rocker arm? Or did you have to go to adjustable rockers when you installed this cam?

  • @brents4729
    @brents4729 3 года назад

    Impossible that it could jump far enough up to come off the camshaft. If that was the case you wouldnt be sitting in the oil pump shaft...If the shaft jumped that far it would have destroyed the rotor by hitting the inside of the cap.

    • @johnlaws9853
      @johnlaws9853 3 года назад

      That is literally what he said, but obviously what he ment was the helical gears made the main shaft in the distributor walk up so far that it through his timing off enough to cause major operating issues. Every 10 thousands end play slop is the same as 1.2 degrees in timing. That's major.

    I'm having a problem with mid throttle on my ktm sx 125 2003, Its almost like stuttering and hesitate but will rev out and happy at the top end ? Think its the clip position?

    • @derek_underwood
      @derek_underwood 4 года назад

      @j willems Sounds like your bike is "four stroking". Meaning there is too much fuel(rich) in whatever rpm range is experiencing the stutter. It's not a bad thing. More fuel means a cooler cylinder; however, I would agree it is annoying. I just resolved this same issue on my CR by moving the needle clip one notch up to lean that midrange/transition into powerband.

    Hello there, my question is sort of off topic. I’ve got oil some how coming up my distributor’s shaft in to my distributor’s housing causing my sbc to lose spark causing me to loose power or not start at all. Any idea how I can keep this from happening? I’m probably going to replace o rings and the shaft gasket but I don’t know if this will help because it’s coming up the shaft regardless. Thanks for your time in advance!

    So this can cause strange multiple misfire problems? I’ve underwent EVERY cause of misfire for my 4.3 TBI and tonight I went out and pulled up and down on the shaft and it moves a bit but I don’t want to pull it out just yet because that’s a lot for me to undergo with a budget
